Her brain has 47 tabs open at once and none are loading

What to do to the people who experience these things!
My Best friend
…It’s like her brain is running at 2x speed. She tries to understand everything at once, but sometimes even she can’t keep up with her own thoughts.
I genuinely want to understand how to help her. What can someone do when their mind feels constantly overwhelmed? What kind of support actually helps, and what should the people around them avoid doing?
I’d really appreciate advice from people who have experienced something similar or learned how to manage these feelings. I don’t want to judge her; I want to understand her better.

your to-do list becomes a source of panic instead of motivation.

have adhd and I've been in depression for the last 9 months. I somehow overcame it with my own will and meds. The docs and parents helped , and I'm really grateful . I read books specifically about adhd , and honestly, they were the one thing I'd say did 60% of the work. I started making routine. I'm preparing for NEET, so I started with 40-mins timers and did 4 sessions a day. Gradually, I started covering up for the time I'd lost, recovered everything, and gained pace.

But now, when I study, there's something weird . I make to-do lists, but I make them so lengthy . I try my best to complete em, but yk the problem? When I'm watching lectures, I keep looking at the time, thinking, 1 hour left? That's too much. I watch lectures at 1.75x or 2x speed because I can never understand them at 1x, and I can even write notes at 2x speed.

I keep looking at the time, and I feel like crying from inside, thinking about how 2 hours are left and how much backlog I still have. I cry and somehow get through it. Sometimes, I feel sleepy, so I take a nap, but it's barely 20 minutes, sometimes even less. I wake up all of a sudden with a sharp pain in my heart, thinking about how I haven't completed my to-do list and stuff. I start criticising myself so much that I begin sweating, and sometimes, though very rarely, I feel like vomiting as well. My heartbeat gets faster, and yet I try my best to study. But sometimes, the pain gets so bad that I just leave studying and start distracting myself.

Like leaving study nd Then there's no anxiety no pressure what helps?? Give me tips guys I'm really pissed

You Should Know My mo tried to cure ADHD symptoms by switching me from right to left handed

I was forced to use my left hand when I was right handed has any other homeschooler experienced this or understand why.

I am 21f and was forced to use my left hand even though I naturally gravitated to my right hand like most of the population for most of my life. This started at about ten years old when my mother attended a teach them diligently homeschooling convention and listened to a speaker there. According to her this individual claimed that mixed dominance cause disorganization of the brain and can lead to traits associated with autism ADHD learning disorders and mood disorders in children. They believed that missing a milestone like skipping stages of crawling was what caused this. I was sent to a lady in Texas I was still young and don’t remember her name but she evaluated me and said I was left eye and ear dominant but only used my right hand which supposedly caused my symptoms (ADHD my mother did not believe in and emotional issues from trauma). So she gave my mother instructions on how to develop my brain. I was forced to relearn everything with my left hand start crawling on the floor, memorize sequences of numbers and do my homework with an eye patch and ear plug on my right side. This cause a lot of emotional breakdowns which she would blame on the fact that I was using my right hand for certain tasks which was causing me not to think logically because of my mixed dominance. I had to relearn how to brush my teeth and hair use my phone and laptop and writing. If anything it made my mental heath worse. I did physical therapy exercises on my hand to try to make my left hand stronger. If I used my right hand to much in her mind I undid a week of neurodevelopment work. It was complete bs and traumatic for me. I continued to believe it into my teens and felt guilty for using my right hand in certain instances. I still compulsively switch from right to left while eating or drawing. She essentially made me ambidextrous which according to this cult like ideology doesn’t really exist. Has anyone else experienced this or am it the only one.

Anyone assessed for ADHD by a pediatric neurologist?

I’m 17 and my ADHD assessment is with a pediatric neurologist in a few weeks (refered by my GP) . I’ve read about the general stuff but I can’t find much about what it’s like with a neurologist specifically, since most people seem to go through a psychiatrist or psychologist.
If you were assessed by a pediatric neurologist, especially as a teen:

How long was the first visit? If your parents were there, how long were they in the room for and how long were you alone for?

Did you get a diagnosis at the first visit, or did they send forms home and have you come back?

Did they prescribe at the first visit or later?

Did they ask about mood or anxiety? If you mentioned depression or anxiety, did the neurologist deal with it, refer you somewhere, or hold off on ADHD meds?

Mostly looking for what actually happened to you, not general advice. Thanks.

Rant I cant build any habits or commit to anything

I can’t count how many times I’ve tried to start working out. I do tons of research on building a routine. I think I have it all figured out. Then the next day I come across something someone said that contradicts what I found and feel like what I’m doing is wrong. And even if I somehow get to the gym, every single session feels like the first time. Everyone always tells me that it takes like a month of consistency to build a habit and then it becomes easy but its just not true. Every time i have to force myself to do the thing (in this case, going to the gym) and if I slip up for even one day there’s a good chance I’m never going to go again. Earlier this year I was the most consistent I have ever been with a workout routine which was for like 2 and a half months. Then one day, I just didn’t have the willpower to go. Every single session feels like the first one. Does that make sense? It never gets better. I was on adderall back then and it only did anything the first time then never again. Im on vyvanse now and its the same shit. Im so god damn tired. I just want to go back to college and function like everyone else. I just cant understand why my brain won’t cooperate with me. There are so many things I want to do that I just cant. I dont feel anything rewarding from anything its miserable. I dont know if this is okay to post here, i just needed to vent somewhere with people who understand what im going through. I dont have any friends apart from my girlfriend but shes asleep right now

General question Job Interview Fail

Guys… I’m on a throwaway because honestly I feel like the worst person alive…. I’ve been job hunting for just over 3 months. I had an actual interview today. It’s also my birthday. I was prepared. I could have aced it. But ADHD said no…. I was late. Too late to teach the trial lesson. And I am so ashamed I literally cannot tell anyone other than Reddit. Am I a terrible human? 🫠😬

No Neurotypical advice please ADHD BURNOUT: Who else has experienced this and what are some ways you recovered from it?

A little over a year ago I thought I became depressed, my motivation drive and willingness to work suddenly dropped to 0. This was not good for all aspects of my life, my relationships, my career, and even keeping my personal life in check. That being said I don’t have that job anymore, stopped making the same money, gf left me, and now I’m back in with my parents. Everything fell apart. It wasn’t until recently where I’ve been able to identify it as ADHD Burnout: where you brain is exhausted beyond needing normal rest from years of overworking/ overstressing your brain; usually I’ve seen is from masking for so many years, but I think it’s more than just that.

The problem is, I’m on meds now and everything, Fluoxetine and Adderall XR. But I still absolutely feel like that burnout is still present, the medication only helps me to push through that burnout and function at a decently normal level. It feels like a bandaid over the actual problem.

Without the medication, I am completely useless. It’s nearly impossible for me to be able to get out of bed and go to work, or even get up to use the bathroom. This has caused me to use a NUMBER of sick days at the new job which obviously is not a good thing to keep doing.

I’m looking for solutions, this has been going on long enough. I’m 27 now and I’ve had ADHD my whole life but never experienced something this severe.

Gym Workouts & Digital Distraction (Gym-goers who struggle with focus/ADHD)

Hey everyone,

I'm a final-year Product Design student.
For my final major project, I am researching how modern smartphone tracking impacts focus and distraction on the gym floor. I am focusing specifically on individuals who experience executive dysfunction, ADHD, or general difficulties staying in the zone while weight training.
Touchscreens can be a total nightmare for digital distraction. I want to design a physical, tactile tracking device to help people stay off their screens mid-workout.
If you log your workouts on your phone, I would be incredibly grateful if you could fill out this quick, anonymous 3-minute survey. Your insights will directly shape my design criteria for my upcoming presentations this month.

Survey Link: https://forms.gle/L95zkpXkUtAaRGLD7

Thank you so much for your time and help! I'm happy to chat in the comments about how you all manage your phone usage while lifting.
