The bottom 5 coins are the standard generic 1oz and 1/2oz silver coins from my main collection for size comparison.

Very hard to find new fractional bullion where i live so am very proud of my newest editions.

Experience with Gold Transactions from Chad / SONEMIC?

I’m currently doing due diligence on a potential institutional gold transaction involving Chad, Africa, and SONEMIC (Société Nationale d’Exploitation Minière et de Commerce).

I’m looking to hear from anyone who has had firsthand experience purchasing, exporting, financing, refining, or facilitating gold originating from Chad.

Has anyone successfully completed or committed to a transaction involving SONEMIC or another authorized Chadian gold supplier?

I’d particularly appreciate information regarding reliability, export documentation, Ministry of Mines approvals, chain of custody, assay/refining, delivery performance, and whether payments and shipments were completed as agreed.

I’m not looking for brokers promoting new deals.

Primarily verifiable firsthand experiences from buyers, refiners, financiers, logistics providers, or professionals familiar with the Chadian gold trade.

Please feel free to reply here or send me a private message.

Thank you,

Sal

Pre33 vs Modern Coins

Is there any downside to buying Pre33 US coins vs modern sovereign coins? I'm thinking about eventually picking up an Indian Eagle or a Gaudens Double Eagle. Will the older coins be harder to resell or sell for further under spot than the modern coin, in case the need to sell arises?

Why put gold in a “bill” format?

Most of the physical gold I see people stack is coins or bars.

So when I heard about these Redbacks (gold in a thin, wallet-sized piece), it made me wonder what the real point is vs just buying a normal bar or coin.

I’ll be honest…they do look pretty cool, and I get the appeal in theory. Something you can actually carry around that’s still physical gold, but I still have some questions.

If you’ve owned or held one, do they feel durable, or more gimmicky in person? Are y’all actually carrying these in your wallet or did they end up in a drawer like everything else?

Before I buy any of these, I really want to know what other people think. That said, they do look pretty cool.

My first gold bar

I got my first job in July and now that it’s October I finally saved enough to buy my first oz of gold. I paid around $4,500 for it and I’m pretty excited about it.
Since I’m new to owning physical gold, where do you guys recommend keeping it safe? Also, I keep getting this irrational thought that gold could somehow drop to $0 one day lol. I know that’s extremely unlikely and I’m probably just overthinking it, but did any of you feel like this when you first started buying gold?
Is there anything you think a beginner should learn about owning gold that would help me understand the investment better?

General question/advice

I don't know alot buying gold but I think I want to start investing in physical gold bars/coins. My question is what website is a known legitimate company that sells gold and what is buying at spread or something I heard something similar and I'm not sure what that means.

If I wanted to buy 1 oz total of gold right now, what would be the best balance of premium, size, and liquidity?

The possibilities are endless; 31 individual 1g pieces, four 1/4 oz coins, two 1/2 oz coins/bars, a single 1 oz coin/bar, or some combination of sizes.

For those who have bought fractional gold, or any gold for that matter, what sizes/products have you found to have the best liquidity without paying a ridiculous premium up front, or where the premium is justifiable?

Edit: this would be for my stack; the only reason I would sell is if it got to a point where I was bartering with it, or if I am DESPERATE for money.

Should you own fractional gold for liquidity?

Hi.

I have a stack of 1 oz AGE’s. I have bought some ASE’s as a way to use precious metals for exchange rather than a 1 oz gold coin. I mean, who can make change for that at $4100 for an ounce.

I was considering adding to my sliver and thought, 1/4 oz gold coin is about the same as 20 1/4 gold coins. So why not just own 5 of those for the same purpose?

Thoughts?

Silver stack in East Asia— how liquid is physical silver there?

I’m based in Singapore and am thinking of starting a small physical gold and silver stack.

Gold seems fairly straightforward to me because there appears to be a well-established resale market here. What I’m less certain about is silver.

I am looking at silver coins such as:

Britannias

Philharmonics

Australian Kangaroos

Perth Mint Lunar coins

Whilw it seems much easier to slowly accumulate silver compared with gold.

For Singapore-based stackers:

How easy is it actually to resell ordinary 1 oz investment silver in Singapore?

For eventual resale, is there much difference between a Britannia, Kangaroo, Maple, Philharmonic or Lunar coin, or will a dealer basically value all of them based on silver content?

I’m not looking at this as a short-term trade or expecting precious metals to make me rich. I’m more interested in slowly building a physical store of value while also enjoying the collecting aspect.

Bullion pack chasing is actually ridiculous. You watch someone pull a good piece and suddenly you’re convinced the next pack is gonna be the one.

Next thing I know I’m $203 in for 5 Mercs wondering where I went wrong. 😭

Whatnot really knows how to get you with those packs spins.

Worst part is I could’ve bought like 1/20 of gold, or 2 Libertads, or 2 silver slabs or WTV instead of 5 Mercs that are $25 melt.

“The deals are there” there’s like 1/1000th of a chance of actually getting a deal. Better luck on [r/pmsforsale](r/pmsforsale)

Uganda’s gold market in 2026,what are people on the ground seeing?

Uganda’s gold sector seems to be going through a major shift right now.

Gold exports have become Uganda’s largest source of export earnings. In 2025, Uganda reported about $5.8 billion in gold exports, up from $3.3 billion in 2024. However, the Bank of Uganda has also noted that a large part of the gold exported through Uganda is imported from neighboring countries and processed/re-exported, rather than being mined domestically.

The trend has continued into 2026. Gold exports reportedly reached $814.78 million in May 2026, up 67.7% from May 2025.

At the same time, international gold prices remain extremely high. Around September 20, one market tracker put 24K gold at roughly UGX 555,000 per gram in Uganda, although actual local buying prices can differ substantially depending on purity, assay, quantity, location and dealer margins.

There are also regulatory changes happening. Uganda has tightened requirements around gold buying and exporting, including licensing, verification of purity and documentation. The government has also been discussing greater traceability and more centralized gold buying arrangements.

I'm curious about what people actually see in the market:

  • What are the current buying prices per gram in Kampala and the mining areas?
  • How big is the difference between the international/spot price and what local dealers actually pay?
  • Are miners getting better prices than they were a year ago?
  • Is the increase in gold prices attracting more small-scale miners and traders?
  • How difficult is it currently to buy legally and verify the purity/origin of gold?
  • For people involved in the industry, is Uganda becoming more of a gold-producing country or primarily a regional gold trading/refining hub?

Would especially appreciate comments from miners, licensed dealers, refiners, exporters, jewellery businesses and people buying/selling gold in Uganda.

What are you seeing on the ground?

Silverbugs first piece of gold

This is my first piece of gold is a 1/2 gram. I know it’s small. But I’m a couple months into stacking precious metals, my main focus being silver and I lean towards the fractional side as I am able to source for very little premium. Now gold on the other hand, I am finding to be increasingly difficult to source anywhere close to spot. Any advice for someone who doesn’t have gold money but wants some gold? I like fractional gold but can’t rationalize the 100% premium on these little 1/500. The nuggets are close to spot, but are they liquid? The 1/2 gram was from my LCS today, as it was the first time I’ve seen gold this small there. Paid $80, at a 15% premium did I over spend?

My dad is thinking about investing in rhodium. He’s looking at buying around 15 × 1 oz rhodium bars.

I’m trying to understand whether this makes sense as a long-term investment, especially given how volatile rhodium prices have been.
For anyone who has invested in physical rhodium:
•Do you think it’s worth holding long term?
•How difficult is it to sell when you want to exit?
•Are the dealer premiums/spreads a major issue?
•Would you personally consider 15 oz a reasonable amount, or is that too concentrated?
•What are the biggest risks with physical
rhodium that someone new to it might overlook?

Would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually bought or sold physical rhodium. What has your experience been?

SD BULLIONS RESPONSE WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE…NOT WHAT I EXPECTED

Post image
0 Upvotes

first, I have purchased from SD many times.  Up until Covid and when silver spiked, I always thought their services and products were good and then we all remember the  delays during Covid. I’ve only purchased  from them one or two times thereafter.  I found Monument Metals and Bullion Exchange to have better products, better prices, and better customer service.  They sometimes include a little extras like capsules and recently they even sent me graded coins when they didn’t have to.

Anyway, I recently purchased a 1 g gold bar that had the below pictured defect on it, which I thought was a gouge in it and  seeing Silver that had me  concerned.  i sent in a picture, but SD  concluded that it was “residue” and since I had purchased it from the secondary market, all they guarantee is that it’s gold. It can be as beat up or disfigured as they want, apparently, because they were unwilling to exchange it. When I purchased secondary marketstuff from Monument or BE…. Their  always looked brand new.  to be fair  SD bullion‘s ad does say that it might look used, but I’ve never seen a bar with “residue“ on it, and SD couldn’t tell me what the residue was. All they could tell me was It was gold. According to SD, The residue didn’t affect the value of the gold and they weren’t willing to do anything about it. That may be true, but I guarantee you when I go to sell it …. The  buyer or receiver is going to have the same reaction  I had. so just be aware that   basically SD takes the position that as long as it’s gold or silver…that’s as far as their obligation goes.  Frankly, I’m surprised they even send the stuff out, which tells you how close they’re looking at it.

‘To me, it seems silly to lose a customer over $100, but when I mentioned this to the SD  they did not change their position. so be it.  I will vote with my pocketbook…. It’s funny how businesses show their true colors when business is booming and they don’t really need you as a customer but then when the market dumps, then they Want you to come back. We have seen this with cell phone companies and television cable companies, and apparently now with bullying companies. I have passed this information  on so people who may buy from SD are aware regarding their position.   I should have known when  silver was way up and they had 1 million buyers. They did nothing to move longtime customers up in the shipping rotation and they made us wait just as long as a new buyer.

Goldtober + Calendar + Golden Age

Disclaimer: this is not financial advice - this is strictly speculation and scenario planning. Please consume responsibly.

This September will go down as one of the most important PM months this decade. Specifically for bidders. I'm not going to drop all my research here, as I don't think this is the board for that kind of content. But I will present a calendar to clue you in.

12–13 Sep BRICS New Delhi Payments/insurance narrative. Gold benefits in paper.
15 Sep Clarity Act vote Last reasonable window this year. If pass = PM bid. Central Bank narrative shift on fiat. Surprising degree.
17–18 Sep BoJ Reverse carry-risk overlap with Black Sea war-risk insurance exhaustion. All XAU combinations vol. Good for paper buys.
22–28 Sep UNGA / Xi–Trump ~24th Geopolitical bid for gold. Physical - Central Banking.
6-7 Oct Classic second seasonal dip + Brazil vote (4th) If Black Sea/Europe is still hot, this dip is shallower. Perhaps last best day for gold bid.
12–18 Oct IMF/World Bank Bangkok Food-inflation language helps gold. Water-scarcity and food-inflation major fait-vol drivers next year.
Late Oct Diwali physical bid Local Indian strength; can fail if COMEX is in a risk-off. Likely start of major bull run, physical + paper.
3 Nov U.S. midterms Vol event. Silver more fragile than gold into the print. D victory = bull run escalates.
10~ Nov China REE pause review If Beijing tightens = gold continues bull.
2027 Hold Do not sell.

If you are thinking of making a purchase, the next thirty days are your golden window.

About a year ago, I posted that silver (and PM) would have a major move. Not just in price, but in adoption and narrative. A few months later, silver made the biggest move in modern history. This is another critical moment for precious metals. Major players (who buy physical gold in tons) are waiting for certain conditions in law, in markets, and political opportunity to occur before operating in synch to adjust reserve ratios from fiat to REE+Energy commodities, select crypto, and PM (gold in particular). The dates above are referential points in time for when public decisions will be made and the winds of change will be alluded to.
