Question How to sell a 5090 without getting scammed?
I purchased a 5090 (Aorus Master Ice) earlier this year for $3000. I really got into PC gaming after I got 4090 in 2023 but now I find myself jumping from game to game. I start a new game but then get bored easily and jump to new one and the cycle repeats. I don't really have any energy to game after work and classes. Maybe it's depression or just part of adulthood. Regardless, I am thinking about selling my 5090, but I am afraid of getting scammed.
I sold my 4090 to ItsWorthMore and got around $1100 for it at the time. Thinking about about selling again to them but their offer seems low ($4500) compared to what I see on ebay listings. I have never sold anything on ebay successfully or any other marketplace. How can I ensure I don't get scammed if I do decide to sell on ebay? Seen some horror stories on reddit lately.

Question How to combine gaming pc setup with MacBook productivity setup
Looking for ideas/inspiration. I took a break from gaming and took down my setup (lian li 011 vision compact PC and LG 32 OLED monitor, superstrike mouse, wooting v2 keeb) and replaced it with a productivity set up (MacBook Pro, studio display xdr, old glorious keyboard, Magic Trackpad)
I'm wondering if it's possible to combine the setups into one desk without it looking insane. I tried once before and it was just... too much. I'm picky when it comes to display I guess, I wasn't happy with the way the LG worked with my Mac so I coughed up the funds for the Studio Display and it works perfectly ofc. So I'm happy with both set ups the way they are but now the task is trying to combine them into one, clean looking setup. That is, wanting to hook back up my PC to game.
Any inspiration or advice would be nice.

Question Purchasing new gpu
Iām planning on purchasing a 5080 and need help deciding wether I should buy it early next month (earliest I can) or wait for Christmas/Boxing Day and buy then as it could be cheaper (worst case they increase the price so much that discounted is the same as normal price) or purchase next month and return if cheaper on Boxing Day /Christmas and buy with the discounted price (never done something like this before so not sure if something like this would even work)

Tech Support PC not detecting second monitor
Hey all, I'm experiencing a consistent issue with my computer- in that it's not detecting my second monitor. I've tried a few things, such as:
Removing and re-inserting cables,
Swapping cable connections between monitors,
Turning it off and on again,
Refreshing my GPU with windows+ctrl+shift+B,
Checking my GPU drivers for updates (This is a separate issue in which my drivers seem to be in an infinite loop of needing to be downloaded/installed),
Removing my GPU drivers entirely from my computer using DDU and reinstalling them cleanly,
Physically removing my GPU itself and putting it back in.
This is driving me up the wall, and I can't seem to find any real fixes for it that last.
It happens maybe once or twice a month- and has been happening for roughly the last 6 months.
I am using AMD drivers, with an AMD RX 7800 XT GPU.
Thanks, for taking the time to read :)

Build/Battlestation PROJECT MAXOUT: I Didn't Just Want a Faster PC, I Wanted to Push It Way Further Than I Probably Should Have ... But Holy Shit What a Rabbit Hole I Ended Up In
Grab a seat, here's 3 months of daily tweaking crammed into one Reddit post lol
So for the past 3 months I've basically been fucking around with every setting I could find on my PC. BIOS, voltages, RAM timings, CPU power limits, GPU overclocks, Windows scheduling, you name it.
Started with a few BIOS tweaks and somehow ended up replacing a defective motherboard and writing my own PowerShell scripts. No idea how I got from one to the other but here we are. The goal was pretty simple, MAXOUT. I wanted to see how much performance I could squeeze out of this thing without constantly throwing money at new hardware. And I wanted it to be something I could actually use every day, not some ridiculous overclock that crashes the second I open a game.
Originally I had an i7-13700K on an ASUS ROG Strix board, 32GB DDR5-6000 CL40 and an RTX 4080. Spent ages messing with the 13700K. Got into 5.4GHz P-cores, 4.2GHz E-cores, around 4.8GHz cache, adaptive voltage around 1.28 to 1.30V and LLC Level 4. Had one test running around 220W at 82°C without thermal throttling. Pretty decent, but I got bored of just playing with multipliers.
So naturally I bought a locked CPU instead.
An i7-14700F. With an MSI B760M Project Zero. Yeah I know, buying a locked F-series CPU for an overclocking project sounds completely backwards. That's why I wanted to try it. No easy multiplier changes, just figuring out what else I could squeeze out of it. Started messing with Lite Load, power limits, RAM, cooling, pretty much everything MSI would let me touch. Ended up with Lite Load Mode 14, PL1 181W and PL2 219W. Even spent an embarrassing amount of time adjusting fan curves because apparently the fans changing speed every few seconds was enough to annoy me into another evening of BIOS tweaking.
And then I noticed something that genuinely pissed me off. My RTX 4080 was running at PCIe x2. X2. On a fucking 4080.
I'd been sitting there trying to squeeze every last bit of performance out of my system while the GPU wasn't even getting its proper PCIe connection. Checked BIOS settings, reseated things, went through all kinds of troubleshooting. Turned out the motherboard was defective. Replaced it and boom, PCIe 4.0 x16. Could've saved myself quite a few hours if I'd known that from the start lol
Now the RAM, this is where I probably spent the most time staring at numbers. I had a 32GB DDR5-6000 CL40-40-40-77 kit at 1.35V. Instead of buying something faster I figured I'd see how far this one would go.
First got it to 6400 CL30-38-38-72 at 1.45V, Gear 2, 2T.
Which was already pretty nice. But obviously I couldn't just leave it there.
Kept tightening things and eventually got DDR5-6400 CL28-36-36-68, tRC 110, still at 1.45V VDD/VDDQ.
CPU-Z shows around 3192MHz, roughly 6384 MT/s effective. Also messed around with tREFI at 32768 and ran OCCT along the way. Got a screenshot from 1h53 into a two-hour CPU stress test showing zero errors. I think this was the moment I really started enjoying the whole thing a bit too much. Every time I got something working I'd immediately start wondering what else I could change.
GPU overclocking was less fun.
Tried a bunch of profiles in MSI Afterburner. +200/+1000, +250/+1200, a custom curve around 2830MHz with +1200 memory, even messed with +325/+1250. And the annoying part was that some of them looked completely fine at first.
I'd be gaming for hours thinking I'd finally found a good profile and then suddenly everything would go to shit. One time my FPS completely tanked and parts of the screen started stretching downwards like the image was literally melting.
What the fuck even causes that lol
Eventually I stopped messing with those aggressive profiles and went with NVIDIA Automatic Tuning instead. Currently +85MHz GPU and +200MHz VRAM. Not some insane offset, but I'm fine with that. I've already had enough of watching my screen turn into modern art. Then there's the PowerShell stuff. This wasn't even part of the original plan.
I play Dota 2 at 4K with everything maxed out on an ASUS PG32UCDMR 240Hz OLED. That's also what I've been using to compare performance throughout the project. And because Dota can be pretty demanding on the CPU, especially when things get hectic, I got curious about how Windows was handling the load.
The 14700F has 8 P-cores and 12 E-cores, so I started looking at which threads were doing the work and where Windows was putting them. One thing led to another and I ended up writing a PowerShell script that monitors Dota's threads, identifies a busy one and requests P-core CPU Sets for it.
Then I made it automatically detect when the game starts, handle restarts and run through Task Scheduler. Three months earlier I was just changing BIOS settings and now I'm sitting there watching individual CPU threads in PowerShell because apparently playing the actual game wasn't enough of a challenge anymore.
Also went through Intel VTune, PresentMon, OCAT, HWiNFO, CPU-Z and OCCT. At some point I had so many monitoring tools open I could barely see what I was testing.
Anyway, the FPS results.
Before all this I was getting around 150 FPS max with 90 FPS 1% lows in Dota 2 at 4K, everything maxed out. Now I'm getting around 240 FPS max with 225 FPS 1% lows in my gameplay tests.
Same game, same 4K resolution, same max settings. That's 60% more peak FPS and 150% better 1% lows. The peak FPS is cool and all, especially with a 240Hz monitor, but those 1% lows are what really got me. Going from 90 to 225 is a massive difference. And that's the result of the whole project, not me claiming a PowerShell script somehow magically added 90 FPS on its own.
Current setup is an i7-14700F, MSI B760M Project Zero, RTX 4080, 32GB DDR5-6400 CL28 and the ASUS PG32UCDMR 4K 240Hz OLED. CPU is on Lite Load 14 with 181W/219W power limits, PCIe is finally running at x16, fan curves are dialed in, NVIDIA Automatic Tuning is doing +85/+200 and the PowerShell setup runs automatically when I launch Dota.
Looking back at all this, I genuinely have no idea how many hours I've spent messing with this PC. Could I have just left it alone and played games? Yeah obviously
But where's the fun in that
I wanted to find out how far I could push the hardware, and going from 150/90 FPS to 240/225 at 4K while getting my original CL40 RAM down to CL28 is a pretty damn good outcome if you ask me. I'll throw the BIOS, CPU-Z, OCCT and tuning screenshots into a gallery so you guys can have a look at the actual settings.
Anyway that's Project MAXOUT so far. 3 months of daily tweaking, a dead motherboard, a bunch of GPU crashes and way too much time spent staring at RAM timings. And the worst part is I already know I'm gonna open BIOS again tomorrow lol
Anyone else gone this far with their setup or am I just losing my mind at this point?

Tech Support Undiagnosable Computer Issues, Desperate for Help
Description:
I have been struggling with a lot of issues over the course of the last year with my rig and nothing I've tried has worked so far from reinstalling drivers with DDU clean wipes and trying out different versions over and over again, doing RAM tests and running sfc scannow for system corruptions, minus anything like reinstalling my OS and trying out different parts just because of expenses and not having a USB with enough space to use as a bootable drive
Symptoms:
Over the summer, it was my displays randomly going black after launching a game, opening a discord stream, I.E. rendering graphics/video of any kind. Using the Windows + P command to change display settings from Extend and then resetting to back to that option would work sometimes, but the system would always be extremely unstable that point on until I restarted my computer. Specifically what I found weird with the instances in which the discord stream blackouts were occurring was that I could drag the window up and down and the entire monitor's display down from the top of the displayed video was completely pitch black as if the LEDs were just off, and I could drag the window up and down to physically move the line at which my display was showing pitch black in real time.
Lately, I've had Explorer crash once, my displays turn off all of a sudden with audio still being output from the system yet unable to communicate through my microphone even though I could hear my friends clearly, and overall the system has just been running slower over time(unable to cache shaders anywhere near as fast, extremely system lag/interference when installing anything that I never used to experience only just earlier this year, etc.), and I've found that just in general I've had strange moments of hitching when hovering over UI elements in games like Arc Raiders, lag on pressing escape to open the pause menu in Deadlock, and so on.
More recently, I've also been noticing that upon staying powered overnight, it used to crash/BSOD while I was asleep, referring to an error code 0x000000ef (0xffffa604ce5d30c0, 0x0000000000000000, 0xffffa604ce5d30c0, 0x0000000000000000) in Event Viewer. Upon researching and opening the dump file it created with this error, I did find that it has to do with a known faulty driver file called amdkmdag.sys but I was unable to find anything on how to proceed with this information
I've been completely incapable of diagnosing what has actually been happening through everything that I've tried, though I can at least say it isn't RAM (hopefully) given the Memtest86 tests that passed yesterday I'd performed. My monitors blacking out seem to be doing better after swapping out the HDMI/DP cables I was using prior with some brand new ones I just ordered, but I still am rather concerned about the system at-large. Idk if anything I described is indicative of anything specific that I couldn't find info on, but I'm desperate to be able to use my computer comfortably again. It was not having this many issues only 9 months ago.
Specs:
- GPU: RX 9070 XT
- CPU: Intel Core I5-13600k
- Corsair Vengence 32GB RAM
- Corsair 850w PSU

Tech Support looking for help
im trying to figure out why my pc keeps crashing while i game. i can get about 20 mins playing warframe on the lowest settings. then it hard freezes/crashes. my hardware specs are intel 11th gen i7, nvidia rtx 3060 ti 16 gig of ram. ive done the very basic checks/test like windows memory diagnostic and have had no luck, it not overheating and the percentages of both cpu and gpu are within the normal. my best guess to my very limited knowledge is it may be my power supply, i did buy the pc second hand its a cyberpower pc if that helps any. outside of the gaming the computer runs and works fine. ill appreciate any feedback to help resolve this issue.

Build Help / Purchase Advice Should I upgrade my ram to 32gb? or buy a new laptop?
Hi. I have a laptop and it has i5 11th gen, rtx 3070 (8gb) and 16gb of ram. Games I play are arena breakout infinite, delta force and EFT. The thing is the fps is not stable, especially on delta force where I get inconsistent fps(sometimes 130+ and sometimes 70fps on lowest settings). I care about fps and nothing else so those games are based on CPU, should i buy a new laptop for better CPU or should I upgrade my ram first?

Build Help / Purchase Advice Lian Li Fan Edge Covers 140mm TL Wireless (Request)
Looking for STL Files for Lian Li UNI FAN TL Wireless 140mm Edge Covers
Hey everyone! Does anyone happen to have an STL file for edge covers for the Lian Li UNI FAN TL Wireless 140mm fans that theyād be willing to share?
Iāve searched around online, but the only 140mm STL Iāve found doesnāt seem to fit properly after printing. Iāve found edge cover files for the 120mm version, and those fit great, but I havenāt had any luck finding a working version specifically for the 140mm fans.
If anyone has a tested STL for the 140mm edge covers or knows where I can find one, Iād really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance! Hopefully, someone in the community has a solution! š

Build Help / Purchase Advice i5 8400 VERY high temps even with an AIO
Hello, Iām new to reddit and donāt use it a lot so sorry if this has been asked before or if Iām posting in the wrong sub.
My concern is basically the title, my i5 8400 is pushing 94C under load on HWiNFOās āCPU Packageā even with a brand new AIO. Idle and medium load is fine, it stays between 30-65C.
Iāve tried re-mounting and re-pasting, also looked at the radiator fans and the pump RPM and everything is functioning well and stable.
Iām so lost, any advice would be appreciated, thanks beforehand!

Discussion This hobby is heartbreaking
I joined the pcmr back in 2024 after being on console for 15 years and it was the best decision i ever made, i basically forgot about my console overnight and havenāt looked back since but since day one Iāve had problems with my rig. Random shut downs, blue screens, hardware problems, OS corruptions, driver issues and countless hours of troubleshooting, now most of these issues have been dealt with but recently i had a problem with all my games crashing under load, i traced it to a bad pcie lane and i had to buy a new mobo and now after a windows update my games started crashing again and its all just exhausting. Iāve never really bought too many nice things for myself but when i built my pc and dropped over a grand on components and i booted on the first try i hadnāt felt that proud in a long time, i did so much research and ensured i wasnāt buying junk and for it to just keep failing when i see all my friends have computers that never have issues is just so heartbreaking and makes me wonder if i made a mistake. Is this all par for the course of owning a pc and Iām just winging?
