Prototype CIVIMAX - Play mini-games while waiting for upgrades

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

I've always loved incremental games, so after many tries making one, I think this time I'm finally getting somewhere.

CIVIMAX is a game where you gather resources, automate production, allocate villagers, and play mini-games to boost production instead of just spam clicking on a resource.

Its more of an active incremental and not much of an idler.

I've tried to also include a little bit of strategy and more meaninful choices, something I think many games in this genre lack.

It has 3 acts, all playable now, and runs in the browser.

Play here: https://bolodev.itch.io/civimax

Any feedback is extremely welcome.

Sorry about the broken english.

HTML Skyreap – from chopping trees by hand to running an economy across floating islands (free demo)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

hi! I made a game that I think fits here, though it's more "active automation" than pure idle, so mods, feel free to tell me if I'm off.

Skyreap: https://entin-games.itch.io/skyreap

the progression loop is the part I care about most:

you start out clicking trees one by one → build a port and a flying ship → take over new islands with new resources → build some basic automation → set up production chains between them.

the long-term idea is that by the end almost everything runs by itself and your little hut has turned into a palace.

the skill tree is still being built, and my main rule for it is no boring "+5% wood" upgrades. I want every upgrade to change how you play a bit. if you have favorite examples of incremental upgrades done right, I'd honestly love to hear them

the demo is free and plays in the browser or on Windows. as for length... I genuinely don't know. I've played it so many times I speedrun it without thinking, but a normal human might spend around 2 hours. if you get to the end, tell me your time, it would help me a lot

any feedback on pacing is super welcome, this sub knows pacing better than anyone 😅

AI disclosure: AI tools were used to help write parts of the code. Our artist sometimes uses AI for early concept sketches only, and all the final in-game art is hand-drawn. Sound and music were made without any AI.

Prototype Idle Iron Man: an idle game where you train from couch potato to full Ironman [Browser, prototype]

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, I'm the developer of a game currently called Idle Iron Man (I'll probably have to change the name, so alternative title suggestions are welcome!). It's currently a small, free prototype, and I'd love your honest feedback.

I run a triathlon site, and as I was developing some tools, first a Triathlon Time Calculator and then a Race Position Simulator, it struck me that triathlon could be a really good topic for an incremental/idle game. It has three disciplines, lots of training, nutrition in and out, energy, rest & recovery, and a slow incremental build towards increasingly ambitious goals. So I started developing this prototype.

The idle mechanics

  • You start as a couch potato (not my favourite term, so alternative suggestions are welcome!) and train swim, bike, run and strength. Each has its own level and distance ("furthest you can go").
  • Energy, fatigue and fuel limit how hard you can push, so rest and food matter.
  • Hire a training plan and your athlete trains on their own, including while you're away. Offline progress is calculated from your last visit, capped at 8 hours (some upgrades raise the cap).
  • Spend coins on coaches, kit and facilities to speed things up.
  • Enter events for medals and bigger rewards: mini triathlon, sprint, Olympic, 70.3, full Ironman, then ultras and a ridiculous finale called The Iron Absurdity.
  • After your first Ironman you can retire and start a new career with permanent Legacy Points (light prestige).

Platform / links

Browser only for now (works on desktop and phone browsers). Free, no ads, no account, no purchases. Progress saves in your browser. Possible mobile version to follow?

Play: https://www.triathlontracker.org/tools/idle-ironman

Gameplay video attached (real gameplay, not mockups).

A bit about me

I have a tech and writing background, including several years in app development and QA. This is an independent project I've been developing myself with no affiliation to any developer or publisher.

AI disclosure

A large part of the coding was done with AI help (Claude), including the game code and the artwork which is drawn in code. I direct the concept, gameplay, design and UI, and test and tune the game. The promo video's voiceover, if you see it elsewhere, is also AI-generated. This post was written by me!

What I'd love to hear

  1. What do you like, and what's boring or confusing?
  2. What's missing that you'd expect from an idle game?
  3. If you could change one thing, what would it be?
  4. How does the pacing feel? The balance so far comes from my own simulations, not many players.

A bigger question: real-time events?

Right now a race plays out as a quick animation. I'm wondering about making events run in real time, like the real thing: a sprint triathlon around 2 hours, a full Ironman around 8 hours, while you do other things (it's an idle game, after all). Would that be a fun long-haul commitment, or just too long? Would you want it optional, or sped up by upgrades?

Please give it a try! It's a prototype, so please be blunt. Thanks for reading!

Development First demo for my incremental mining game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Game name: Clickerite

Hey everyone! I just released the playtest demo of my incremental mining clicker, where you craft tools and enchant them to increase your click power. The demo has 2 biomes with 4 levels on each.

Would love to get your feedback on the demo! I've already run closed playtests with my friends but I mostly need people to test the balancing, so try to break the game however you can think of haha

I've been a game developer for 3 years on a small studio but it recently closed its doors. This is my first solo project, but Im happy how it turned out!

If you like what you see you can play the demo directly on the browser or download it here: https://bugguri.itch.io/clickerite

You can also wishlist it on Steam

AI disclosure: No art was created with generative AI. I only used AI for translation and helping with some code.

Development Arsenal Zero: a free browser loot game built on timers. Expeditions run offline, every drop rolls its own power

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, we're the small team behind Arsenal Zero. It's playable now, free, in the browser (desktop or phone).

The loop

  • Your operator goes on expeditions, from a few minutes to several hours. They keep running while you're offline.
  • Your gear's power vs. the zone's required power sets how good the loot is when they come back.
  • Every copy of an item rolls its own power. Duplicates level your items up to 5, and a better roll replaces your best.
  • Between expeditions, you sweep abandoned zones with a radar to find hidden crates, and craft in the Workshop.
  • Every evening (8 to 11 pm, your local time), the Iron Tower opens: 10 floors, one climb.
  • 100+ items to collect from Common to Mythic, grouped in collections.

It's free to play. There are optional purchases (crystals), never required to progress, and no trading of any kind.

Play: arsenalzero.com

What we'd love feedback on
We're tuning the economy with our first players right now. Which timers feel too long, which rewards feel too generous or too stingy, and where did you stop playing?

HTML I'm not a programmer. I built a cosygardening game with Claude. Would love feedback.

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I used to be a massage therapist and I've never coded, but I always wanted a game that could help me through the winter: slow, cosy, check in whenever you wish, laid back... So I built Gnome Venture (www.gnomeventure.ca) with Claude (opus 5.5, haiku 5.6, sonnet).

You are a garden gnome, you grow crops and care for the soil (fertility, soil life, no-till beds that earn grades), cook and craft. You can walk the roads between 14 regions through the mycellium network of earth. Wander off into the wilds, make friends with the townsfolk, and play little daily games like Mushroom Sweeper, matching.

Help Wren complete her Almanac project, and unlock all the world areas. Submit your garden for Garden of the Month, or individual crops you grow to be judged monthly. Fight bosses deep in the wilds... and more!

AI Disclosure:

I play on my phone, so I'd send Claude screenshots of what looked wrong or what I wanted, usually with "thoughts?"

Claude would come back with a proposal and a critique (what's good, what could break, the numbers), and only build after I said go.

Claude Opus led, for bigger jobs it split the work between cheaper Haiku helpers and then reviewed and fixed their code. Once it ran a 10-agent review of the whole game, which found real bugs.

Every update was tested like a player would: a fresh install, a bot that clicks every button (around 1,500 pages), and phone screenshots. Then it handed me a small zip I upload from my own admin panel.

I'm on a tight budget, so it kept the use of helpers low and did small fixes itself.

Size today: 365 plants, about 1,100 items, 107 recipes, 54 townsfolk with daily routines, an 884-page in-game Almanac, and about 26,000 lines of PHP.

Mostly, I wanted a way to garden over the coming winter. Its so cold!

It's free, with no ads or payments. I'd love feedback from anyone. 🌱

Development Refining VFX and 3D modeling in Blender for a Sniper class in the holy dungeon Hesperides (Browser-based classic MMORPG)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm working on game development. Initially planning to create a 2D AFK game. I decided to pivot to 2.5D MMORPG games after received harsh response from this subreddit.

I’m sharing some raw gameplay footage of our Sniper class holding it down in The Hesperides (a holy element dungeon).

What we're currently working on behind the scenes:

  • VFX Polish: Refining the spell impacts, projectile trails, and holy lighting inside the dungeon for crisp, satisfying combat feedback.
  • 3D Monster Modeling: Modeling and rigging new dungeon creatures and MVPs using Blender before bringing them straight into the browser engine.

We are slowly rolling out early access invites! You can secure your spot or try out our instant Lv 200 sandbox dungeon right now directly in your browser:

WebGL Loot Hole: dig, sell, upgrade, and work your way below the front yard (free browser game)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm the developer of Loot Hole, a first-person digging game with an active incremental loop. You dig up buried objects, sell what fits in your backpack, and spend the money on equipment that gets you through harder ground and further below the yard.

It's free to play in the browser: https://playgama.ai/play/kw6t5foxgs

The progression is about improving what each trip can accomplish: a better shovel, a larger backpack, and deeper layers with new finds. You do the digging yourself.

I'd like feedback on the first upgrade cycle. Did selling your first backpack make the next purchase feel worth working toward? If you stopped playing, where did the loop lose you?

AI disclosure: AI was used for coding, image generation, and translations. Music and sound effects were mostly made without AI.

Development Hi there, I just dropped demo of my first game - a small incremental named Grave Filler

Hi! I've just released a free browser demo of my small incremental, Grave Filler.

You run the night shift at a village cemetery where the dead keep arriving by the cartload. The core loop:

- pitch bodies from the pen into one grave

- bodies decay over time, freeing space and releasing souls

- catch souls and spend them on occult upgrades; burials pay money for the Undertaker's Book

- when the grave is full, a dig crew empties it and digs it deeper and wider

- automate with gravediggers, a hearse, an ossuary and a crematorium; soldiers, nobles and knights pay extra

- prestige: consecrate the cemetery for relics and permanent Chapel upgrades

It's active at the start and mostly idle-with-decisions later. The demo takes about 1.5 hours to The Pit; there's a short story and dark humour along the way. English and Polish.

You can test it out on itch.io -> https://xkomarx.itch.io/grave-filler

I'm especially looking for feedback on pacing (any dead stretches or walls?) and clarity (was it obvious what to buy next?). Brutal honesty welcome.

AI disclosure:

Yeah i used AI assistance creating it ( code, art, sound/music, transaltions ), i'm just designer so it was fastest way to try out my designs.

Prototype STRIKE! Bowling for Severance — [Web] short active incremental, ~25 minutes to the end

Post image
0 Upvotes

You quit your job and wreck the office floor by floor with a bowling ball tied to a network cable. Short runs, an upgrade "org chart", ten floors with an ending, and coworkers who comment on everything you break.

It's a prototype and I'm trying to decide if it's worth turning into a full game. What I'd love to know:

  • Did you finish it? If not, where did you stop?
  • Which floor felt too slow or too easy?
  • Did the upgrades feel meaningful?

AI disclosure: AI-assisted code, placeholder art and text. Game design and direction are mine; music and sound effects are human-made (CC0).

Hi guys, just wanted to let anyone interested know that our Incremental x City builder mix is launching on November 16!

To go with that, we’ve just pushed a new demo version on Steam (hopefully the last one this time lold) If that kind of mix sounds like your thing, please consider giving it a try and please let us know what you think

And a huge thank you to everyone from this sub who played the earlier versions and shared their feedback with us!

AI Disclosure: No generative AI was used in the development of Clicky Islands or in any of its code, art, audio, texts, or other game assets etc.
We still believe making indie games should be fun, challenging, and a chance to learn and tbh handing that work over to AI kinda takes away a big part of what makes it unique and worthwhile 🤔

Update I've updated RattyJunkIdle. What would you add to make it more fun?

Hey everyone,

I shared RattyJunkIdle here before, and I've made quite a few changes since then. Some people ran into language and guest login problems last time, so those were among the things I worked on. Thanks for pointing them out.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's a browser idle RPG set in a post-apocalyptic world. You gather materials, craft equipment, put together skill builds, and run automated dungeons, with action queues and offline progress.

A few things that have changed:

  • Fixes for guest login and language selection, plus improvements to English text and smaller screens.
  • Clearer feedback when changing equipment, better inventory organization, and fewer separate reward pop-ups when you return.
  • A new dungeon, Off-Orbit Ranch, and Deception, an activity where you use cowbells to try for skill packs for your chosen build.
  • Changes to skill progression: basic packs help you get started, while more specialized skill books remain dungeon rewards.

I'd like some advice on what to build next. What would you add to give players more interesting choices as they progress? More build variety, different dungeon challenges, exploration, or something else?

If you try it, I'd also like to know where you first get bored or feel unsure what to work toward. That would help me decide which parts need more attention.

Examples from other idle games are welcome too. A feature you enjoyed, and why it worked for you, would be useful.

You can try it in your browser with a guest account, no signup needed:

Play RattyJunkIdle

AI disclosure

I use generative AI to help with code and testing, many current art assets, and some writing and translation. I review and edit the output and make the design decisions.

Update We're making a digging incremental that starts with coal and ends in cosmic horror

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey! We're working on Drill Deep, a pixel-art digging incremental that slowly turns into cosmic horror.

You start out mining coal under a quiet green field. Eventually, you're tearing through the mine with chain lightning, lasers and swarms of little robots. And somewhere along the way, the mine starts looking back at you. Cosmic horror, no jump scares.

We just released a big update, including a new perk system. You pick perks as you level up and build combos around your pickaxe, autodrill and automatons. We want choosing your next perk to feel like a chance to take your build somewhere interesting.

The update also adds flying and spider automatons, reworked lava and mushroom biomes, new monsters and corruption that makes each run a little more wrong.

Our Steam playtest is open, and we'd love to have more playtesters! We're especially interested in how the new perks feel: whether the choices are interesting, which combos you discover, and where progression starts feeling slow or frustrating.

You can join the playtest here:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4268970/Drill_Deep/

Thanks to anyone who gives it a try — we'd love to hear how your run went!

Released Solo Dev Here~ Made a cultivation game thats scale towards f2p friendly.

Hi all, to start, got sick of p2w whales that just buy to the top of the game, so I created a game myself with minimal p2w aspects.

I'll be honest and yes there still in app purchases, but those are mainly to help to sustain the

It's basically a xianxia cultivation incremental game with references to donghua characters. You are rewarded based on how well you understand your own team's comp and understanding the skills and abilities that your partner has.

Build a team of 6 and dive through all the stages and progress even when offline. 240 characters to collect, with guilds and arena.

Fishing, forging and server-wide event daily as well.

I'm planning to do an event for the upcoming halloween with no p2w aspects, just stay active and play to get the rewards :D.

It's out on Googleplay now while the iOS version is pending apple's review.

Feel free to give any feedback on the gameplay and stuff.

Development Released my first idle game FlossenFarm and would appreciate feedback

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a small cozy incremental game called FlossenFarm, and I just published the first playable version on itch.io.

You can play it here: https://catniptavern.itch.io/flossenfarm

The core loop is pretty straightforward: you manage a fish farm, tap an egg until it’s open, drop food, raise your fish and earn.

Whats currently in the game:

Different fish species to unlock and hatch

Pond upgrades and automation mechanics

Playable directly in browser

Since its completely free, I'd really appreciate any feedback on the pacing, progression balance, or ideas for features you'd like to see added next.

Thanks for checking it out and let me know what you think!

Discussion Turn-based or Real-time with pause?

Hey everyone,
I have been working on something that is basically a farming tycoon game where you start as a small harvester and grow into a tycoon by unlocking different ways to process and sell the product. I have played and really enjoyed Game Dev Tycoon, Anno 1404, Hundred Days, etc. where incremental mechanism is the essence of the experience.

One thing that is difficult to choose while designing the game is to deciding on the time progress. So please tell me your opinion as a player, which one do you prefer? Why?

Android Bloxster 1.0 is out on Android — ore mining, robots and incremental upgrades

Hi everyone, I'm the developer of Bloxster. Version 1.0 is now publicly available on Google Play.

You start by mining three-dimensional ore blocks, turn materials into Cubes and upgrades, and build a robotic mining crew. World 1 contains 44 floors across five regions. Golems gate later progress; Prestige, AI Cores, the Collection, Bloxworx town and the Observatory add systems as you advance.

Play on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mentalcore.bloxster

Website and actual gameplay screenshots: https://bloxster.click/

The game is in English and free to download, with optional one-time Value Packs, permanent Perks and a Founder's Bundle. Some purchases include randomized items. There are no player accounts or developer-operated cloud saves: progress is local, so keep a backup before clearing app data or uninstalling.

I'd be interested to hear which part of the early progression feels satisfying and where the next useful upgrade is unclear.

AI disclosure

Generative AI has been used extensively in code development and debugging, artwork creation, and assistance with UI/store/website text and translation. This post was also prepared with AI assistance. Game screenshots are rendered by the game; the website's wide promotional illustration is AI-generated. Some screenshots show later unlocks using an isolated preview save.

HTML Soul Forge - push-your-luck forging with an upgrade shop (free, browser)

Play free in your browser (desktop or mobile): https://jason-fay.itch.io/soul-forge

Dip a sword into a soul flame: the longer it stays in, the more shards it earns, until it shatters and you lose the round's pot. Pull at the last moment for a PERFECT temper (x1.5) and chain good pulls into a Hot Streak.

Bank shards across 3 rounds to hit each forge's quota (40 / 250 / 2000), and spend them in the Soul Market on stacking upgrades: Soul Funnel, Crack Sense, Razor's Edge, Hot Streak, Quench Seal and the Devil's Bargain wager. 3 levels, about 15-25 minutes, with mouse, keyboard, gamepad or touch.

Feedback on the upgrade balance and quota pacing is very welcome.

AI disclosure

The art (sprites and story scenes), the game code and the story text were made with generative AI tools under my direction. The music is my own, not AI.

Help request Core/loop formula

Hey, my problem is, I can't figure out a core formula for my production in my game. My game is pretty much an antimatter dimension/revolution idle like incremental game.

How am I "inventing" a new core formula that's still simple. I really like the formula of the generation chain (like antimatter) and the genius simplicity of revolution idles formula with the multiplicators that is growing. I want something my own, unique formula, but it's so hard. I want to keep the idea of having several "generators", instead of just one thing you can upgrade. However, each generator follows roughly the same logic.

My question is, how did you invent your own formula?

Thanks for every answer
