Hi all,
I’m relocating to Abu Dhabi from Qatar for work, and my wife is looking for a teaching job there. I’d love some realistic salary expectations from people who work in the sector or have recently been through the process.
Her profile:
British teacher, Early Years
9 years teaching in Qatar
2 years teaching in the UK
Fully qualified (QTS/PGCE)
Our situation:
Family of 4 (2 kids)
My package starts at roughly AED 19,000/month all-in, so her salary and any benefits will decide how comfortable our budget is, especially for rent and school fees
Questions:
What monthly salary range should an experienced EYFS teacher with her background expect at a mid-tier vs. top-tier British school in Abu Dhabi?
Are salaries typically quoted as basic plus allowances (housing, transport, flights), or as a flat package?
Do most schools offer a child tuition discount for staff kids? How much is it usually, and is it capped at a number of children?
Is housing allowance usually paid on top of salary, or is it already included?
Any schools you’d recommend (or avoid) for good pay, stability, and a decent work culture?
Anything I should know about ADEK teacher licensing and how long it takes to get cleared?
Any real numbers or experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
