These are insects or other invertebrates commonly misidentified as bedbugs!

Not bed bugs.

know it's foggy but I remember it was a bit red with 6 legs. I don't remember if I seen antennas. I'm not sure what to do and I'm worried because I don't get on the bed after being outside so I keep the bedroom clean.

Useful Information I need help

• Upvotes

So i was staying at my friends for over a week and woke up to a bed bug crawling on me

2 actually

Flipped out

Put them in Tupperware

Took detailed photos and videos to be sure

And made a plan immediately as my friend seems to this he can just wait to deal with it.

All my things are in garbage bags as my friend is refusing to fix the problem

I made him wash all my clothing on hot and in the dryer for 30 mins and straight into sealed garbage bags and i put all my other few belongings in separate sealed garbage bags

I also showered and immediately changed into clean washed clothing after showering throughly and then placed the onesie I had worn in a separate sealed garbage bag as to avoid any if those bastards further hitching a ride on my clothing or beloningings hoping I can at least get away and salvage my dignity that way

and left the premises as soon as possible

Im going to rewash all the clothing at a laundromat in the exact same manner and am trying to figure out what to do with my belongings in the sealed garbage bags that are now in my dads shed as I have no where to go .

Any advice on what I can do further means a lot

as this has been devastating to me as I was evicted and had my new rental fall through a day before October 1st so this was supposed to be where I could be safe and sober while finding a new rental this month but I guess you make plans and god laughs or whatever the expression is

Ive been dealing with massive health issues on top of all my problems so I just need advice on handling the clothes and belongings that are sealed away in garbage bags in the shed.

Requesting community support Is it possible to get rid of bedbugs without professional intervention?

Help! What would you do?

My parents had an infestation and one carried over to my home.

We had the infestation contained to one bedroom and we found the hotspot was the wooden bed frame. We tossed it, doused the entire room in some cleaner off amazon and haven’t seen a bug in over a month.

My parents are now tenting their home and insist i do the same. They say if i don’t get professional intervention, we aren’t welcome over to their home.

Would you tent it? Wait it out? Obviously, I’d love to save the money if i can. This has turned into quite the family drama and I’d love the opinion of the internet.

Are these bedbug stains or just random grudge. They were on underside of duvet but not the top sheet. It’s midnight and I’m on my second room on a different floor after the first room has serious evidence.

I just got off a 10 hour flight and have work in 5 hours and can’t think straight anymore.

Bed bugs are genuinely ruining my life. How do you get rid of them for GOOD?

I just need to vent because I'm genuinely at my wit's end with these little demons. At this point, they deserve to be called BITCH BUGS.

The amount of money, time and energy I've spent trying to get rid of them is ridiculous. Why is it so expensive?!

The worst part is that every time I think I've finally got rid of them, THEY COME BACK. I'll go weeks without seeing one, finally start feeling comfortable in my own home, and then suddenly spot another little bastard crawling around like it pays rent.

It's honestly mentally exhausting. I can't even relax in my own bed anymore. Every little itch makes me paranoid, every speck of dirt gets inspected, and I'm constantly checking for signs of them.

I'm even seeing them in my dreams now. 😭 As if dealing with them in real life wasn't enough, they're haunting me in my sleep too.

I've watched Mark Rober's video on bed bugs and have been trying to educate myself on how to actually eliminate them. But there's so much conflicting advice out there, and I really don't want to keep wasting money on things that don't work.

I'm just tired of the constant cleaning, checking, worrying and getting my hopes up, only to end up back at square one.

For anyone who's successfully got rid of bed bugs:

What actually worked for you?

Has anyone tried the methods from Mark Rober's video?

Are there any affordable treatments you'd recommend?

How long did it take before you were confident they were completely gone?

I'm based in the UK, so recommendations for products or treatments available here would be especially helpful.

I just want to feel comfortable in my own home again without constantly worrying about these little monsters. 😭

i found two or three of these so far all within the past week which i thought was really weird but it’s fall in new york so i just assumed they were bugs crawling in from the window (my bed right up is against the window) but i crushed one the other day and it was full of blood. i’m like 99% sure they’re bedbugs and i want to literally throw up right now holy shit. i’ve never had this happen before in my entire life and i know they’re notoriously IMPOSSIBLE to get rid of. but all three of them were found in bed (two on me and one crawling on the blanket)

me and the bf don’t have any bites so far which is weird?? and i’ve never seen them up until like 7-10 days ago. i also have NO clue how we could have gotten them either, we haven’t stayed anywhere else recently, didn’t bring anything home inside, no visitors really aside from my niece but she hasn’t sat on the bed. we do live in an 2 story apartment through and we have neighbors downstairs. ugh. someone please tell me that it’s wrong, i know right though huh :( idk what other kind of bug would have blood inside of it like that. AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Help are these bedbug droppings on my outlet?

Are these bedbug droppings? I can see shells of bugs around it too. At first I thought it was an electrical issue but I noticed a few spots on the a/c that is plugged into it too. It almost looks like someone took a sharpie marker and put pokadots all over it. This is not close to my bed or anything fabric. I just purchased pillows from Home Goods and had them stored over here but washed the covers before using them on my couch. I also ordered a custom couch cushion from Amazon too. So a lot of new fabrics coming into the house. When I searched both the pillows and cushion I didnt find any droppings or bugs. I also dont see anything alive around this. I havent been itchy or noticed any bites. Nothing anywhere else in the house besides here. Im honestly really freaked out and have a phobia of bugs so trying not to blow this out of proportion if its nothing. Any advice would be appreciated.

Requesting community support Had 6 months free, now found one

Omg. We had to move back in April and did a massive deep clean of everything, did the washer/dryer, bagged all stuff, I sprayed crossfire all over the new room we moved into, sprayed the brand new twin mattresses bf and I got, sprayed all the milk crates we use for storage and to prop beds on, sprayed all the totes and lids before placinf items into them and stacking them in the room etc etc ETC ETC.

ZERO bedbugs and I wake this morning to bf showing me a not quite adult size BB he caught that was running across his bed side. It's in an empty soda bottle. Omg we can't go through this again. SIX MONTHS WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FREE OF THEM. he's ready to just toss all his stuff and go live outside in a tent. I don't blame him.

Requesting community support Exposed to nymphs at Airbnb after they treated - how much precaution?

So on the second night of our stay at an Airbnb, I noticed 2 tiny red bugs on my pillow after I’d been sitting in bed and came back from brushing my teeth. The host confirmed they’d found bed bugs about a month prior, sprayed 3 times, used heat treatment and replaced bedding/duvet/pillows (just not the mattress). I don’t have any obvious bites but the bugs were very red when we squashed them like they had fed. We saw maybe 5 bugs total on the entire bed and couldn’t draw more out with blow dryer heat on the mattress, nor were there signs of an infestation on the corners. I’m hoping it was the beginnings of the leftover eggs hatching and not a full blown infestation.

All clothes that came with me on the trip, including jackets and packing cubes were washed/dried on high heat. My hard case suitcase was stored on an elevated bench in the Airbnb but is outside baking in the sun for a few days. I have my shoes, a soft travel bag and purse out in the garage still, trying to figure out what to do with them whether it be dryer or steam. Nothing has really come inside the house yet. Am I right to think I will be able to do enough to prevent bringing them inside? Asking mostly for peace of mind here as I know no one will have the answer but I’m not sure I’m doing enough even though the infestation wasn’t in my own home.

I was traveling with two flight attendants who are totally desensitized to bbs and they felt it was about the best case scenario. I definitely feel better knowing it was only the nymphs and we didn’t find them anywhere else, but obviously don’t want to even slightly risk bringing them inside.

I've looked at so many pictures and I'm freaking out. I just can't be sure. It's larger than a quarter inch. I don't have any bites. There's no blood on my sheets. But I did find this bug walking on my bed.

Stayed at in airbnb in Reno, and I've been washing my sheets every few days. I've had some bites, but stopped the past couple of days. After line drying my sheets, I found this while putting them back on. Is it too small to be a bed bug? Could it be something else?

Thanks!

Any chance this is not a bedbug?

Found this one prancing on my desk in the evening. Looks exactly like a bedbug nymph to me, my nightmare since forever. Any chance at all it's something else?

There's an old mattress in the room we used for a few days after we moved into the place a few months back. It was stored in an empty house of our family's for years before. Back then, I checked the seams on it and could not find any bb evidence. Our actual bed (with a new mattress) is in the other, adjacent room.

Feeling sick right now.

Some of these photos are of the same object either flipped to the opposite side or in different lighting. They are all a little hard and wouldn’t EASILY crumble in my hand if I tried to crumble one, I feel like. Are these from bed bugs???

Hi,

I'm currently concerned about bed bugs and found this under my mattress and it can only have appeared recently, as it wasn't there before.

It's fairly hard and I can't see anything that would suggest its related. No movement.

Requesting community support Bed bugs for the first time in my life

I am absolutely horrified at the thought that there is a huge chance of me having bed bugs. I have been crying and panicking all day.

Not even a week ago, I noticed bite marks on my arm, but to be honest I thought it’s something else, fleas maybe. That day I went over to my bf’s house and spent 2 days there. Nothing happened. I came home, I washed my bedding and my pj and for a couple days I had no bites. Until yesterday when I noticed 4 very diferent bites from the first I got: 2 on my leg and 2 on distinct spots on my arm. I freaked out. Started looking everywhere in my bed, and I saw some black spots on 2 corners of my white mattress. That kinda sums it up. Bedbugs.

I spent the whole day calling pest control businesses, trying to find out that actually does something. The one I wanted was too expensive so I went with a different one, but I’m so scared they will not do the job correctly because they don’t have a heating room to put my clothes in. What if they’re on my clothes? I can’t wash everything at maximum temperature because it’s gonna destroy everything.

I also cleaned the whole house today, bleaches everything, I know it doesn’t kill bedbugs but I just feel so dirty even if I shower. I live in this constant fear now. I don’t know if it will ever go away. The pest control thing will come the day after tomorrow. Let’s see.

My cat tried to eat this last night out of the bed and then jumped up and was kind of scraping his tongue. I wanted to know what’d happened (I thought litter or something) and switched on lights and found this guy. I really don’t want to be right

EDIT: Well shit. I think I’m super early in detection. I just got back from a trip hours before spotting this guy. I had had people cat sitting for me for the 5 days I was gone. Is it possible to totally prevent the infestation at this point (assuming it was introduced by my sitters or myself and not coming from another apartment)?

Hi I had my curtain hanged up most times, so today I finally decided to check it with a flashlight to see if there were some bedbugs on it or any signs of it.

I saw some sus black and brown spots on it, which I photographed to the best of my ability.

Please let me know if these are bedbug signs or just random marks on the curtain. Most of the time its hanging above me near the wall like in the last photo.
