Baby Names Margaret with nickname Daisy?

I’m like 3 seconds pregnant with my second and can’t stop thinking about baby names already. I have a daughter named Claire, and was thinking about naming #2 Margaret if it’s a girl with the nickname Daisy. So my questions are:

Do Claire & Margaret/Claire & Daisy flow together as a sibling set?

Will people understand the Margaret/Daisy nickname? I know Daisy is a traditional nickname for Margaret but will other people get it or will she be set up for people asking questions about it forever?

Margaret was my late mother in law’s name and I thought it would be nice to incorporate her name in some way if we have a girl.

Baby Names Help with naming twin girls

Hi, our girls were due in December but I had a partial rupture of my water last night and am now on bed rest in the hospital indefinitely. We have been pretty set on one name but really need help deciding on a second name. It’s been difficult for my husband and I to agree on a second name but we both want it to have important meaning (especially anything meaning freedom or compassion) and ideally not super common of a name although I have always loved Clara (my husband is not on board unfortunately).

The name we are set on is Adelaide (Addie).

Options we have been close to landing on for the 2nd: Sabrina, Lenora

I personally love Clara and am debating Georgia too.

Appreciate all the help! I thought I had much more time to think about the 2nd name but alas…it seems we may need to land on something as soon as possible.

Thank you!

Baby Names Girl or neutral names that mean strong or determined

Hi!
I am pregnant after several losses and this is a very high risk, miserable, difficult pregnancy but this girl is sticking around somehow despite it all 💗

I’m looking for a name that means stubborn, strong, determined, fated, resilient or something in that vein. She still has a long way to go but I want to start calling her something so she knows she can stay and fight & we can win this.

I have a daughter named Marlowe. I know Marlowe is a controversial choice here but I love it and it’s so her. I’m open to more gender neutral type names too!

Thank you in advance for your help- I love all the beautiful, creative and meaningful names I see you all come up with on this sub.

Baby Names Looking for a name for our 2nd girl that pairs well with our first daughter’s name!

We have a 14 month old named Violet James (my husbands middle name) and I absolutely love her name. I want something soft, feminine, but may be a little unexpected. (No Ellie’s or Eleanor’s or Olivia’s or anything like that)

We just found out we’re having another girl today due in April!

Unfortunately, some of the names that I like seem really close to Violet (example: Violet and Lisette or Violet and Colette both have the hard “-let” ending).

So far on my list I have:
Lettie
June / Junie
Georgia or Georgina
Josephine nn Josie

I’m curious if all your name gurus out there have some suggestions that would work well with our daughter’s name without having such a similar ending! Thanks in advance!

Baby Names Thoughts on name April?

Hi everyone, I’d love some outside perspective on the name we have chosen (please be kind because I am really pregnant and hormonal 😂)

Even before I was pregnant, I was in love with the name April. It feels so classic and feminine, and it sounds lovely with my firstborns name.
We’ve been calling my bump April like it's already her name, and I felt really settled on it.

Recently, though, I'm starting to doubt myself because my husband casually joked she would get called "Ape" as a nickname. Now I'm really spiralling she'll get teased or bullied with that in school.

Has anyone used this name, or know an April, wee have any thoughts on the teasing potential? Am I overthinking it because of hormones, or is that nickname something I should worry about?

Thanks in advance! 💛

P.S. It hadn’t even crossed my mind to worry about whether she'll be born in April until I searched the name on this subreddit and saw people talking about it! Should I actually be worried about her birth month not aligning? I never even considered it as a calendar month—I just think it’s such a beautiful name. Due in January!

Discussion Zoe as a middle name

Okay I had posted earlier a question about whether or not Colette Zoe worked and was overwhelmingly told no 😂 appreciate the honesty of this group sometimes.

So, I’m curious, are there any names you do particularly like or that you think work well with Zoe?

Thinking through options for a third girl. My older two are Margot and Eloise, and their middle names are 4 & 2 letters. Zoe has special meaning to us and the fact that it would be a 3 letter middle name feels very satisfying. Let me know if there’s any you all can think of!

Baby Names Please help me love the name Francis again

My son is due this week and I'm starting to get cold feet about the name we've chosen, Francis. It's a family name so I'm very committed to using it, but I'm just really not loving it right now. I think hearing what other people like about the name could potentially help.

This is my third child and I had a very hard time naming my second child, so this isn't a new phenomenon and it's probably somewhat hormonal.

Sib set will be:
Julian
Naomi
Francis (nn Frankie possibly)

Fun and Games You have to name your daughter after a precious stone- i.e. Crystal, Amber, Ruby, Pearl, Jewel, Jade, Opal, Beryl, Amethyst, Gem, Esmeralda, etc. etc. What name are you picking?

Names don't necessarily need be in English, as per "Esmeralda" rather than "Emerald" in the title! If you like Amatista more than Amethyst, for example, please say so!

Name Change Can't believe i'm asking this: What do I change my first name to between two choices?

I'm finally 18 years old. I've carried around my deadbeat father who I've never met's last name. I want my mom's last name, that's easy. But, i'm half japanese half filipino, and Masaharu was supposed to be my middle name but my biological deadbeat said no. However, the family I grew up with is Japanese and i've always been called that. My mom is a 1st generation, she speaks Japanese and English very well, I love my mom. My current name is Gavin. Of course, I live in America so Gavin is a lot easier to pronounce than Masaharu. Online, I've always been known as Masaharu.

Obviously, Masaharu fits a Japanese last name more than Gavin but it really comes down to my real life friends call me Gavin but they know I also go by Masaharu. So it's either Masaharu as my first name or Gavin as my first name and then my middle name being the other. I'm really conflicted. Like, really. Please help.

Baby Names Our baby name -

Hi everyone. We named our daughter Aria because I loved the meaning of air and melody in Italian.

Recently I got an intrusive random thought that it sounds like diarrhea and I can’t stop thinking about it now (to mention, I do struggle with ocd)

I guess I’m just looking for reassurance that this is a pretty name

Character/Fictional Names Looking for Southern Names for Characters

• Upvotes

I am DEAD SET on Riley for the main character (he's a boy) and I have another character named Sarah Mae who is, like, annoyingly devout Christian. But I can't think of names for my other characters. I have gone through so many.

some I have thought of: Kameron, Malik, JJ (Jeremy Jackson), Hudson, Ben, Jensen, and Scott.

I live in the south, but all the names I have come across in my personal life I just...really don't like. (Names like Josie, Sean, Ginny, Eli, Jason, Lilianna.)

For girls, I had Charlotte, Sadie, Josephine, Sylvia, Ella, Alice, Piper, and Olivia.

Any suggestions? Also, do any of these sound "Southern enough"?

EDIT: not 100% sure if this matters, but two of the characters are African American. They were originally going to be Charlotte and Kameron before I decided those felt very northerner. I could be wrong, but I just didn't get deep south vibes from Kameron, Ben, Jensen, and Charlotte.

Baby Names Cyrus or Julian? Help us decide

Hi all! Baby boy due in about 6 weeks, and we are having a hard time with names. Our first was a girl and I find girl names so much easier. She is Althea.

My husband is Persian so one reason we are drawn to Cyrus is that it is Persian in origin. We both like it but have gone hot and cold on it throughout the pregnancy. I think my main hesitation is that I’m not sure what the connotations are for people who don’t immediately think of it as Persian. Part of me feels like it gives southern US vibes? What does it make you think of?

Our daughter is absolutely convinced he is named Julian and hasn’t wavered. I love this since it was already high on my name list. It took my husband some time but he has also come around to it. I like that it is softer sounding and kind of musical. We obviously wouldn’t choose it just because our two year old insists, but we both do like it.

Other names we both like:
Gabriel
Oscar

Other names I like that my husband is lukewarm on:
Eli
Otis
Desmond
Isaac
Nathaniel

Either way he will likely have a Persian middle name, top contender Vahid.

Thanks for your thoughts!
