Need Advice Queer Baiting

Hey I'm writing an article on query baiting and I need some examples of it.

I'm not the most up to date on pop culture so if you could also explain the show a little and how it queer baited a couple that would be super helpful.

I want to talk about SpideyPool within it too, so if you have any specific issues or know anything about how SpideyPool has contributed to queer baiting, that would be much appreciated. Thank You!!

A ship inherently has nothing to do with queer baiting. I know you're probably using that as an example of something teased in a comic without being real but it doesn't work with this example since Deadpool is canonically queer.

I suggest being more precise in what you specifically want to talk about and how you are defining queer baiting. Usually the term is referring to teasing the idea of something queer in media and then pulling it back when it's convenient to avoid backlash. It inherently can't be queer baiting if the characters that are "bait" are canonically and explicitly queer. It requires a bait and switch. The lie is at the core of it.

Implying a relationship between two characters and it not working out or having one character flirt with another character and it not go anywhere isn't a bait and switch. It's a relationship not being canon. Something can also be bad or offensive to queer people without being queer baiting.

this recent vanity fair essay lists examples of things some people online have decided are "queerbaiting" but are infact just people existing in the way humans do

The Teen Wolf team released an ad with two of their male actors aggressively cuddling on a boat to ask people to vote for their pairing in some kind of award. They played characters who were extremely close and had a very queer coded dynamic, the series was made by a team with a lot of queer people, and there were a lot of queer characters for a show made at that time.

Even with all of that, these two characters never ended up having any kind of relationship, or came out. One was directly asked if he was bi and then the scene changed before he answered. That’s my main example of queerbaiting
