Ford Gone to Shit what do I do?

I bought a 2021 Ford Bronco sport from CarMax in September of last year. In the past year I’ve completely paid off the car (25k). It has about 75k miles. Please keep in mind I’m a 20 y/o girl and I know NOTHING about cars. It’s been constant issues since June and I don’t know what to do at this point.

Around June I had to get all breaks replaced. Then my Catalytic Converter went out like 2 weeks later. Luckily this was covered by my Ford warranty because I was under 70k miles at the time. Like a month later my check engine light came on AGAIN with the Turbo Underboost code. They said I needed a whole new turbo underboost system and I paid $3800 to repair it. My car is still shuddering and drives horribly. The shop that did the turbo told me my transmission is going.

So I’ve already spent close to $5000 on repairs this year. On top of the 25k I spent earlier this year to buy the car. Nothings covered by warranty, I never bought the CarMax extended warranty. Is there anything I can do? There’s no way a 2021 should be needing a catalytic converter, turbo underboost, and transmission in one year though right? My boyfriends dad suggest I just trade it in and get a new car but I love the car and would be so disappointed to lose so much money trading it in just ONE year later. Any advice on if I can contact Ford or CarMax? Should I just pay to fix the transmission? Or do I trade it in and take the loss?

General Advice I’m a college girl whose car is getting old and I have no idea what to replace it with. What car would yall suggest?

Hii my name is Bella and I currently drive a standard Toyota SUV that my mom gave to me before I went to school. We’ve had it for awhile now and it’s getting up there in mileage and it’s been having break issues lately so my mom and I decided it’s time to start looking for a new car.

I do have a couple preferences, but I just have no idea where or how to start looking for something that will do what I want.

I’m an avid camper and I also just got my boaters license and want to be able to take my family’s boat out once I become more proficient, so I was thinking it might be smart to get a truck?

I’d like something I can hitch a boat onto, strap a canoe or kayak on top of, and also something I can still fit plenty of friends in for when we’re going out together.

Some less important wants I have are that I want a non black/grey/white color (also not red) and this would be my dream, but also a bench style front seat that can fit 3~

This is a realm that I am completely illiterate in and so is my family so I have no idea where to start asking and so I’m here! Sorry if this isn’t the purpose of this subreddit, thanks for any help you all give!

General Question Help with Window Tint while crossing state lines?

Hi all - I bought my first car and I’m looking to get it tinted. In Mass, they allow 35% tint on the front windows. My family lives in NJ where I will be driving to regularly. In NJ, no tint on front windows are allowed. Will cops pull me over and ticket me even with a Mass license plate? I will also be driving through NY which also does not allow it I believe. Would you just not get your front windows tinted if you were me? Thanks!

Cant title old truck?

Aight let’s try this question here because over on the DMV thread, people decided to pick apart the issue and just act retarded

LOOKING FOR ADVICE OR WHAT TO DO

I live in Massachusetts

So I purchased a 1996 f250 from Connecticut about a year ago and the only thing the seller had was just bill of sale. I asked if he had anything else (old registration, copy of old title) he said because of the age of the truck Connecticut asks for the title back. And I guess he decided to just hand everything over. He said to text or call if I had issues. Well I’ve been using it as a farm truck and just driving it within a couple miles of the farm (illegally).

I tried emailing the seller, texting, calling. And absolutely nothing. The guys like late 70s so idk if he died lol.
I’ve seen some behind the door methods of going to different states to title but I seriously don’t know what to do anymore. I have just the bill of sale and thats it. Can’t register it because I have absolutely no proof of prior ownership.

Anything helps!

And btw. The truck is not stolen. Months after I purchased it I asked for them to see if they had anything and they sent me a 1996 application for registration. And the dmv said it wasn’t good enough

General Question Where can I get reputable wheels?

I have been looking for a new set of wheels since I've gotten my car (1991 miata), and I have found a handful I've liked since, but every time I've looked into them anything more than surface level looks, they are all "reps" (Kensei tandem 15, avid 1s, focal 421x) or a company that is generally referred to as unreliable (cracking, bending, etc etc) and the one that I have found that was both not a rep, and by a reliable company, is no longer in production (maxxim airs). I know you pay for what you get, but my god 2k for a set of just wheels is crazy right? Or am I just out of my league money wise.

I've been through tire rack, fitment industries, discount tire, and honestly its hard enough to find a wheel in 4x100 let alone one that looks decent.

Are there any reputable places or brands to get wheels that aren't reps or shitty quality?

And if I do settle for reps, its a miata, do I really need to worry about them bending or breaking that much? It's not the world's most performance based car.

Tldr: where do I get wheels that won't get me laughed out of car meets?

General Question Is it CVTs that are unreliable, or just Nissan's? I counted the complaints.

Someone in my Focus thread the other week said the Nissan CVT was next, so I counted those too.

2015-2018, cars that shipped a CVT as the automatic across all four years. This is the share of each car's NHTSA complaints that got filed under power train:

Nissan Sentra 41%
Nissan Altima 26%
Nissan Rogue 21%
Toyota Corolla 11%
Subaru Forester 10%
Honda Civic 10%
Honda Accord 7%
Subaru Outback 5%

By brand that's Nissan 27%, Toyota 11%, Honda 8%, Subaru 7%.

So the general thing people say about CVTs doesn't really hold up. Subaru, Honda and Toyota sit in single digits to low teens, which is unremarkable for any automatic. Nissan is three to four times that, and the Sentra is the worst of the lot by a distance. Four in ten complaints about that car are the gearbox.

If you've been avoiding CVTs across the board, you've mostly been avoiding one company's.

Mechanical Can someone take only 10 minutes to determine your car engine is toast?

I have a 200,000km 2010 Toyota RAV4 and brought it to a mechanic for indicated check engine + 4WD lights. I walked out of the shop and he called me 10 minutes later to come back telling me my engine was no good and one of the cylinder is way below compression PSI level (90) and an engine replacement is required.

I initiated this appointment to address the issue prior to selling the car and he recommended me to not spend money on the engine and just sell it to a dealership as is. I appreciated his honesty and he didn't charge me and this was all verbal findings by the way with no written report, but I can't help but feel the inspection may not have been thorough given it was 10 minutes?

Should I pay to replace the transmission on my toyota?

Its a 2019 toyota corolla ~87000 miles, the transmission needs to be replaced for about $4500. I have about 5k left on the loan and I'm not sure if I should pay to fix it or if I should get another car. Some context, I don't drive a lot and barely ever longer than 20 mins. The car guy said that I should replace the transmission sooner rather than later.

At what point does a normal commuter actually need a dash cam?

Most of my driving is an uneventful commute, so a camera feels unnecessary right up until someone runs a light, changes lanes without looking or gives a completely different version of a parking-lot incident. I am not expecting it to prevent anything; I am trying to understand whether the occasional evidence is worth another device on the windshield. What changed your mind, and did you choose something simple or end up wanting more coverage later?

Would it be odd to knock on someone’s door to offer to buy their car?

A little backstory, I was driving home from work this evening when I saw a pristine Mustang King Cobra II in someone’s yard, and I’ve been in the market for a mustang for a couple months

Would it be odd to knock on his door to ask about buying it? One concern I do have is it was off a country road so it may be a little extra odd for the owner to have someone knocking at their door

General Question Anyone know this car I forgot?

There was this car I saw a while ago when looking at porches, but I saw those sorts of fancy cars of other brands, so I cant remember if it was a porche, but I do think it was one that never got released, just showcased

the whole thing with it was it did not have any doors, instead the entire front half would lift up and move forwards to allow people to climb in and then it would come back down over them

I did save it but I completly lost where I noted it down and cannot find it at all anymore, if anyone can help me that would be great

I drew a crude sketch cause I am not an artist but I cannot post it here, if it would help please let me know and I will send it to you

General Question Did someone try to unlock my car?

I own a 2021 Range Rover velar and I usually park it outside the house. This morning when I woke up, the back door handle was popping out. I tried to open the door but it was locked, just the door handle popping out. The weather is warm and yesterday I locked the car before entering the house. Did someone try to unlock my car? I’m worried and confused

General Advice Is a body shop's written estimate usually an exact amount or can the final bill go higher?

I backed into a 2007 Corolla in a parking lot. Damage is mostly the front bumper. The shop gave a verbal estimate of $1,500 to $2,000 and a written one is coming.

My spouse thinks the written estimate will be one exact number and that's what the repair will cost. I think it could still be a range, and the final bill could go up if they find hidden damage once the bumper comes off.

Who's right? How often does the final bill end up higher than the written estimate on bumper damage like this?

Mechanical Why Won’t My Doors Lock?

2015 4Runner sr5 4x4 will unlock all doors with the interior button or key fob. None of the doors will lock with the key fob or interior lock button. I thought it would be an actuator but shouldn’t my other doors still lock with the interior button? Also changed the actuator on drivers door. No change. When I push either interior lock buttons I can hear a clicking under the dash near the interior fuse panel. I checked all fuses and they’re good. What could be causing this?

Toyota GT86 or Honda Civic as my first car at 21?

I’m planning to buy my first car next year, and I’m torn between a 2013 Toyota GT86 and a 2016–2020 Honda Civic.

I’m a freelancer earning around ₱120k/month, but my income isn’t always stable but this can increase or decrease not below 70k. I’m also a student, so I want to make a smart financial decision.

I genuinely love the GT86. I love its looks and the feeling of owning a sports car at 21. However, the Civic is newer, more practical, and probably less stressful to maintain.
My dilemma is that if I buy the Civic, I might regret not getting the GT86. But if I buy the GT86, I might regret choosing something I want over something I need.

For those who’ve owned either car, especially in the Philippines, what would you choose in my situation, and why?

General Question do people actually leave mirror dash cam screens on at night ?

I have been thinking about a mirror-style dash cam because my rear visibility is not great, but night driving is the part I keep getting stuck on. During the day the idea makes sense, especially if the rear window is blocked, but I wonder whether a screen in the mirror position becomes annoying on dark roads or when headlights are sitting behind you at a light. Do most people leave the rear feed on all the time, dim it way down, or turn the display off and only use it for reversing and setup? I am trying to figure out whether this is something you stop noticing or something that keeps pulling your eyes up.

General Question Best AWD car I can get for under 12k?

I’m getting out of my current 2021 cx 30 so I can get into something cheaper. I’m looking for something reliable that does well in snow (I live in ID and am a snowboarder, so I drive in pretty shitty conditions frequently) and can get me off trail and whatnot for hiking and camping. I’ve mainly been looking at some older rav 4s and hrv/crv’s but I wanted to know if there were any better options.

General Question About to jack my car up under covered car port but it just started drizzling, is it safe?

Hi,

It just started drizzling and I’m 10 min from home. Was planning to jack up my car and do an oil change under a covered car port once I got home.

Will wait about 30 min after arriving home to do the oil change.

Will it be safe to put my car on jack stands under the covered car port?

Is shifting into Neutral before applying the parking brake actually necessary?

When parking on a hill or in general, is it better to:

Stop → Parking brake → Park.

Or

Stop → Neutral → Parking brake → Park.

Does the second method actually protect the parking pawl better, or is the Neutral step unnecessary?

Help!?

Can someone explain why this might be happening???
Nissan Murano 2014
My car drives great until I drive uphill over 80mph. Utah highways are new to me and that’s the posted limit. The RPMs in my car go up while I’m pressing the gas and then it goes back down on its own while I’m trying to go fast. You can hear the motor is trying to work harder . It goes up and down while trying to maintain velocity. Before I take it into the shop, I’m a girl who knows nothing about cars and I don’t want to be taken advantage of going in clueless.

Modification Could the Hemi E-torque module be used as a power adder?

I have no plans of actually doing this, just a shower thought, but the 5.7 Hemi has an alternator that also doubles as an electric motor with up to 40hp and 130ftlbs to assist the engine directly through the belt drive.

What if someone simply slapped 2 of these on a Miata or something with a supercharger style belt drive? Or simply a regular electric motor? It seems like the simplest way to add hybrid power to any car.
