Crazy how many people don't know about the wipes. I thought the devs made it very clear that's its a thing. Ill have to rewatch but it was in their "don't buy this game" warning video
Huh. Your absolutely right. I swear I heard a video of them saying there will be wipes. Was it the tutorial video in-game? Hmm maybe I hallucinated the video at this point
Yet millions show up to CoD and prestige things a billion times every year. I don't think it'll chase off anyone who wasn't going to be a short-term player anyway.
Having to wait to start at a fresh wipe and then being happy to not play it at the next wipe, or have to restart the grind and then lose it all again is a different level of external restriction. People who want to play a game for a bit prefer to choose for themselves when they start and when they stop
The end game stuff is incredibly OP, people are welcoming the wipes because the start of the game when everyone has shit to mid gear without attack ships bombarding you is really fun.
With the state the game got itself into in the last month, please believe me when I say it does the exact opposite. Game was basically unplayable for anyone who hadn't grinded like a full-time job, because the late game gear was so wildly better than everything else you were literally non-competitive. Some balance adjustments and a full wipe were very much required here to level the field again for a bit.
I'm not sure. I certainly am not a pro Wardogs player, I don't even have access to level 3 helmets. But it pushed me to try other ways to make money, by sniping, ferrying, reviving, building. And in the end that stuff made a difference.
I'm not against wipes, but I'm also not totally for them either. Maybe a more creative solution is needed.
They've already presented some of their plans for that, like the "betting on yourself" stuff that appears to perform in a match/life that's in progress and the RPG-style role things in progress.
They're definitely being more aggressive with balance, design, and short seasons right now because it's an Early Access game where they want to spend a couple of years letting the players define the final product. They've said 1.0 is expected to launch in about 2 years.
Hopefully more creative. I have fun piloting, playing recon, and trying to snipe all while defibbing whoever I can. But I don't want to be relegated to never playing infantry because it's a zero chance effort based on gear and unlocks alone. I would like a lot of permanent unlocks to get better and tailor my play style.
I dunno, all that other stuff you mentioned kinda sucks. It feels like you have 2 options, try and fight with worse gear and use tactics to gain an advantage, or you can play base building simulator. I personally don't find any enjoyment driving shipments back and forth or hitting the structures other people have built(because there's no point in building myself, since I don't have access to the tier 3 buildings).
The biggest problem on that was the leveling speed, and I feel like they've made that worse here. Now the endgame content (which only took a few days to arrive in S1) is going to come faster. Yes, casual players might get semi-caught up faster, but it means all of the endgame stuff is going to rule most lobbies even earlier, which I think is a net negative to solving the problem.
I don’t believe you. I played almost every day for a couple hours during the last wipe, didn’t break level 20 in any class and still had fun.
No other game has the same level of varied and replayability in it. Despite having just 3 maps, every game I played was wildly different.
The amount of hyperbolic posts due to X player being killed by X gun or vehicle is insane. I’ve been in t4 kits and killed by tars and ak’s. It literally doesn’t matter, and honestly if it’s a problem then the game isn’t for you.
The single important problem, imo, is availability for air counter. Gepard is being added as a mobile AA weapon so I’m sure that will counteract a lot of heli domination around circles.
Only for the short-term. They've stated the plan is for longer seasons later on, so wipes won't be as frequent and you'll have more time to get the things you want and use them for an extended period.
Idk if it's coming with this season, but they've mentioned they intend on creating a low level playlist for people to catch up in. But the wider issues will still be a problem because there's no way to make starter gear stronger/late game weaker and keep it interesting
Have they confirmed that after 1.0 release all of the basic guns will still be reset each season? Since it's early access, I was just hoping things that wiped throughout would likely change after release. There needs to be overall progress to keep season to season to feel accomplished and good about playing.
Did they say they were gonna increase xp progression? In the recap video I seen they said they had two options to close the gap between the 300 hour player and 10 hour player. Those two options were to increase speed so everyone gets endgame quicker or to slow the progression to keep everyone at the same level longer, and they chose the latter.
Patch notes say 55% LESS XP required to reach level 20, while higher levels will take around 25% less XP to reach. Should be a good change overall and let players get decent gear much quicker without allowing everyone to hit the highest tier gear in the first week
This was a hot topic since the release of the video, but you don’t need to quote that old news anymore now that the patch notes are out. They decreased XP required across the board
Sorry not keeping up with wardogs hot topics, you do realize you aren’t even in the wardogs subreddit? So don’t expect that everybody has seen every bit of news that’s come out or every discussion that’s been had.
Then don’t try and speak on subjects you know you’re wrong about? I didn’t even see I’d made an identical reply to like 4 people below this because you’re still talking about how “they lied”. And you’re still defending your old viewpoint with the same old drivel too.
Edit your comment or delete it if you’re so annoyed you’re being corrected.
Sigh, here we go again with this. In the recap, they were talking about the Alpha and Beta tests. For the early access release, they chose the latter. NOT for Season 2. It's explained pretty well in the video and has been reiterated multiple times by the devs since launch.
Yeah to be honest I’m not a huge fan of the resets because I don’t have a ton of time to play. I didn’t find out about wipes until after I bought it and played like 10 hours too. Might not have bought it had I known. If I had more time to play it wouldn’t be a big deal, but I just don’t.
The wipes are because they are still fine-tuning the progression and leveling. In the patch notes you will see that many of the gear and weapons have been switched around, either in level requirements or in the gameplay branch they belong to. Devs have said that after 1.0 they hope they won't need wipes anymore.
Well I’ll probably still put the game down for a while and see what happens. I’m definitely not going to bother if wipes are a regular thing moving forward.
They’ve said that the wipes are happening while they work on the progression system and that they’re tracking all xp to give back when the final system arrives
I don't really understand wipes in the context of a game like this. Battlefield has never had wipes. Tarkov really only had wipes because they were in beta and changing tasks and structure for 1.0. Now tarkov doesn't even wipe in 1.0.
The idea behind it is simple. Sometimes the journey is better than the destination. People strive to unlock things, being max level will make people permanently leave eventually. Also tarkov probably isn't a good example of not wiping anymore considering how many player it has lost due to horrible management.
They are trying to test the progression and economy. Unlike BF, there is a meta outside each match. You keep the money, and the progression you make isn't just to unlock weapons to enjoy like in BF. It affects how you xan support them team, and earn money to eventually invest outside the matches. That last part isn't in yet, but they are trying to calibrate with the intention to ease it in when implemented.
Part of the deal with seasons, is that each season is a new "race" which will have slight changes to the meta: you might unlock helicopters slower, or have cheaper artillery. The idea is to change the way the players interact through a season, and for the money to be invested in different ways each time, which makes it feel fresh.
A game like Battlefield might have a new season, which may or may not include a new map or temporary mode, but the game progression temains unchanged and so is the gameplay.
I actually enjoy it in this when a lot of the game changing equipment and vehicles are locked behind high level. It gives a very dynamic tail to a season. The games will play completely differently day 1 of the wipe vs day 30. We saw this in season 1 as tactics completely changed week to week.
It's not forced though, its playing with a seasonal character or just doing the prestige system on permanent characters. and even with the prestige system you are allowed to bring stuff with you for your next start.
No, they won't. They explicitly said nothing in EA will be monetized. If it is, they straight up lied multiple times on official communications about this.

Season 2? Isn’t the game in early access?
