Am I wrong for refusing to hand over a cake my roommate sold when the customer showed up at our apartment?

My roommate started selling custom cakes about four months ago. She's actually pretty good at it, and I was happy for her when she started getting regular orders.

We share a two-bedroom apartment. At first she was making maybe one cake every other weekend, which was fine.

Now our kitchen is basically a bakery. There are cake boxes stacked on top of the microwave, frosting supplies everywhere, and usually half our fridge is occupied by orders.

We've had a few conversations about it. I don't mind her baking, but I told her I don't want strangers coming to our apartment for pickups, and I'm not comfortable being involved in her business.

She agreed.

Saturday morning, around 10:30, someone knocked on our door.

It was a woman picking up a birthday cake.

My roommate wasn't home. She'd gone to work at her regular job.

The woman showed me their messages. My roommate had sent her our address and written, "My roommate will be there, she'll give it to you."

Nobody had asked me.

I texted my roommate and she immediately called, telling me the cake was in the fridge and I just needed to give it to the customer.

Then she mentioned I was supposed to collect the remaining $45 in cash.

I said absolutely not. I'm not taking money from strangers, dealing with orders, or being responsible if something goes wrong with a cake I didn't make.

The customer looked genuinely upset. She'd driven about 35 minutes and needed the cake for her daughter's birthday party that afternoon.

I felt terrible for her, but I told her she'd have to arrange pickup directly with my roommate.

She left without the cake.

My roommate ended up leaving work early to meet her, and apparently the customer was furious. She demanded a partial refund for the wasted trip.

Now my roommate is saying I deliberately sabotaged her business over something that would've taken thirty seconds.

She's right about that part. The cake was sitting right there. I could've handed it over.

But I also feel like she deliberately put me in a position where saying no would make me look like an asshole.

We both pay rent, and I never agreed to turn our apartment into a place of business.

Am I wrong for refusing to help in that particular moment, knowing the customer was the one who'd suffer?

Am I wrong for telling my boyfriend I won't move in with him unless his roommate moves out?

My boyfriend (28M) and I (26F) have been together for almost three years. We've been talking about moving in together for a while, and recently he suggested that I move into his apartment when my lease ends in two months.

The problem is that he currently lives with his best friend, who's also 28. They've been roommates for about four years, and my boyfriend thinks there's no reason to change that arrangement just because I'm moving in.

I actually like his friend. He's a nice guy, we get along well, and I've never had any serious issues with him. But I don't want to live with him. I want to live with my boyfriend, just the two of us. I want to be able to walk around in my pajamas, have private conversations, cook dinner together, or spend a lazy Sunday on the couch without feeling like there's always another person around.

When I explained this, my boyfriend said I was making things unnecessarily complicated. He pointed out that splitting rent three ways would allow us to save a lot more money, especially since we're hoping to buy a place eventually. And financially, he's not wrong. We'd definitely save more if we all lived together.

But for me, moving in together is supposed to be a step forward in our relationship. I don't really see the point of leaving my own apartment, where I have complete privacy, just to move into a place where I'd basically be joining two guys who've already established their own routine.

I told him I'd be happy to look for a new apartment together, or we could wait until his current lease ends and his friend finds another place. I'm not asking him to kick his friend out immediately. I just don't want to move in while he's still there.

My boyfriend got upset and said I was giving him an ultimatum. He also said it was unfair to expect his friend to move out when they've been living together perfectly fine for years. Apparently, his friend was excited about the idea of all three of us sharing the apartment, which honestly surprised me because nobody had even asked how I felt about it.

Now my boyfriend thinks I'm being stubborn and prioritizing my comfort over our financial future. He says plenty of couples live with roommates and that I'm making a big deal out of nothing.

I understand his point about saving money, but I also feel like I'm allowed to have preferences about my own living situation. I'm perfectly fine staying in my apartment until we can figure something out.

Am I wrong for refusing to let my mother stay with us after she sold her house without telling anyone?

My husband (34M) and I (31F) have been married for five years. We own a three-bedroom house, and we don't have kids yet. One bedroom is ours, one is my husband's home office, and the third is a guest room.

My mother (59F) has been living alone since my parents divorced about eight years ago. She owned a house that was completely paid off, so she's never really had to worry about rent or a mortgage. We've always had a decent relationship, although she has a habit of making decisions and expecting everyone else to adjust to them.

About two weeks ago, she casually mentioned during dinner that she'd sold her house. I was shocked because she'd never said anything about wanting to move. When I asked where she was planning to live, she smiled and said she'd figured she could stay with us for a while until she decided what to do next.

I honestly thought she was joking.

She wasn't.

Apparently, she'd already accepted an offer, signed the paperwork, and agreed to move out within six weeks. She assumed we'd let her use our guest bedroom because we have plenty of space and, in her words, "It's not like you're using it for anything important."

I told her she should've discussed this with us before selling her house. She got offended and said she didn't realize she needed permission from her own daughter to stay for a few months. I explained that my husband works from home, we both value our privacy, and having another person living with us indefinitely wasn't something we'd agreed to.

That's when she admitted she didn't actually have a timeline for moving out. She wants to take her time looking for a smaller place and doesn't see the point of wasting money on rent when she could stay with family for free.

My husband was pretty upset when I told him. He gets along with my mother, but he's not comfortable with her moving in, especially without being asked. We talked about it and agreed that we weren't going to let her stay with us. I offered to help her find a short-term rental or look at apartments, but she refused.

Now my aunt and older brother are involved. My brother called me selfish and said I should be grateful that our mother raised us and gave us everything she could. My aunt said it was cruel to make a 59-year-old woman pay rent when her own daughter has an empty bedroom.

I asked my brother why he couldn't take her in, and he said his apartment was too small. Apparently, that means the responsibility automatically falls on me.

My mother has barely spoken to me since. She keeps saying she never imagined her own daughter would turn her away, and that she would've done anything for me when I was younger.

I do feel guilty. She's my mother, and I love her. If she'd lost her home unexpectedly or was struggling financially, I'd probably feel very differently. But she chose to sell a perfectly good house without making any arrangements because she assumed we'd accommodate her.

My husband thinks we need to stand our ground or she'll keep making decisions like this. Part of me agrees, but another part wonders whether I'm being too harsh over something that might only last a few months.

Am I wrong for refusing to let her move in?

Am I wrong for taking my car and leaving our family trip early after catching my brother?

Everyone in my family is treating me like an unhinged villain right now, so please give me a reality check because I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

We rented a lake house for a four-day holiday weekend. I (26M) drove up in my car—a 2022 Mazda I spent the last three years working overtime to pay off. Yesterday afternoon I woke up from a nap, looked out teh second-floor window, and saw my car jerking violently down the gravel driveway. My 21-year-old brother had taken my keys off the kitchen counter and was letting his girlfriend drive it.

She doesn't even have a driver's license. She was laughing while scraping the undercarriage over ditch rocks and almost backed into a wooden fence. when I ran outside barefoot and demanded the keys, my brother rolled his eyes and told me to 'chill out, she's just practicing parking.' He didn't even apologize.

I was so furious my hands were shaking. I packed my duffel, got in my car, and drove the three hours back home. Now my parents are blowing up my phone saying I ruined the whole trip because they needed my car for groceries, and that I'm prioritizing metal over family. Am I actually wrong here? I dont know anymore.

am i wrong for telling my parent they can't drop by unannounced anymore

so this started a couple weeks ago when my parent showed up at my place without calling first. it was the third time in a month and i was in the middle of something that needed focus. i explained that i really need a heads up before visits so i can plan around them. my parent seemed fine at the time but then the rest of the family started weighing in and now everyone's saying i am making things awkward for no reason. i get that they are coming from a good place and just want to stay close, but having my time respected feels pretty important too. i have tried offering regular calls and scheduled dinners instead, yet that apparently doesn't count. the comments keep coming and honestly i am starting to second guess myself. am i wrong for putting that boundary up?

Am I wrong for having my package delivered to my friends house, while I’m dog sitting for her?

I’ve been watching my close friend’s 2 dogs for the past week. I’m staying at her house.

I ordered things from Sephora and told them to deliver it to my friend’s house, since I’ve been staying here all week.

Well the package was delayed. I texted my friend “Hey my package was package was delayed. It’s scheduled to be here when you return home, and I’ll be back home. I can pick it up whenever we’re both free.”

She said “Why would you have packages delivered to my house?”

And I said “Well, I figured since I won’t be at my apartment all week, I’d have them delivered here. I didn’t want it sitting on my front porch all week.”

I was afraid of it being swiped by porch pirates.

To which she replied “Ok. A little odd still”.

Maybe I’m wrong…but what’s so odd about that? I’ve been here all week. Why is it wrong to be delivered here?

I replied “Lol if you want, I could have them not deliver it, and just drive into the city and pick it up at the post office.” I said that like 4 or 5 hours ago. She hasn’t replied.

Is this wrong? I didn’t think it would be such a big deal…

Am I wrong for being annoyed my sister didn’t tell me about my nephews bed wetting?

I, 27f, babysit my two nephews, 4&5, every Friday afternoon - Saturday evening. They sleep in my room as there was nowhere else for them, but we now have an empty bedroom and we’re doing it up for them so they can have their own room but it won’t be done until after Christmas as money is tight. I love having my nephews every week, we have a lot of fun together and they are genuinely just the best kids in the world.

Last week my 4yo nephew wet the bed. I wasn’t annoyed or anything of course, he’s just a little kid and it was an accident while he was asleep. I cleaned him up, put fresh pjs on him, changed the bed and put one of those potty training pads on the bed I had left over from potty training him last year.

I let my sister know and she told me he’s been doing it several times a week for a few weeks now. I said to her she should have told me about that so I could’ve taken precautions. I’d stopped using the bed pad things because he’s had dry nights since the first night with no nappy (the kid practically potty trained himself!). I said to her if she can provide some more of the pads as I can’t afford to buy them (signed off work while I wait for surgery) I would really appreciate it as if this is an ongoing issue I don’t want my mattress to get ruined.

She’s now saying I’m selfish for thinking about my mattress and humiliating my nephew and making him ashamed for wetting the bed… I comforted my nephew when it happened, told him it’s ok and just cleaned everything up so I’m confused. I also had a bed wetting/bladder issues my entire childhood until I was 17/18 that I had to be medicated for, so I would never embarrass my nephew or try to make him feel bad for something he couldn’t control or even knew was happening. We did everything right, took him to the toilet before, leave the landing light on in case he needs to get to the bathroom before I’ve come to bed etc. it was just an accident. She should’ve told me it was a frequent issue surely? I’m providing regular childcare (I have them even more during school holidays and will be having them for 2 weeks in December when my sister gives birth again). My youngest sister says I shouldn’t be annoyed with her reaction as it’s probably just stress with the pregnancy but I don’t see how that justifies this reaction, so am I wrong?

Am I wrong for not wanting to co-sign on a loan?

I’m (f22) my mom (42) called me crying begging me to co-sign for a loan. I’m feeling guilty and trying to understand if I’m wrong.

Recently the transmission on her car she cannot sell the car so she has to fix it. She trades and got the money to fix it then lost it after I advised her not to continue trading and to just fix it.

I live with her while I finish college and I work, I do not currently pay money for rent. Though I’ve offered during arguments with the stipulation that I’m more of a roommate than a child (we both clean after ourselves etc.) She calls me today crying asking me to sign for a loan for her I told her no because she doesn’t even pay back the loans/ credit cards she already has. She got upset and said this is just “one thing” she’s asking me for and I can’t even do that. My thing is she’s borrowed north of 2k from me etc and she always has an excuse why she can’t /shouldn’t pay me back. I’m upset mainly bc it’s never really “one thing” she’s asking me for and then she acts like I never do anything for her until the next time she needs help.

Am I wrong for not co-signing?

Am I wrong for being genuinely disgusted by my family’s hygiene habits and getting increasingly resentful towards my mum?

I’m 18M and live at home with my family. I want some honest opinions because I genuinely don’t know whether I’m overly sensitive or whether other people would feel the same way living in my situation.

There are several things my family does that genuinely disgust me, and over time I’ve developed a lot of resentment, particularly towards my mum.

The biggest issue is our dog. My mum regularly lets him lick the plates we’ve eaten off, sometimes even letting him eat food directly off them at the dinner table. My brother also has this thing where he lets the dog lick his teeth and mouth, which I find absolutely disgusting.

I’ve repeatedly said that I don’t want the dog licking my plate, but I’m either dismissed, spoken to rudely or ignored completely. They let him do it anyway, as though my opinion doesn’t matter. I understand that plates can be washed afterwards, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to not want a dog licking something I’ve eaten off.

There’s also the way my mum expects me to interact with the dog. Whenever I get home, the dog is persistent about getting attention and licking my face, and my mum seems to get annoyed with me if I don’t make enough effort with him. I feel like I’m expected to show affection towards him on demand, even when I don’t want to.

When I’m eating, my mum also puts on a baby voice as if she’s speaking for the dog and asks me, pretending to be him, whether he can have some of my food. It irritates me enormously. I just want to eat my meal without being pestered, and the fact that this happens alongside the other things I’ve mentioned makes it even more frustrating.
But the dog isn’t the only issue.

My mum regularly leaves the bathroom door open while she’s using the toilet, including when she’s having a poo or doing a wee. I can hear her using the toilet and farting, particularly in the mornings, and I find it genuinely revolting. It’s not something I want to hear or be exposed to in my own home.

She also smokes and coughs constantly. Every morning, she has these incredibly loud coughing fits that I can hear throughout the house. Between the coughing, the farting and hearing her use the toilet with the door open, mornings have become something I actively dread. I know coughing can be a consequence of smoking and that bodily functions are normal, but the constant noise and lack of privacy make me feel incredibly uncomfortable.I

I know some of these things might sound relatively minor individually. People fart, people cough, and everyone needs to use the toilet. But it’s the combination of everything, the frequency of it and how little consideration I feel is shown for other people in the house that gets to me.

I’ve reached a point where I feel genuinely disgusted by my mum. Sometimes even thinking about her makes me feel physically sick. I realise that’s an extreme reaction, and I don’t particularly like feeling that way about my own mother, but I can’t pretend the feeling isn’t there.

What makes it worse is that when I raise concerns, particularly about the dog licking my plate, I’m dismissed rather than listened to. I feel like I have no control over my own environment, even when I’m asking for what I consider basic consideration.

I want to make it clear that I’m not expecting my family to be perfect or to behave exactly how I would. I just want some privacy, basic consideration around hygiene, the ability to eat without being pestered, and the freedom to decide whether I want the dog licking my face.

Am I being overly sensitive, or would other people also struggle with this? And, more importantly, is it normal for resentment to build up to the point where you start feeling physically disgusted by a family member?
I’m genuinely looking for honest opinions, including if people think my reaction has become disproportionate.

I booked a female therapist, but a man gave my massage and pulled my underwear down without asking.

Hey, all, I’m a 24-year-old woman and this happened today. I booked a 30-minute full body oil massage and expected a female therapist. Instead, a man came in, pulled my underwear down until my butt was exposed without asking. He didn’t touch my vagina, but I felt uncomfortable and violated. He touched my legs maybe once or twice, it felt like it was a back and butt massage, not full body. I’m not sure if I’m overreacting, but I didn’t consent to that. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Am I wrong for getting upset at my step-mom for smoking in my dead brother's room?

My step-mom has been with my dad since about a year before I was born. my dad was cheating on my birth-mom with my step-mom for about a year. I have an older brother who, he and I share the same dad. he passed away due to medical issues in 2023 at 19 years old. we live in a state where this particular substance is not legalized, but none of the immediate family members care that much and there were rules set in place.

my brother had one very strict rule, which due to his medical problems and his very stubborn nature, there was absolutely no smoking of this substance in the house. we have a sun room in the front of the house, a very nice backyard and even a garage where my step-mom would be perfectly fine smoking in. she respected his rule up until his passing.

my dad has since turned my brother's room into a home office and spends most of his time in there. sometimes, my step-mom will go sit on the couch and smoke near the open window. I have discussed my discomfort with this multiple times. i don't mind if she smokes in the rest of the house, it isn't my business and it usually doesn't stink up the place that much. but I have very strong feelings against her smoking in his room. she says "I want to spend time with my husband and hes always in here, so I am allowed to smoke in my own house wherever I please." I told her that her marriage wasn't my business and I didn't care where else she smoked, but my older brother's room was strictly off limits.

my dad doesn't care, though he said that maybe my step-mom should smoke somewhere else, she defended herself again and he didn't help me past that. since I have brought this up multiple times and gotten absolutely no communication done, I got very upset. I told her that my brother wasn't her son, that she should take her addiction somewhere else, and that she was nothing more than my father's wife. I understand those were not the best things to say and have since then apologized to her for my outburst.

I've tried to meet in the middle with her, I've talked to my dad about maybe joining her in the living room from time to time so they can talk and she can smoke, nothing. I'm really just needing to know if I am over reacting or if this should be left in the past with my brother's rule.

AIW for being disappointed that my girlfriend didn’t follow our anniversary plans?

Today was my girlfriend and I’s one-year anniversary. We had planned to go shopping together and let each other pick out our own gifts, which was something we had both agreed on. Recently, I’ve gotten into building Gundam model kits, and I had made it pretty clear that was what I wanted. I’ve never really gotten to pick out my own gift before, so I was genuinely excited about it. I also know she enjoys choosing her own gifts, which is why I thought the plan would be perfect for both of us.
To my surprise, she had already bought me a dinosaur charm for a chain that already has other charms on it. I was still grateful that she had gotten me something, and I took her to get the gifts she wanted. Afterward, I asked if we were ready to go get the model kit I had been looking forward to. She responded by saying, “Let’s call it even because I got you that charm.” I didn’t want to seem ungrateful, so I kept my thoughts to myself at first.
We ended up sitting in the parking lot in complete silence for about 30 minutes before I finally asked, “So we aren’t getting the model kit?” That started an argument because she felt like I wasn’t showing enough appreciation for the gift she had gotten me. I understand why she might have felt that way, but I genuinely was grateful for the charm. I was just disappointed because I thought we had already agreed on how we were going to exchange gifts.
For context, I had spent $150 out of the $200 in my bank account on her gifts, along with a bunch of snacks and flowers. I wasn’t expecting her to spend the same amount on me, and it wasn’t about how much money she spent. I was excited about picking out something I had wanted for a while, and I had even been telling people that my girlfriend was going to get me the model kit.
When we got home, my parents asked where the model kit was, and all I could tell them was that the store didn’t have it. The truth is that I felt embarrassed and disappointed because the plans we had made didn’t happen. I appreciate that my girlfriend thought of me and got me a gift, but I also feel like what I had been excited about didn’t really matter to her. I can understand why she thought I was being ungrateful, but I never intended to make her feel that way.
AIW for being disappointed about not getting the gift we had agreed on, even though I appreciated what she got me?

TL;DR: My girlfriend and I agreed to pick out our own gifts for our one-year anniversary, but she bought me a dinosaur charm and said we should call it even instead of getting the Gundam model kit I had been excited about. I appreciated her gift, but I felt disappointed that our original plans were ignored, and she felt I was being ungrateful. Am I the asshole for feeling this way?

EDIT: please know that this isnt about the model kit and that this isnt the first time this kind of thing has happened.

am i wrong for thinking my friend group keeps excluding my partner on purpose

so our little group has this tradition of grabbing dinner every couple of weeks and then heading out for something else. i always invite my partner, but lately it feels like every time i bring them up the plans suddenly change or people stop replying in the group chat. the last two times we ended up at a bar with only half the crew, and no one told us the rest had gone elsewhere. when i asked what happened i got the usual "oh we lost track of time" answers. it is starting to feel deliberate, like they are okay with me showing up but not okay with my partner coming along. i have tried to brush it off, but honestly it is starting to make me dread these nights instead of looking forward to them. am i reading too much into this, or should i just stop bringing it up?

Is this unreasonable of me?

To start this off, my bfs mom is currently staying with us. So there’s 2 adults in here beside me. 2 days ago I got a tooth pulled. And ever since then I haven’t been feeling good. The only thing I had in my system was, antibiotics, pain meds and mash potatoes. So naturally I went to sleep early. I woke up this morning to find the dishwasher hadn’t been unloaded. But I heard the dishwasher opening multiple times last night. I was beyond aggravated when I saw the dishwasher hadn’t been unloaded. Mind you I typically do all the cleaning and cooking. Was it unreasonable of me to think that one of them might have unloaded the dishwasher considering I wasn’t feeling good. I didn’t think I would have to ask cus when they aren’t feeling good they don’t have to ask me for anything. I just naturally do it. Am I wrong for being upset by this?

I left my ex bf bc he treated his mom like his gf

For context I had been with this guy for years my first red flag should have been that his family called him a “mamas boy” which isn’t a lie.

So when me and him first started dating he liked to take me out on dates a lot and I never asked him to constantly spend money on me I would have been fine with a simple home cooked meal and staying inside. But his mom started to say “your spending more money on your gf then you do your own mom” (mind you he comes from 2 gay moms 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩) slowly over the years he wouldn’t take me out and started treat his mom like his gf (letting her sit in the front seat, paying for her stuff, taking her out to eat while she sits next to him and I sit across from him, giving her back massages, and buying her stuff) I’m not saying he can’t spend money on his mom but it gets to a point especially when it’s stuff you do with you’re gf aka someone you planing a future with when i brought this up he said I was jealous but I was mainly confused like am I the gf or is you’re mom ???

In my mind a boy mom should never have her son treat her like she’s the gf or like she comes first even with girl moms when you’re kid hits a certain age you’re preparing them to move on find a woman/man, marry and start a family of there own but with her she just wanted to be the main prize.

We have since broke up but I think about this often bc he was slowly starting to treat me like I was just an accessory to him and all we ever did was stay home, smoke, and have sex he literally never took me out (like I said it would have been something simple like walking in a park or something I never expect a man to go out and spend a bunch of money on me) his excuse was money (I asked him to take me to Olive garden for chicken gnocchi soup 11.99 btw) but then once his mom asks to go eat somewhere he gladly says yes and pays of both of them (and she never chose cheap places I’m talking like $60+ bills plus a tip)

Was I just jealous or did I have a right to be concerned??

Am I wrong for keeping a friend around after they canceled on me last minute?

So I had plans with a friend for weeks. We were supposed to meet up and do something small, nothing huge, but I was really looking forward to it. The day before they texted and said something came up and they had to cancel. It was frustrating, and I felt kind of brushed off. I told them it was fine and we could reschedule, but honestly I was annoyed. A couple days later they apologized again and explained what happened, and it seemed pretty reasonable. Since then we've been texting like normal. I haven't brought it up again, and they haven't either. Part of me feels like maybe I should have said something more at the time, but another part of me is just relieved that we're still on good terms. I don't have a ton of close friends, so letting this slide feels easier than turning it into a bigger deal. At the same time I'm wondering if I'm being too quick to move on. Is it wrong to just keep the friendship going like nothing happened, or should I have been more direct about how it bothered me?

Am I overreacting about my husband’s drinking?🙏🏼

My husband is Canadian, and I’m from Latin America. We got married after knowing each other for about six months, and now, a year later, I’m 18 weeks pregnant.

Since moving in together, I’ve realized that he sometimes drinks quite a lot, including by himself. I’ve told him several times that it makes me uncomfortable and worries me, but we keep having the same argument.

Recently, he promised he would only drink on special occasions. He broke that promise, we argued, made up, and he promised again. Yesterday, he drank again.

He doesn’t become aggressive or violent, but I’m worried about this pattern, especially because his father and brother have struggled with alcohol in the past.

I’m far from my family, I can’t easily travel home because of my immigration situation, and I don’t have a work permit yet, so I’m financially dependent on him. Sometimes I regret having a baby so soon into our relationship, and I feel incredibly lonely.

I love my husband, but I want to feel secure in my marriage. Am I overreacting because I grew up in a family where drinking wasn’t common, or is this something I should take seriously? I’d really appreciate honest advice.

Not sure if im wrong for bringing up how we split the bill

went out with a few friends the other night and when the bill came everything was just split evenly. i ended up paying for more than what i ordered because one person had a couple of extra drinks and another got a big appetizer. i didnt want to make it awkward in the moment so i just paid and later sent a message suggesting maybe we could adjust it or at least be more mindful next time. the reply was that it was just easier to split evenly and that i was making it a bigger deal than it needed to be. i get that splitting is convenient, but it feels off when the amounts are pretty different. i wasnt asking for a full itemized breakdown, just wondering if anyone else felt the same. now it seems like im the one who made things tense and im not sure if i should have just let it go.

AITA for wanting to set boundaries

I’ll try and keep this short and simple. This post will be vague on details to protect everyone anonymity.

I (46) have been with my partner (41m) for 19 years. We have 3 children.

18 months ago we went through a particularly rough patch and separated for a short period.

My partner, let’s call him John. Has worked in the same place for 7 years. He is well liked and very good at his job and I have always been very proud of him. My biggest issue is that I don’t particularly like his choice of friends. They tend to be quite toxic, love drama and will often be very two faced. One in particularly, I’ve always had some issue with. A woman who he works with, let’s call her Claire (26f) works in the same company as him. She’s quite immature and very selfish. Previously she had an affair with a married man who turned out to be very abusive and manipulative to her. I felt some sympathy cause she genuinely was manipulated by him into an abusive relationship. But I had severe with the fact that during this, she was friends with the man’s wife whilst she was pregnant and even spent time at their house. This made me extremely wary around her and distrustful. But as she works in the same company as my partner I was cordial and polite with her.

When my partner and I were apart, it was maybe a couple months. After we decided we did very much love eachother and decided to try again. Things have been good. We got married 10 months ago.

Since we got back together though, Claire has been around a lot, amongst many other friends. My partner always said he saw her as like a little sister even said how he could never find her attractive, how she sometimes got on his nerves and they had various arguments at work. He knew I had reservations about their friendship but with the age difference and the fact they both insisted it was platonic. I had even asked them both if anything had ever happened between them or if they had a thing for eachother to which both insisted no. I let it go and have never had any reason to be uncomfortable.

We became more friendly, she helped organise my bachelorette party and even attended my wedding.
But a month ago, someone in the company told me that something had happened between them whilst we were apart. As it turned out, they had shared a drunken kiss on night out whilst we were apart.

I felt angry. Hurt and a bit betrayed. Whilst I understand we weren’t together and bid no control over what he did in the time we were apart. The fact she was apart of our shared lives since we got back together, and the fact they both told me nothing has ever happened between them. I’m
Struggling with a lot. Cause if it truly was nothing, why lie about it right?

Since then, I’ve said I’m uncomfortable with their friendship. Her history, coupled with their lie. Makes me distrustful. Would I be the Ahole if I asked him to go no contact outside of work with her? To not socialise with her? To put in strong boundaries with a woman he clearly didn’t fully see platonic.

EDIT…. I’ll also add that I’m hurt that she attended our wedding. I loved my wedding day. It was perfect. We had a small intimate wedding. We only invited a few friends and their partners. But my husband wanted to invite her too. And I now feel like my wedding day is tarnished cause I feel like it was inappropriate she was even there. She came alone.

Am I wrong for thinking my dads weird for always assuming I’m going to get pregnant?

Okay so I'm 18, and a senior in high school. I don't have my shit figured out, which I feel like no one does at 18. Whether I do things wrong, or stuff that's not that serious. My dad always brings up pregnancy, he's always assuming I'm with a boy.
I feel like the only reason why I even have as to be boy crazy was because he kinda fear mongers even liking one. Sometimes he'd bring it up over grades, or something unrelated. That I'm allegedly bound to be a bum and a mom. I think it's borderline pedo, and mainly because he was a very bad kid and got multiple women pregnant when he was under 18.

Am I wrong for correcting my friend about a movie fact in front of everyone

My friend was telling a story about a movie we all watched last weekend and said the lead actor also directed it. I knew that was not right so I just said the director was actually someone else and that the lead only acted in it. A couple of people at the table nodded but my friend looked annoyed and said it was not a big deal. I felt like I was just keeping the facts straight, not trying to embarrass anyone, but maybe I should have waited or messaged later. It has been stuck in my head since then so I am curious what others would have done in that spot.

am i wrong for still being bothered days later about the plant we agreed to split care of

a few weeks ago a friend and i decided to keep this big plant together. we had a simple plan: they would water it on their days and i would handle it on mine. pretty straightforward. lately though they've started bringing it over to their place more than we talked about, and when i mentioned it they brushed it off like it wasn't a big deal. i let it go in the moment but it's been sitting with me. i keep thinking about whether i should bring it up again or if i'm making something small into more than it needs to be. we never had any drama before so maybe i'm reading into it, but it's been a few days and it's still on my mind. am i wrong for feeling like the original agreement should still count?

Told my buddy to back off in a group chat and now the whole vibe is off

A friend of mine kept making little digs at another person we hang with and it was starting to feel uncomfortable. I figured I'd keep it low key so I just said hey maybe dial it down a bit. The person who was getting teased actually thanked me but my friend got super defensive and everyone else in the chat kind of went quiet. Now I keep second guessing whether I should have said anything at all or if I made it weird for no reason. On one hand it feels like I just didn't want the negativity to keep going but on the other I can't help wondering if speaking up escalated the tension instead of helping. Not sure if I crossed a line by getting involved or if I should have left it alone. Would love some outside thoughts on whether I overstepped.

Am I wrong for asking out a girl again after forgetting to get her number?

• Upvotes

A little context here, this may not seem like an important issue to most, but it is to me, so please respect that.

I (20M) have never been in a relationship before, on a date, or even had a first kiss. I think this is because I lack confidence and absolutely panic and forget how to talk normal when I’m nervous. I deal with extreme anxiety due to abuse I received as a child.

I recently started asking out girls because I’m turning 21 soon and I felt like the longer I went without having relationship experience the harder it would be for me to find my special person later on in life. So, I started frequently asking out girls on my college campus whenever I saw someone I found attractive. Normally, they’d say no, or just not respond to me, but there was this one girl who was really nice to me.

She gave me her phone to put my number in, which I did, then told her I would reach out to her, but since I was so nervous, I forgot to send a text to myself or get her number, so I had no way of actually contacting her. I was devastated because I felt like I missed out on someone amazing. My friends told me if she really wanted to get to know me she would’ve reached out, but I don’t know if she knew that I didn’t have her number and thought I was still gonna reach out. I also felt like she might feel bad thinking I just decided she wasn’t worth it or something. I really wanted to see her again so I could maybe explain the situation and possibly get her number.

I finally managed to see her again after about a month. I really wanted to approach her, but I hesitated because I thought it might be weird after a month, so I called up a friend and he encouraged me to go for it, explaining that I had nothing to lose.

I approached her and explained the situation, as well as asking if she was still down to hang out sometime, then she hit me with the “😬 I’m okay”. I told her it was alright and to have a nice day.

This was a stark contrast to how she was the first time, I felt like she was a little insensitive and rude and maybe she was upset that I never contacted her, despite explaining that it was accidental. She probably thought I forgot about her because I thought she wasn’t important. I don’t really know. I’m aware that I’m overthinking this like crazy, but I feel like despite not meaning to, I did something wrong by forgetting to get her number and not contacting her.

Every time I get a chance to meet someone nice and genuine I always mess it up because I get so much anxiety.
