Ok is it just a me thing or is everyone on reddit’s go-to advice to recommend a therapist?

might be the dumbest question here but I need to know, so many times that I’ve asked for input or advice or just venting I’m told I need a therapist and I genuinely wonder is this like just a reddit thing or is it a “you are horribly screwed up oh my god“ thing

Is stealing hoodies or general clothing from boyfriends a legit thing?

Almost every day I find a woman PROUD that she stole another man's clothing artifact, discussing it on the internet with a group of women proud of her. Hoodies are most common.

Just... WHY?

Why do burnt oven mitts smell almost exactly the same as the video rental stores used to smell?

Every time my pot holders touch a hot pan for too long I'm suddenly taken back 25 years to walking around Video Plus. Was it all the lights combined with all the plastic tape cases? Or is this too specific of a memory that maybe just that one video store was always making pop corn or something to get people to buy popcorn, therefore always having a burning fabric/plastic smell?

Is there any country where the housing market is actually good and people are happy or at least neutral about it?

Most discussions about housing markets seem to focus on countries where housing is becoming increasingly unaffordable.

I'm curious whether there are any countries where the housing market is actually working reasonably well for the average person.

What does it mean when someone says 'some people just walk around undiagnosed' on TikTok?

I was scrolling through the comments on a video of one of my fandoms and one of them was like, 'they were all just running around undiagnosed'. I see it sometimes with real people too.

I know it's probably about mental conditions, but is it anything specific?

Interviewing older folks that are town natives?

I don’t have any journalism background but I am a writer and a history enthusiast. The town I live in has become the go to place to move and there seems to be more transplants than people actually from here and the place I grew up in is becoming shadows of what it used to be.

I want to know people’s story. I want to know what it was like even before I was born and what is being forgotten. Especially from a personal point of view.

The worst people could say is no (and most probably will if I decide to start asking) to conduct a formal interview; what would I need ask? What should I ask? My mind goes a mile a minute so the questions are there just too jumbled up to put it down.

I want to make an alt, but there are a few subs I am banned from. Just wondering if making an alt just for fun will cause me to be banned on my IP address? thanks!

EDIT: I will still be staying away from those subs on my alt, just want to make another account for fun

How to be a more tolerant person?

(24M) I was an immature and shy kid who tried sooo hard to fit in. Oh boy, heaven knows the bullying and the gaslighting i faced, and from my own friend group. Nowadays, after tons of disappointments, i don't care at all. The more i enjoy my own company, the less i tolerate other people.

I don't think i'm bitter, because there is some people i enjoy talking to, and i still have a lot of fun, at least when i'm alone. I don't hate them, i try to be fair and mantain at least a superficial interaction with them. But the fact is that i'm intolerant. If someone makes me something i don't like, it activates my fight or flight response, and i abandon the person. Example: if someone calls me dumb, or mocks me too much, or gaslight me. The problem is, i may end up alone hahahahahaha

I'm very hard on myself, and i end up being very hard on others too. I don't want to get along with people, for example, that does drugs, who smoke, drink too much, or are utterly irresponsible in general (and call their irresponsability "Radical"). I know i'm a stubborn person, and that's why i'm trying to be more tolerant. I'm still my priority, and i don't want someone bring their gigantic problems to my life.

5 days of talking on app: Is ghosting acceptable or send polite message?

The person is fine, I'm just kinda losing interest in talking. Would be ghosting be acceptable at this point? The messaging has been engaging but slow. They seem interested though. I could send polite message but might feel awkward randomly sending it. They also implied that aren't free for weeks, but would want to meet up. Decision kinda stressing me out. I sent like for more context. (haven't moved off app)

Thanks.

How icked out would cockroachs make guests ?

Hey everyone. I just needed some insight. Our house is cockroach infested to the brim. Its been like that for about 3 years now. It has been that way since before we moved in and we tried to get rid of them a bunch of times but i swear they just come back bigger. Anyway after a while we gave up and made friends with them. I don't know if it is obvious but we are dirt broke. We still live in a decent house by luck but its not like we can afford to move out.

The house is clean. There is a helper that cleans it as well everyday. we also clean up after ourselves. But i also understand that cockroachs are associated with dirt and stuff so we will be throwing a party and i wanted to know how icked out the guests would be.

For context most of these people have been in our house many times but not for a long time. The cockroachs aren't big or have wings. also none of the guests have a fear of cockroachs as far as i know. Usually the cockroaches are well behaved and dont come out much when guests are around but since this will last a while i dont know what the worst that can happen is. Any insight will be helpful because we are desensitised

how do i feel about this?

i 18F started talking to this guy about 4-5 months ago, tho we met on hinge i was about to start my first year of college and he was starting his 2nd yr, we never had any romantic or flirtatious conversations or intentions, ever we've only had casual conversations about life, college or general stuff and ive always been chill w that cs hes a nice friend to have, met him a few times always fun

recently we went on a party together w a group of my friends tho i only knew 2 ppl there and he knew no body.

It was very chill we planned to prebooze before we went to the event, he had brought alcohol for me n him only so when everyone else went to drink, me n him had about 3 shots of vodka he prolly had more, and then later i had 4 more and no clue ab him then as we reached the venue, i started to feel it n asked him to stay w me as i might pass out and he said dont worry

he held onto my hand and as soon as we entered and all throughout, i have zero alcohol tolerence so i was fucked over, couldn't see or feel anything neither could i stand straight i was all over him, i hugged him and we danced tg too he brushed my hair off my face, patted my head, and caressed my face and kept asking me if im okay these are the instants that i remember, now we also

made out

we were kissing very passionatly is what i was told my by sober friends

i wasnt conscious enough for a conversation so he was the one calling my friends, texting my mom and all of that, WHILE handling me.

he took me back home too..

and the next day everyone came up to me n told me u guys were so cute tg and what not

now,

he acted very normal next day and i asked him if he remembers anything, and he said no

and i told him that we made out and he said he doesnt remember and apologised n said sorry for being so drunk

hes been v distant and not texting me as much as we used to, i mean it wasn't regular js sending posts back n fourth sometimes not talking at all for days n sometimes regular

buutttttttttt

i asked him to meet me n he said he was busy, which he was technically.

cs hes in this college event something so he has to be there till 10pm but texting doesnt take too long no?

now.

i have caught feelings for him unfortunately and can not get over this idk what to do i wanna talk more about this every thing to him but he doesnt and idk has this ruined our everything we had??

does this clearly mean he doesnt like me??

how does he not remember it if he could walk around talk normally stand still and do every thing normally????

its driving me INSANE

DOES HE LIKE ME AT ALL?

SHOULD I TRY TALKING TO HIM AB IT?

Why is being a tall guy interpreted as more appealing?

I was at the gym talking to these guys and one was short, one was tall. The shorter guy made a joke about how going out to bars with his tall friend makes getting girls more difficult because his tall friend will get the attention.

So I asked the tall guy if he thought that it's true that girls are more attracted to him because of him being such a tall guy and he said yes. I asked but how do you know it's your height that is attracting these girls to want to be around you/date/have sex with you.

And he just laughed and said well because that's what girls tell me when they approach me they come up to me and smile telling me I'm tall and the conversation/sex happens from there.

So I asked him why does he think him being tall has this appealing affect on girls and he said he doesn't know. I asked him if the girls told him the reason but he said they didn't elaborate on why they found his being tall appealing.

So now I'm curious and want to know what the reason is that being a taller guy has this attractive pull on people. Is it socialized into us to believe a taller guy is appealing or is the attraction to taller guys more biological/instinctual. And if it is instinctual, what evolutionary benefits to such an instinct might there be.

Curious about people's perspective on this social/behavioral phenomenon.
