What bathrooms do non-binary or agender persons use

I really wish there was a 3rd option for the bathrooms, besides male and female but I don't have a say in this

I don’t know what to do anymore. It’s painful not knowing what the right thing to do is.

I’ve come across people who claim that transgender people who haven’t undergone gender-affirming surgery are “fake,” or that they have “internalized transphobia.”
And it’s not just one or two people—quite a few people seem to believe things like this…
That’s not true, is it? It’s perfectly okay to be transgender without undergoing gender-affirming surgery, right?
There’s so much criticism that I’m feeling completely overwhelmed and distressed…
Personally, I believe that if someone identifies as transgender, then they are transgender, regardless of their body, appearance, or whether they’ve had surgery. I also believe that gender-affirming surgery should not be a requirement for someone to be recognized as transgender.
But there are so many people criticizing others for this (or maybe they’re just the loudest voices?) that I’ve reached a point where I don’t know what to believe anymore.
Please, help me…

Need Advice I have a question

My younger sister (12) just told the family she’s bi. My only doubt is: is that age old enough to determine her sexuality, especially since she has never been in a relationship, nor expressed any signs of having the desire to do so?

and how should I move? me including my family thank god are really open to these things and they have no problem with it.

sorry for bad English and thank you in advance :)

I dont wanna look like a man when im older

I am an 18 year old bisexual guy, i like being a man, i look quite feminine in my face and im happy about that, I hate stereotypical masculinity and I would never like to be me the "man" in a relationship ( im in a relationship with a trans boyfriend so there is no gender roles)

Overall, I like my looks, and my life, i dress like a normal guy, i wouldnt say im a femboy or anything, i am a feminine guy, I dont feel a lot of gender dysphoria ( only some sometimes), my idols are pepole like david bowie or will toledo or robert smtih

But the vision of me being a 40year old guy with a beer belly or just having facial hair everywhere, or my face slowly looking more masculine makes me want to tear my skin off

I know I cant do anything about it, but I dont wanna look like a man in the future, like I dont wanna be a woman but I just hate the vision of me growing old as a ugly guy, all this started after I saw a tik tok of " femboys when they grow up" and it was a greasy ugly guy

Like this is my worst nightmare right now, I cant cope with aging and having a beard or hair everywhere or just overall, I hate body hair and stuff even though I like myself

I dont know what this means or what im gonna do with any of this , i just wanna vent man

And please no hate, I tried posting this on another sub but everyone just lashed out on me, i just wanna hear someone who had a similar expirience or just any advice at all

me and my friend disagree on transgender people?

me and this new friend(?) of mine recently got into a debate of transgender people and the meaning of gender.

he said that he thinks transitioning “has its cons” but he is friends with trans people and respects them. he also views gender as very black and white. i personally, think the opposite. gender affirming care is life saving and gender is a social construct that fits everyone differently.

we decided to agree to disagree, but i still feel weird about it. i don’t want to be friends or ass with someone who is iffy on the rights of trans people.

should i stop talking to him? or do i agree to disagree?

Need Advice Possible Transphobic Professor?

EDIT: Not possibly, definite. I have a habit of downplaying things to lessen the impact.

I'm in a new grad program heavily based in sociology. While discussing gender, the teacher played devil's advocate and "jokingly" said lots of backhanded things. (i.e. Saying that Freud was right about Penis Envy, and trans men just want some male privilege).

He brought up the drastic rise in cases of gender dysphoria and transition among transmasc/men, NB, etc. posing the question, "What's happening to our adolescent girls?"

Some of my classmates, likely ignorant to trans issues albeit, said that most trans men chose to transition, because they weren't allowed to live as lesbians, or have a difference in gender expression.

A few suggested that since the changing of GD in the DSM, and access to more affirming service providers have accounted for the change.

As a stealth trans man, (and one who was NEVER a lesbian) I was really mortified. I want to drop from the program, because I feel like it won't be safe to be myself or I'll be outed with no protections. (+ Yes, it's in a red state.)

Any advice or insight on how to handle the situation moving forward would help.

I have not reached out the professor, because I don't want to out myself.

Straight???

i'm really tired of my parents hating on us. you can look at these pics of some of the shows i mentioned. we watched Raising Dion the other day and they were complaining about Mr. Kwame just for existing. he was doing a talent show at school and my parents just hated his line and seeing his outfit. just bc he's gay. (1st pic)

then we started watching Matlock. and they turned it off a couple times when this couple appeared. and then a new episode came on and they turned if off after hearing about another lesbian couple who lost a child to food poisoning (it's a lawyer show). (2nd pic)

when we watched The Magic Prank Show they fast forwarded when this man proposed to his boyfriend. (3rd pic) when we watched Star Trek Discovery my dad would skip scenes between Paul Stamets and Dr. Hugh and said that Adira "wasn't their child." they wouldn't let me watch the new She Ra when it first came out. they said "it's kids man" when talking about representation in a remake of Franklin. they complain that Netflix "always makes sure there's somebody gay" in their shows. and looking back, they probably made us stop watching Cartoon Network because of Steven Universe or Adventure Time, but i'm not sure.

and there's other examples i could mention but you get it. i've talked about my family's prejudice multiple times, i don't understand how they can love and hurt me simultaneously.

i don't have much time to watch shows that actually represent me, i've been trying to catch up. what do y'all watch now, so when i'm free/can finally pay for stuff i can watch what my parents tried to keep from me? i really enjoy IDWTBAMG and I gotta get back to Owl House

Need Advice My gender identity.

Sometimes I feel like I’m outside the bounds of female. I don’t feel like a man. I don’t entirely feel like I fit the standard gender identity of female. I don’t like having a chest or I wish I could screw them on and off whenever I like. Or wear a binder most of the time. When I see pictures of me and see my chest I feel like I hate it. I don’t feel like a man, but I also don’t feel ENTIRELY like the “definition” of femininity or identifying as the word woman, y’know? I like the concept of she/they but I just don’t know a good definition. I recently heard of gender queer and that kinda made me think of it as a potential of who I am. I prefer being outside of gender norms. I don’t like dressing super feminine, but I also like to wear fun makeup. Anyways, any advice?

i think that, if you thought that the female singing was a man then finding out it was a women with a deep voice singing about a women and refusing to say it is a female, just because she was singing about loving a woman and you would be okay if she wasn't singing about another women is wrong.

Need Advice Can a 13yr be Asexual??

My friend was talking about her sexual attraction to her boyfriend and I have never felt such attraction to anyone. Obviously I love people romantically and platonicly but I've never felt like, "yup I wanna fuck them". I have a girlfriend and I love her but I could never love her sexually. I see nude bodies more artistic then sexual and don't get aroused from seeing them. I understand I could be young but it's been hitting me recently when I heard kids in my class talking about sex they've been having (which I think is way too young). I'm almost in high school and I'm aware sexual feelings can develop around middle school but I haven't been able to feel anything towards people in that manner. Is it possible I'm asexual or maybe just not fully developed??

⚠ Content Warning: {mention of s & thoughts heavy depression} I need advice... Spoiler

2 posts in a row, but...i just can't do it.

I'm non-binary, i go by He/They, i am afab, im not comfortable specifying my age but know I'm a teenager who hasn't gotten their period yet.

Looking in the mirror feels like looking at a stranger. I feel pain looking at the pathetic little insect i see when I look in the mirror. I hate myself, i hate how i look, i never clean myself, i never brush my hair, i never brush my teeth...cuz what's even the point? Why should I have to take care of this vessel I'm controlling? This isn't me. It never was me.

I'm pathetic. I have a bad stutter, i constantly forget what I'm saying, i have dyslexia and am constantly misreading things, i have a severe anxiety disorder and am constantly panicking over every little thing.

Nobody takes me seriously. Every time I try to tell people what I've been going through, they never take me seriously. My grandma thinks that i "chose" to be non-binary because of "whats been happening to women" like, does she think I'm stupid? Well, I AM, but, not stupid enough to decide to live a miserable life where i have a lot bigger likely hood of getting SHOT, and hardly have any rights. My brother (who i trust most out of all my family) thinks i have main character syndrome when i try to tell him that I'm miserable, and he thinks the only bad thing that's ever happened to me is trying to commit suicide, not even considering what I've been through that has almost led me to that. The rest of my family (basically) all hate me.

I don't pass AT ALL. People just automatically assume I'm a girl and I'm too scared of causing conflict to tell them.

I don't touch grass. I haven't been outside since the beginning of summer. I hate bugs and how hot/bright it gets out there.

I'm a doomscroller. I'm constantly on social media holding on to the tiniest sense of connection, cuz I can't make friends irl.

I really, REALLY want to change my name, but I can't. When I first came out to my mom, she asked if I was fine with my name. I wasn't. But i didn't tell her. I was too scared of not liking it, or it being confusing. I thought I'd mention my middle name instead. I told her it wasn't a big deal if she couldn't get it changed or if it would be too hard to change, and she brushed it off like i hadn't said anything.

I have crushes on cartoon characters. CARTOON CHARACTERS. Yeah, you read that right. I'm a freak. I also have celebrity crushes that are way older than me and I shouldn't be thinking about so much, but i can't help it.

I... probably shouldn't give this much info to REDDIT but...

Any advice is appreciated, but I understand if I'm too far gone.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Need Advice What has happened to me…

Sorry about the writing of this post if it is horrible, this is my first one.

I want to start off by saying that this all started when I was 17, and slowly growing distant from god. I do have more of a punk or alt-ish style, so I have had a few LGBT members make slightly flirty comments before this.

When I got my first job I didn’t have any friends and was kinda antisocial, usually just working with my headphones in. At some point I was introduced to a coworker (I won’t say his name) but he was more talkative with me. He would usually bring up things like how I need to speak more, or how he wanted to get to know me better. After a few months he would start to make almost flirty comments, which I didn’t really think of much at the time because I’ve seen the whole “bromance” thing before. Well slowly this turned into full on flirting EVERY conversation.

The other coworkers caught onto the situation and started to assume we were “talking”. Keep in mind I didn’t not reciprocate any of this towards him at all, because I am not a person to get into drama at work. Even when I would hang out outside of work with him and others it would STILL happen. Multiple times I would ask him flat out if he was gay or if he liked me, usually answered by him with “only for you” but clearly joking.

I don’t know if it is because of me struggling with my emotions or my lack of relationships at the time, but I started to catch feelings a little for him. We would hang out more often and I’d stay at his house sometimes. This led to a hookup that I now severely regret. I think my feelings at the time were just so confused and I was just desperate for some sort of answer.

As I kept working there I tried multiple times to get him to stop with the comments and flirting. I was getting uncomfortable to even move to his side of the kitchen, knowing that something else was going to be said.

Towards the end of my last year working there a bad situation with his parents went down. I won’t explain all the details but basically they moved away and left him to live by himself. A conversation was brought up by him, trying to get us to move in together. I said that it wasn’t going to happen and that it would cause to much problems between us. He was persistent about it, trying everything he could to get us to live together.

When I left that job I couldn’t and still haven’t mentally recovered from it. I blocked his number, stopped conversating and hanging out all together. I haven’t been able to make new friends or get a relationship because he is still in the back of my mind. He did try to apologize recently but I just feel like it’s way too late for saying sorry.

I genuinely don’t know how to feel anymore. I still consider myself straight, it just feels like I was so confused at the time. I needed to get this off my chest though so it doesn’t cloud my mind for any longer than it already has.

I finally came out to my parents but now I feel a bit vulnerable

• Upvotes

So I'm bi and have known for years, and last night I came out to my Dad in the car on the way to a football game. He's always supported gay and trans rights and I remember him bollocking my friend years ago for a homophobic comment, so I knew he'd be chill about it but it still felt scary for some reason

His reaction was basically "fair enough, how long have you known", and when I said I used to feel ashamed he reassured me there's nothing to be ashamed of and said he's there for me. And within 10 minutes we were talking about other things and went back to normal. Which for me is kinda perfect. I don't want it to be a big deal, and he basically said I'm the same person and it's not a problem, and then we just carried on talking about football and stuff. And we went on to win the game for an added bonus

So I'm definitely glad I told him. He said "looks like you've got some confusing times ahead" and made it sound like I can figure things out without feeling the need to hide it anymore which was nice

I came out to my mum years ago but said I was confused rather than saying I'm definitely bi. But recently I've realised it's definitely not just confusion, and I told her again so she knows properly now. Her reaction was very similar. I'm lucky with my parents as they're both pretty liberal when it comes to people being who they are and neither has ever had any issue with sexuality. They used to go to the rocky horror show when they were younger and dressed up in fishnets and makeup and everything. So idk why I even felt scared to tell them lol

So yeah I'm definitely safe and accepted, but for some reason I still feel vulnerable about it. Like this is something I've carried on my own for years and felt a lot of shame for growing up, and now suddenly the 2 people who raised me know about it. I know I shouldn't feel vulnerable and I want to shake it and be more comfortable, but I'm not sure how long that's gonna take

So I guess I came here to ask if anyone else has felt like this after coming out and see how they managed to feel comfortable with people knowing. And I suppose I feel a bit guilty for feeling vulnerable when I have accepting parents, as I know a lot of people will have homophobic parents and genuinely feel unsafe, and I feel like I shouldn't be having issues when I've grown up in a safe household. So just tryna feel comfortable and be myself without feel off about it

And I also just wanted to share as I am also quite excited about it. Like I can really be myself now without hiding that part of me!

Need Advice Queer Baiting

Hey I'm writing an article on query baiting and I need some examples of it.

I'm not the most up to date on pop culture so if you could also explain the show a little and how it queer baited a couple that would be super helpful.

I want to talk about SpideyPool within it too, so if you have any specific issues or know anything about how SpideyPool has contributed to queer baiting, that would be much appreciated. Thank You!!

homens traem tanto quanto mulheres?

o título não ajuda, mas sempre pensei que era muito mais comum mulheres em relacionamentos lésbicos traírem mais com homens do que o oposto, ou seja, homem em um relacionamento gay trair com uma mulher.

isso faz sentido ou é só a minha bolha?

Need Advice Mother bought and ripped up a children’s book with queer parents

My mom bought this children’s book where many different types of parents were portrayed. It talked about how some kids have one parent and some kids have gay parents. But also it never explicitly said these things. I didn’t get a good chance to read it, she let me look at it shortly. But it was like just the kids saying things they like to do with their parents like playing baseball and it would say, I like playing baseball with my dads. At first when I asked my mom why she bought it she said the illustrations were cute. The next day she said the book was evil and went against the Bible. About a week after this I find the pages ripped out from the book and set in a stack on the table. My mom claimed that the book had gotten wet and the pages ‘fell apart’. Yeah sure they fell apart in perfect pages torn from the book. So now she has the pages stacked and she took them and put them somewhere but did not throw them away. It’s super weird. I’m wondering if maybe she’s going to burn them? I love my mom and I knew she was homophobic but this is strange even for her. Sometimes she has these weird weeks once every couple of months where god “tells her” to do things. I’m wondering if this is one of those times. One time I got a comic book that featured a sapphic couple and she found it and read it and said god “told her” to get rid of it as it was very evil. And this was maybe two years ago. But she’s back at it again. Then she had the audacity to ask me why I was acting weird but I felt super awkward and upset. Sometimes I forget the fact that if they really knew me they would hate me. I just need to vent so I’m not really sure what I’m expecting here but I’m just so frustrated and unable to move out at the moment.
