I’m currently using an iPhone 13 Pro and thinking about upgrading to the iPhone 18 Pro or 18 Pro Max.
My main reason for upgrading is battery life. I want a phone that I can comfortably use throughout the day without constantly worrying about charging, and I’m planning to keep my next phone for at least 3–4 years. So, long-term battery health and how well the battery holds up over the years are important factors for me.
The thing is, I genuinely prefer smaller phones. Even though I have fairly big hands, I like the more compact size of the regular Pro. I know the Pro Max is generally the safer choice if battery life is the priority, but I’m not sure whether the difference is worth carrying a noticeably bigger and heavier phone every day for the next few years.
For those who have used both Pro and Pro Max models, or anyone who has upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro:
- Is the battery life difference between the Pro and Pro Max significant in real-world use?
- Does the Pro Max still have a noticeable battery advantage after 2–3 years of use?
- If battery life is my biggest concern, would choosing the regular Pro be a compromise I might regret?
- For those who switched to the Pro Max, did you get used to the size and weight, or do you still miss having a smaller phone?
I’m leaning towards the regular Pro because of the size, but I don’t want to regret sacrificing battery life, especially since I’ll be keeping the phone for 3–4 years.
Would you recommend the Pro or Pro Max in my situation, and why?
