It was his own fucking son. I still can't believe it. People at school are just acting like it's some story to go around telling. He was an incredible teacher who lost his life way too goddamn soon and people are using the story of his death as an entertaining lunch time conversation. What the hell is wrong with people.

I transferred high schools because my original one is a great school but i hated the environment there. So now Iām in a high school thats not the worst, but it seems like im going to become stupid or something. I was already told how its different than a regular high school, but I had no idea these classes would teach me absolutely nothing. Every single class, its all no tests, just listen to teacher, and any work we get are things I would get in Middle School. I donāt feel challenged or hope Iāll learn anything, theres no way to ask for advanced either because most are made for your grade level and are in the same case, I wonāt learn anything. Iā worried fir the future, Iāll lack things.
I feel so lost, I donāt even know if I can transfer again or back to my old one. Or just what to do.
My last option is online but even that I know Iāll eventually get tired of.
This high school I wanted to go to doesnt accept transfers so I just chose that high school to transfer to.

Okay, so I moved not too long ago from New York to Washington, and obviously that means I have to start at a new school my junior year, but I've been like super depressed, like I've been depressed for like four years now, but itās never been as bad. Like, I can't even get out of bed. I skip school and just lie in bed feeling sorry for myself, and then I cry and fall asleep for like the whole day. I've been doing this for two weeks now, and I'm completely behind on everything, which is really bad because I was already behind from the move; I fell so lost. Today I got myself up and went to school (writing from the bathroom while skipping), and I don't want to go to any classes because I'm scared of what the teachers will say and the questions they will ask, like, I'm not trying to tell a teacher I've seen you a total of five times that I'm depressed, sorry. And I have really bad social anxiety and avoidant tendencies, so I really, really donāt want to talk to them or see them because I feel so bad for skipping their classes for so long. I want to go to school and graduate, but at this point I might just drop out, or theyāll kick me out whichever comes first. made this post. If anyone has been through this, what should I do? I feel so hopeless because my parents think I've been going, but I'm not, and theyāll kill me if they find out, and I'm low-key running out on lies about why I'm being marked absent. Someone help. I donāt know if this made any sense. I'm sorry.

Hey, weāre a few high schoolers building an ML model that tries to predict procrastination from stuff like workload, sleep, and screen time. High school students seemed like the right crowd to ask, for obvious reasons lol.
surveyās here:Ā https://forms.gle/ucSyhpLXeRFiJePZ9
It takes about 3 minutes, fully anonymous (no names or emails), and itās open to anyone currently in high school. For the screen time question, your phoneās settings will have the actual number if you want to be accurate (decimal is PREFERRED tho).
Weāll post what the model finds once itās done. Appreciate it, and good luck with school!

So basically, Iām a 12th grade student. I have my half yearly coming up where evry subject is full portion for the exam. I have 15 days left for the exam, which starts on oct 30. My teacher told me I have to attend an inter school speech competition, which is also on oct 30. I am a good speaker and I understand why they chose me but I simply donāt want to do it. I used to be a person who used to cry for not wanting to do a speech, Iām glad Iāve become more confident and have won stuff in public speaking but I still get nervous, restless and feel pressured before any speech. Which I feel is completely normal, but I donāt like the fact that I have to go through this pressure before my exam. Mind you the competition is on oct 30 as well. I am a person who really cares about my grades and I know I havenāt been doing well these days and really want to start focusing on my exams. I went and told my English teacher that I donāt think I can do it and she told me, āI donāt care if you have full portions, lose sleep or whatever, you have to prepareā. I felt pathetic, they did not value my opinion at all. Today I went to the principal with my friend, I told her I didnāt want to do it because the pressure was too much. She started saying stuff like marks donāt matter, you always do this, reject speeches for exams blah blah, and started saying how no one cares about your mark and no oneās going to see my marks at work⦠I felt completely invalidated, that was not my point... I didnāt like how mentally drained I was. Whenever my friend tried to defend me, they shushed her up. They didnāt even try to understand what I felt.. Iām proud of myself for where I am. Iām an extrovert but that doesnāt mean I donāt get nervous before speeches. I didnāt like how she was completely invalidating marks (knowing thatās really the opposite of what she says normally). I care about my marks, because the world is competitive and Iām aware, marks themselves donāt mean anything to me but they do in the process of stuff I want to achieve. Considering the fact that if I want to go abroad for studies obviously they matter. Iām not sure how to feel. Now I feel like maybe I did too much just because I didnāt like what my mental state was going through. Though I know I would do the same even if I could go back in time.

High school grade 11 regent physics student. A month in school and the teacher has zero care at all for education, uses ai to create assignments, homework's, and exams. Barely knows shit himself. Just hands us a Chromebook and tells us to complete the ai generated assignments he creates with zero effort while he sits down and scrolls Instagram all period. Literally he's obsessed with AI, ranting about how "why the hell do something yourself when you can just use ai to do it" and complains how the school blocked AI on Chromebooks its actually ridiculous. I hate this class so much. How am I going to pass the regents what can I do? How can I teach myself physics? I'm really in a bad spot. I hate school.

I have an EXTREMELY sensitive sense of smell, i get nauseous easily. ever since my sophomore year there has been a girl in my class who smells awful. Its hard to describe but it smells strongly of body odor(onions or vinegar), like sweat and something else very potent and sharp. im not the only one, i have asked my friends and even teachers and they agree she smells strongly. i struggle with empathy so i really find it hard to feel bad for her, i also struggle at holding back my words. i have never actually spoken to her about it, i dont really speak to her at all in general - the last time i did, she said something very very out of pocket and it caught me off guard. i am very aware of her poor social skills, i am also aware of other personal things shes dealing with that might contribute to this odor. but the odor is really making it hard for me to focus on my work, i think ive wasted about half a bottle of my full sized D&G perfume. it doesnt even work, and its incredibly frustrating. i actually find myself angry around her, i mean - the smell is really bad, she can be 40 feet away and the smell will trail behind her. its disgusting, and honestly im struggling to keep my composure. I have spoken with teachers and counselors about this, they say theyll do something - and sometimes they do.. but the next day its exactly the same. its very clear to me that the teachers baby the students in the Sped hallway, i only have two classes down there, i struggle with ADHD and thats about it.
what im looking for by posting this is, advice on what to do - like what should i say to my councelor about how this affects my work and my temper?
and how can i block the odor possibly? i share a bus with her and everyone on it agree's that it literally fills the bus, the bus driver even opens the windows in the winter because of this.
im really, really trying very hard to keep my composure and stay calm around the odor, but it makes me nauseous when she sits near me in class and it makes me angry. i have absolutely no empathy for her, i really dont want to waste my time doing that. i hate to admit it but its just the truth.

Hello, Iām a current 10th grader taking āadvanced classesā at my High-school. Iāve integrated myself into taking these Honors-AP classes since second semester of 9th grade. Right now Iām barely scraping by with my current grades, I have a problem of only allowing myself to be told what to do, meaning I only study when a teacher hands out a pre-made study guide or when told to study a specific page or worksheet, etc. Which was the case in 9th grade but now in 10th I no longer have to luxury to have that. So, Iām wondering, what would be the most efficient way to study these courses when Iām done with my homework, or even completing homework more efficiently.
I do have trouble paying attention in 2/3 of my hardest classes, which is Honors Chem. & Honors Alg. 2, which in class I completely do not follow through of what is being taught and I often get extremely bored but come to find out when I self-study at home or doing homework I easily find the concepts easy. So, Iām also wondering on how I can fix that, maybe my sleep schedule is part to blame.
Iām solid at understanding concepts being taught in class and be able to develop it, but, my memory for that information is often short-term, so Iām asking what would be an efficient way to ātrainā memory, if possible rather than having to put everything down in flash-cards.
I rarely self-study besides doing my assigned homework and even I rarely do that, and if I do itās often half-assed or rushed to the last minute. Iāve honestly picked up some pretty bad habits and Iām worried that itāll be too late or Iāll take in some pretty harsh consequences before truly changing and adapting to the new workload.
I did take geometry over the summer to take Honors. Alg 2 this year in which it may affect some pretty core concepts for that course. Overall, itās my Quiz Average thatās bringing my grade down because I find these concepts harder to grasp thus iāll need to self-study/do the homework deeply.
For Spanish, I do have a missing quiz in the grade book so after making it up I should have a guaranteed A.
For Financial Literacy, I often have motivation to do the coursework and most times turn it in a day late, but if I change my habits it should be relatively easy to bring it back up to an 95 average or above.
Overall, I definitely need to change my habits, which includes studying more, getting a better sleep schedule and motivation for all of the coursework Iām doing. Thatās just my perspective of seeing things,
All Iām asking for is advice on how to study more efficiently and on what will work best to to improve my memory as well, down to the littlest details that can compound and eventually get me back on my feet again.
Thank you,
M. Thomas, Highschooler

I'm in musical theater, and so was my sister. Everyone in that class knew her, and loved her, and since I'm her little brother, everyone talks to me and loves me.
I'm not saying I dislike it, it's just that everyone wants to talk to me. It kinda feels like how everyone is overly nice to someone because they have a disability. I think they're trying to welcome me to the school but I don't know.

It's awful. I find Americans very strange and I'm black in a mostly white town even though there's lots of black kids that I see in the hall I'm the only one in five out of six of my classes, for the most part no one speaks to me and some kids are very mean to me and don't treat me very well.
It feels like I'm on an alien planet where everyone acts very weird. People in America are very miserable it seems and I don't know what to do to make more friends.
I'm feeling super depressed and don't feel like myself,no one sits with me during lunch and everyone already has friend groups as I'm in junior year.
What do I do?

So i have been thinking about scheduling for next year and here is my thoughts and i want to know if this is too ambitious
(Not in order)
Ap physics 1 and 2(one class)
Trig/precalc
Ap world history
Honor engineering robotics 1 half of the year
Honor engineering physics the other half
Honors english
Intro to programming python one half of year
Personal finance the other half
Honors chemistry
This is what i want to do but it kinda feels like it would be hard, im pretty passionate about these types of classes so i think i could keep good grades but is the workload too much? My math background is honors geometry algebra 1 and 2 im also taking a intro to coding class this year we touch up on python

Last year was a great year with good gpa, lots of activities, and plenty of free time to do things that I like to do. However, this year just seems to be failure after failure. I became extremely anxious about everything, leading to a drop in grades (like getting a 79 on a history essay and consistent 80s in math). This just makes me more anxious and demotivated and causes my performance to drop even more, and I donāt feel like doing anything anymore even stuff outside of school. I went from the mindset of wanting to get into an ivy to being happy if I just got into my state school.
Has anyone else experienced this sophomore year, and does anyone have tips for getting out of this trap? Is there any way to save my application from these heavy hits?

Hello, Iām in a pickle of whether I should take AP Statistics or AP Pre-Calculus over the summer to get ahead. But, from what I heard AP Statistics is a solid, easy AP in which would fit perfect for my Junior class schedule since it could replace my spanish class which I would no longer need to take or should I go ahead and self-study Pre-Calculus now so that during the summer Itāll act as a buffer for the enhanced pace of learning AP Pre-Calculus over the summer.
Just a little bit curious about this ā thanks.

So essentially whatās happening is that Iām in my sophomore year and weāre in the first quarter of the school year. Each quarter is a separate grading period and I got a 3.5 gpa. Unlike my freshman year where I maintained 4.0 the entire year. Iām honestly just scared and Iām not sure if Iām overreacting.

Im so pissed about ts. In the cafeteria at my school they removed the doors to the bathrooms entirely. I personally dont use the school bathrooms but most people do and I know some girls even change in there for sports practice. What makes it worse is the fact the stall gaps are disgustingly large. Like see someone taking a shit from the outside with the stall door closed large. Even though we still have stall doors this is a huge breach of privacy and not to mention how unsafe it is. Unfortunately it isnt technically breaking any rules so theres nothing we can do. Super fucked.
