Mice getting the best of my traps. What am I doing wrong?

We have been trying to get rid of a mice problem for a minute. I used live traps and released them back into the wild, but they either came back, new mice just took their place, or we didn't get them all to begin with.

Right now I have a live trap, a DCON no view trap, and 2 Victor snap traps down. The live trap and DCON trap haven't been touched, and I've had the peanut butter "stolen" off the snap traps 3 times in the last 24 hours with no snap.

We have our pantry pulled apart, with only top shelves still intact, and I don't want to put the effort into putting the lower shelves back together until we get this problem gone! (This is the reason the old shelves went in the trash, bc they were too difficult to disinfect).

Would it be counterproductive to just use some mice-repellent at this point? Maybe trapping and getting rid of them isn't going to happen, but we can ward them off? Or do those even work?

Any help is appreciated. I'm at my wit's end with cleaning and disinfecting endlessly and having to grocery shop almost daily since I don't have adequate mouse-proof space to hold a week's worth of dry foods.

General Question DIY pest control

Hey everyone, I’m a first time home owner here in Atlanta Georgia and man these freaking bugs!

I have outdoor cockroaches I think they’re coming up the old ac vents from the crawl space and floor.

These freaky big spiders I think are invasive to the area. Luckily they don’t come inside

And yellow jackets and red paper wasps.

I was looking into products like pestie and wanted to ask for everyone else’s thoughts before I make any decision.

As for termites I will work with professionals on that.

Thanks in advance!

General Question Grain mite issue || Looking for help & advice

Hello! I need some help at the moment
This morning I found out that my bin was completely covered in grain mites. And upsettingly enough- but my guitar & my headphones we're also covered in them.
This isn't my first time having to deal with grain mites, however I never had this much of an issue with them before.
I've fully gotten rid of the bin, and I've thoroughly cleaned my guitar. However I'm having problems with trying to get rid of the mites on my headphones. I've cleaned them 3 times already - I've used things like bleach, elbow grease, and even alcohol.. And they keep coming back.

I don't want to replace them as I'm currently tight on money, I just came on here to ask advice from those who have dealt with this issue before- And I'm also looking for recommendations on what cleaning methods I should use

Can anybody identify this and let me know possible treatment plan? A swarm showed up today and this is the second year in a row around this time.

Last year I sprayed them and they were gone the next day. Doesn’t seem like the best solution.

They are collecting at the corner of my paver patio and foundation. Thanks in advance.

General Question having an ant problem

Post image

hello all, let me get straight to the point, about 3ish weeks ago i noticed ants in my room (i do keep drinks and snacks in my room) i cleaned them up and completely moved all my snacks and cleaned that whole entire area. we found out some gushers melted in the box and thats where they were coming from. fast forward to today i was eating dinner in my room and i saw an ant crawl on the wall so i killed it and then noticed a bunch of them on my cookies, i just bought them yesterday at the store and they were NOT opened yet, they were sealed. i clean my room very frequently and idk if the ants are coming from some of the food like from the snacks sitting in the floor or if they’re coming from somewhere else. i clean up after myself constantly and i never leave food out or drinks out. my desk is right next to my snack area and no ants have been in the drawer of my desk or anything. i also have a window in my room and i’m curious if they could be coming through the window or something? first time having an ant problem and i’ve kept snacks in my room for years. i’m gonna have my mom get some ant bait at the store but is there any other way i can figure out exactly where they’re coming from? should i take all snacks and drinks out of my room until this is completely fixed? picture is the area i keep finding them in and where i keep my snacks at. i am deathly afraid of bugs, would appreciate any tips!

Found Cockroaches in new home on first day.

Hi,

We just moved into this house yesterday and while in the garage and moving stuff inside I found a huge roach climbing out of a hole in the garage from outside.
I immediately contacted my landlord and she said she will have pest control call in the morning. I immediately went through every single item and got rid of all the boxes, and looked all around the house and found and killed about 5 more roaches and they were only on the outside of the garage.
I then looked everywhere else and pulled the stove and fridge out and did not find anything. This house is also newly renovated besides the garage.
I’m just really freaking out because I don’t know if this means it was already an infestation or what.

I then did look at all 4 of the trash cans that they already had sitting at the curb for trash pick up and it’s all full of trash and roaches. Which all makes since why it’s only on the outside garage side where the cans were.
So do you think the renovators who left all the trash in the bins made them come or was there already roaches?
I’ve never had roaches before lol and I don’t know anything.

Yellow jackets entering bedroom

Hello!

Have/had what is/was a YJ nest in the wall as I saw a bunch of YJ flying in and out of an outdoor light fixture, was not flush against the wall. I ended up getting stung once outside and so called pest control. They came out and dusted it. YJ activity is gone but about 2 weeks later started seeing mainly dead YJ in the bedroom (literally room right above where the light is, like on the same wall). Probably seen total of like 15 over 2 weeks, with most of them dead. However I have a newborn and one did sting my wife (from what I understand likely a fluke where she aggravated it inadvertently).

From my research on this sub, I wish the pest control company had used alpine wsg, as I am guessing (and this is what I'm curious about) the dusting likely blocked the entrance from the outside so whatever is left alive/hatching is making it's way inside. Is this accurate? If I had known, I would have done this myself and saved 300$.

I live in the DC area, so I know if I wait a bit, they will likely all die off and I won't have this issue but I'd like to take back my bedroom and not have any worry about my daughter getting stung. Would it be feasible to take a borescope thru that light fixture, find where the nest is if possible, then direct inject raid max ant and roach. Or is it not worth it? Or is it possible there is another nest causing the mostly dead (but seen maybe 5 alive over 2 weeks) YJs to enter the bedroom?

Thanks!

General Question Do I need to remove my bedding before I spray Advion? What type of spray bottle is recommended?

Found a few roaches crawling on the wall right next to my bed, and I’ve bought advion. I want to spray it before work in a few days, but I have 2 questions:

1) Do I need to completely remove my bedding beforehand if I spray the crevices of the wall? The bed is only a couple of inches away.

2) What kind of bottle do I use? The label says coarse, low pressure spray and I found this on Amazon. Is it good?

Powder post beetles

I have signs of powder post beetles in my crawl space, which is very moist. I have a crew going down to get the seasonal wetness under control with a new vapor barrier and sump pump system, and had a pest control company come out to inspect

The pest control company seemed to try scare tactics saying that my whole house was going to fall down if I didn't immediately contract with them for 10k (with 10% off just to be nice!), citing the beetles, some signs of carpenter ants, dry rot, the works. After that I had some other folks come out with a very different assessment - that the joists all look fine and there is no measurable sag anywhere in the house- and I'm a bit confused.

Question is - how do I know if I should treat for powderpost beetles or do some kind of wood preservative treatment?
