Question Star technology

Does anyone know how the modes for GregTech multiblock structures work? I’m referring to the "voiding modes"—specifically, how to change the behavior where a multiblock only functions when I activate them, but then fails to output any materials.

Looking for mod(s) Anyone know if the sevtech ages mod pack still works?

Exactly what the title is. I've been wanting to play it again but idk if all the mods in the modpack still work considering the modpack itself says it was last updated in 2021.

I made something My first attempt at making a mod — Bet & Coin!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

At first, I just wanted to make a mod because using Chisels & Bits on my friend's server made my PC really laggy. So I thought turning my models into mod blocks might help. But as I got more ideas, the project kept growing, and I thought it would be cool to release it publicly!

Anyway, Bet & Coin is a casino-themed mod with some playable games and decorative blocks. I wanted to make the blocks more interactive. It just got approved on CurseForge, so I thought I'd share it here. Please let me know what you think!

I've noticed that opinions on AI can be a bit complicated, to say the least. I have to admit I know basically nothing about coding, so I used AI to help with it. I didn't think too much about it when making this mod, and I'm sorry if it bothers anyone!

Question Big kitchen-sink packs like FTB Evolution and All the Mods, WITHOUT the heavy tech focus?

Post image
0 Upvotes

EDIT: After posting this, I looked into FTB Architect's Exodus, since chasing a Norse mythology-themed modpack seemed like the best bet.

Looked inside:

Applied Energistics 2

s(end me)mes

I wanted to pick out a kitchen-sink pack and add me and my friends' preferred mods on top, so we could have a lot of the benefits of a finished pack (balancing, quests) without the enormous amount of work involved.

They don't like tech mods much, so that's why I went for kitchen-sink.

As much as I wanted those modpacks to truly be kitchen-sink (as in a mix of all types of mods), it's clear there's a focus on tech. They have as much tech mods as a tech modpack (I counted, over 100 for FTB Evo 1), and not enough of everything else.

Where's Aquamirae? Bosses of Mass Destruction? Cannibal Villages? Antarchy?

Where's the animal mods like Hybrid Aquatic? Animalia Exotica?

Mythika? Legendary Monsters? Myths & Legends? RealmRPG Sea Dwellers? Myths of the Sea?

We can argue about their quality, but it sure is better than the token Twilight Forest for the 1000000th time just to say you're kitchen-sink. There's only Cataclysm as a big "RPG" mod I can see in there.

I can forgive a few tech mods in something labeled kitchen-sink, but see the image. Is that really needed?

And before you say, "Just play an RPG pack!"

Check Prominence 2's modlist.

Let me tell you what I saw before I stopped looking: Applied Energistics 2, Modern Industrialization.

There's just no escape.

"Just ignore those mods": I doubt I can 100% completely ignore them, I wanted a modpack specifically so the mods would be integrated, balanced, and have quests. And even if I could, I can tell you from making modpacks myself that 100 mods makes a difference in performance (although I don't think I'm saying something new here).

I don't have a personal vendetta against tech mods. Well actually I do, but I wouldn't have made my previous post asking for more modpacks like Cuboid Outpost and CABIN if I couldn't stand them at all.

But when even the supposed RPG pack has them... The same group of mods that every tech modpack uses... I get complaining about Create being in everything, and there's many other valid things to complain about it, but this is not better.

At this point I think just throwing mods together is better and I don't want it to be true, please god don't send me down the rabbit hole of making my own modpack again.

I made something I built a Minecraft modpack companion tool with a built-in config editor (NeoForge 1.21.1 / Personal Project)

Hey everyone!

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been building StarTools - Modpack Manager, a desktop companion tool to help streamline making, auditing, and tweaking modpacks. It’s an independent, open-source personal project designed to fix the headache of digging through file explorer windows. Don't expect amazing art or UI. I personally like to keep it simple but even beyond that, I am not a great artist (No AI assets are used).

⚠️ Before Anything Else: BACKUP YOUR INSTANCES

The tool is designed to be non-destructive (trashed files go to a staging folder rather than permanent deletion), but modding is messy. Please back up your instances and world saves before using!

A Few Quick Notes

  • Personal Project: This is a hobby project in active beta (v0.5.0), not enterprise software. Please expect rough edges.
  • AI Assisted: The code was written with the assistance of AI coding tools. I’m sharing it because it genuinely helped my workflow and might help others too. (The logo is hand-made in Canva, though!)
  • Testing Scope: Primarily tested on NeoForge 1.21.1 with ATLauncher instance paths, but it operates on standard folder structures, so other launchers should work as long as you point to the instance root.
  • Windows SmartScreen Notice: Because I don't pay hundreds of dollars for a Microsoft signing certificate, Windows will show the blue "Windows protected your PC" popup. Click "More info" → "Run anyway".

🛠️ Key Features

1. Modlist Auditing

  • Dependency Warnings: Flags missing and optional dependencies visually so you can spot why something won't load before launching. You can also add custom dependency rules.
  • Environment Detection: Categorizes mods by Client, Server, or Both.
  • Modrinth Enrichment: One-click fetch to pull official icons, project links, and tags via anonymous SHA-1 hashes (the app stays offline otherwise).
  • Safe Management: Toggle mods on/off using the built-in disabled folder, and restore trashed mods from staging.
  • Archive Viewer: Quick shortcut to inspect any .jar contents using your system archiver (NanaZip only atm, because that's what I use myself).

2. Built-in Config Editor

  • IDE-style Split View: Folder tree on the left, Monaco code editor (the engine behind VS Code) on the right.
  • Syntax Highlighting: Full support for .toml, .json, .json5, .cfg, and .yaml.
  • Mod-to-Config Binding: Suggests matching configs for each mod. If you delete/disable a mod, it prompts you to clean up its associated configs. You can also bind manually.
  • Quick External Edit: Jump straight to external VS Code if you prefer.

3. Unified Packs Tab

  • Inspect, enable, and disable Shaderpacks, Resource Packs, and Datapacks from one place.
  • Edit text settings (like shaders.properties) directly in the app.

4. Snapshots (Beta)

  • Take quick snapshots of your pack state.
  • Restores all your .toml/.json configs from a zip archive and resets active/disabled mod states (does not re-download deleted JARs. You can use Restore for it).

5. Custom Theming & Dashboard

  • Ships with Obsidian (Dark) and Warm Oat (Light) themes.
  • Supports custom community themes via theme.json and custom CSS.
  • Multi-instance switcher (tracks up to 5 instances) with an inspector dashboard.

⚠️ Caveats & Known Quirks

  • No CurseForge support yet: CurseForge requires formal application review for third-party desktop tools, so online fetching currently uses Modrinth exclusively.
  • Metadata Heuristics: Mod authors sometimes tag environments or dependencies incorrectly (or omit them). The tool does its best algorithmically, but double-check your list. It is what it is.
  • Only works with VS Code and NanaZip as external tools, since those are what I use
  • Config Binding: Config detection matches names heuristically. It will occasionally flag similarly named files, so always check the confirmation box before deleting.
  • OS: Windows only for now (tested on Windows 10 & 11).

FAQ

  • Why? Can’t you just use Prism? Yeah, but Prism has no config editor, and some of the features above aren’t available there. I also like ATLauncher’s download system, which shows each mod’s dependencies right alongside it, and that matters to me.
  • Why not use VS Code? I don’t like juggling different places while developing my pack or just manage a modpack I am playing atm. The tool can still open any config in VS Code if you prefer that.
  • It doesn’t have X! The tool is only a few weeks old and I’m still fleshing things out. Suggestions, bug reports, and feature requests are welcome.
  • Should I expect lots of updates? Frankly, no. I’ll keep working on it and add the features I want (plus good suggestions I get), but it’s a personal project, so please bear with me.

Available as both a portable .exe (no installation required) and an installer:

Github in the comments.

If you try it out, please let me know your thoughts or report any bugs on GitHub. And again: back up your instances first!

I made something Working on a Surivial Friendly Map Mod - As Far As We Roam

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hello There!

I've been working on a map mod called As Far As We Roam (AFAWR) and wanted to share it

I think most map mods ruin exploration, one of the best parts of Minecraft, even if they don't mean to. Once you can see every cave pocket through walls, track mobs and players, and teleport between waypoints, a survival world turns into a GPS simulator. I wanted a map that feels like a vanilla survival feature. It should help you keep your bearings and leave the places you haven't found yet unknown, while still giving you a full set of cartography tools.

What it does:

  • The map only shows areas you've walked through and seen yourself. On a server, it won't fill in from other players.
  • Caves don't show up just because you walked over them. Underground areas only appear once you've explored them in person & have seen (no see caves nearby).
  • There's no radar. Mobs and other players stay off the map, and the only marker is yours.
  • It works like vanilla filled maps when terrain changes. If your friend digs or builds somewhere, you have to go back there before the map updates.
  • You can draw on the map, ms-paint-style, to trace routes, mark danger zones or outline your territory.
  • You can place pins with custom icons, names and descriptions. They only show on the map screen, so they don't clutter your HUD.
  • It can import your Xaero's World Map and JourneyMap data, so you keep the areas you've already mapped.

I would love any feedback or feature suggestions that you would like to see! The mod is currently in testing (making sure there are no bugs). I plan on backporting it from 26.2 to 1.20.1 (Almost done with it). Mod is not out yet. (Might release early if positive feedback)

Problem Liminal Industries: Engineer's Toolbox Ate my Tools!

Its a bit difficult to illustrate the problem by image since something's missing lol, but I just realised whenever I've been middle-click sorting my engineer's toolkit in the Liminal Industries modpack any tools I've been keeping in the Tools pocket dissappear. Just tested it with an engineer's wrench and can confirm that's what happened. Any fix known for this and also any way I could get my tools back?

Problem Oritech Steam Engines Question (Stoneblock 4)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, I'm trying to increase FE output from my fuel generators by chaining steam engines, but from testing it seems that for some reason they decrease my FE by quite a bit? I'm hitting about 750% processing speed from these two chains of steam engines, which I thought would be good enough to hit the apparent increase of FE output, but compared to the regular fuel generator next to it its quite a bit less.

Regular Fuel Generator (no addons): 10,000 FE/T

Fuel Generator + Steam Engines: 4,500 FE/T

Also yeah put some addons on both the fuel generators but didn't see any change in FE output so uh not sure what's going on there...

Thanks for any insights you can offer!

(FE output was measured with the large energy storage, both generators are using turbo fuel, and I am aware that 700% is the sweet-spot for the steam engines)

Looking for mod(s) Are there any alternatives to AE2 or RS that also offer on-demand autocrafting?

I'm bored of using AE2 in every modpack that I play. I know about other storage solutions like Occultism or Ars Nouveau's lectern thing and they're great for storage itself but don't offer anything else really. I think Integrated Dynamics also has some sort of auto-crafting but I don't know if it's any good when compared to AE2.

Discussion Allegation on The Art of Blocks chill mod!!!

• Upvotes

A lot of people know about The Art of Blocks, a japanese minecraft texture pack "creator", who "made" chill mod, a paid realistic minecraft texture pack, with a free version called chill mod 1.3

Recently, a minecraft Content creator called Supermj767 shared 2 videos searching for this texture pack and eventually advertising for the thief as the original creator.

What nobody knows is that this pack is stolen from a chinese guy called xiaokun, who originally designed the pack and published it on a website: afdian.com

this is his profile
https://afdian.com/a/xiaokunCQCZB

Yes, I know that the chinese guy also sells his pack
I'm not here to discuss my opinion on selling games mods and texture packs, I'm here to address a thief from Japan, who is exploiting the gap between the Chinese internet and the global internet to steal the content made by another man and sell it

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!

If you don't believe me, install the free version from The Art of Blocks website and compare the textures to those you see on the chinese guy profile

Also, does these look like fucking japanese lanterns and dragons??!!
These are 100% Chinese culture and art

I should take some of the blame, i knew about all of this 2 years ago when "TAOB" wasn't very popular, tho i didn't knew that i can share this problem with others (on reddit or other websites)
All i did was flooding peoples comments on instagram about this

Please help and spread the word

I'm not trying to make drama, I'm trying to bring justice for a man who is getting robbed right now

Im setting up a server with improved world gen through tectonic and terralith and when I installed voxy to be able to see it these areas where the ground wouldnt load appeared. They appear right on the edge of my normal render where voxy kicks in. I have been told this is because of intel integrated graphics on my laptop but I cant find any real leads on how to fix this. Is this something I just have to deal with or is there something im missing?

I made something I ported my tech mod Voltex to NeoForge 1.21.1

Hey FTB! Voltex now has a NeoForge 1.21.1 version, with the same content as on Forge 1.20.1:

- one-click multiblocks with a structure wand

- heat as a resource: thermogenerators, heat pipes and a tower that stores it

- an electromagnet particle accelerator, a cryo chamber and an industrial miner with drill beacons

- nanites you evolve for better ore yields

- ME ports that plug late machines into AE2 autocrafting

For pack makers: KubeJS 7 schemas for every machine, c: tags, optional JEI, Jade and AE2.

CurseForge: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/voltex

Modrinth: https://modrinth.com/mod/voltex

Bug reports and ideas welcome!

Question Need Help picking a Gaming Laptop

I'm currently looking to buy a gaming laptop to play large modpacks with shaders. My current laptop can't handle the larger packs and I'm look to upgrade and don't know what to get. I'm open to a pc but would prefer a laptop and my budget is around 1,500 dollars (would like to spend less). Please help
