AMA AMA with photojournalist Marharyta Fal, who has reported from some of the hottest spots on Ukraine’s front: Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Dobropillia and Kramatorsk

On Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. Kyiv time (5 p.m. London, noon ET, 9 a.m. Portland, 1 a.m. Friday in Tokyo, 3 a.m. Friday in Sydney), Frontliner photojournalist Marharyta Fal will join r/Ukraine for an AMA. Post your questions here ahead of time or join us live.
“When I cover the war, I’m just trying to cope with reality and be useful. It’s my way of recording a shared experience -- for those who have already seen the wreckage of their own homes, and for those who still see the world only through a screen.”
Marharyta has reported on Russia’s blockade of occupied Oleshky and on aerial bomb attacks on Kramatorsk. She has also reported from Kostiantynivka, and walked into Druzhkivka and Dobropillia alongside Ukrainian troops.
- A fresh grave behind the house: Line of contact nears Dobropillia, city isolated
- Next after Kostiantynivka: Industrial Druzhkivka is no longer the rear
- Armor shortages, blocked routes, and conscription risks – the challenges of evacuation under fire (Kostiantynivka)
- Ten minutes to rescue from the rubble: Russians attack residential buildings in Kramatorsk with aerial bombs
- ‘No one knows whose skull this is’: Russia’s blockade starves occupied Oleshky (warning: graphic content)

Discussion President Donald Trump is downplaying the idea of cutting off intelligence-sharing with Ukraine, telling reporters yesterday that the US is still sharing intelligence and that “we help them” , while emphasizing that his goal is to see an end to Russia’s years-long war on the country.
But the idea is actively being discussed inside the White House, one Trump administration official told Semafor. And notably, there’s not yet consensus on what to do: CIA Director John Ratcliffe is said to be opposed to the idea. “Trump is pretty pissed off. He could order it,” the administration official said, suggesting that Trump should end its intelligence-sharing specifically for targets inside Russia instead. Last year, Trump briefly suspended intelligence-sharing with Ukraine after a tense Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said recently that Kyiv received no intelligence from partners on a Russian missile attack.

News We brought a Shahed drone to Warsaw to ask a bigger question: are sanctions keeping up with Russia?

Russia is ramping up weapons production and continues to use Western technology. Are sanctions keeping pace with Russia’s ability to adapt and produce weapons?
NAKO Executive Director Olena Tregub opened a discussion on sanctions against Russia at the Warsaw Security Forum 2026 with this question.
Russia is one of the most heavily sanctioned countries in the world. Yet it continues to obtain Western technology and use it to build deadly weapons. “This is not a technical matter. It is a matter of national survival for Ukraine and security for all of Europe,” says Olena.
Europe and the United States need to rethink their approach to sanctions. This means not only introducing new restrictions, but also improving export controls and enforcement of existing sanctions.
NAKO is a program partner of the Warsaw Security Forum 2026, one of the key international platforms for discussions on security, defence, sanctions policy, and support for Ukraine. The forum brings together government officials, representatives of international institutions, civil society, and experts from more than 90 countries.
