It’s an hour. If the departure time lines up with your travel time you can save a shit ton of time. If you need to wait for the ferry though it’s diminishing returns. On the plus side there’s bar on board.
Yeah, my coworker lives in Hamburg (northeastern part of the city and has to drive to Oldenburg each monday morning which is roughly halfway between Bremen and the border to the Netherlands. He spends one half of his commute to navigate through Hamburg and the other half to drive from Hamburg to Oldenburg. 🤡
Yeah, that and also he is an engineer that oversees several building sites in a radius of 50 km around Oldenburg. It just doesn't make sense for him to not use his company car.
Haha, I was confused at first because the state of New York has a city named “Hamburg” and I thought you were making a joke about the city of New York since Hamburg, New York is about as far from NYC as you can get without leaving the state. (also, don’t visit Hamburg, NY)
The southern shore of Lake Erie is especially funny for this. Hamburg is just the tip of the iceberg. I once did a long bicycle tour there and the signs are hilarious. As you ride to Hamburg, the road shows signs for turns to reach places like Dunkirk, Barcelona, and Versailles.
More specifically to Midwest, the same is true driving from the northern Chicago Suburbs to the Western Chicago Suburbs when there's any amount of snow.
They probably meant NYC as a whole. There have been times where its taken me 2 hours to get into Upper Manhattan from the Nassau/Suffolk Border. I've left 10 min later and it takes me 4 hours. It's also taken me 6 hours to get home from the Thomas Edison Rest Stop on the Jersey TPK. If I could just cut out the city it would be amazing.

you can drive for 24 hours from Long Island to Albany and you'll STILL BE IN FUCKING LOWER MANHATTAN BECAUSE THIS CITY HAS TOO MUCH FUCKING TRAFFIC
