Hello everyone! ๐
JSK ๐๐ป
Iโm a 29-year-old single Gujarati guy who recently moved to Abu Dhabi. Thought Iโd give this a shot and see if I could connect with someone on here.
A little about me โ I work in Mortgages, enjoy travelling, long drives, swimming, exploring new places, and trying out good food spots. Iโd describe myself as easygoing, family-oriented, and someone who values honesty, mutual respect, and meaningful connections.
Iโd love to meet a Gujarati or Indian girl with whom I can have good conversations, share similar values, and hopefully build something meaningful over time. Iโm open to getting to know each other naturally and seeing where things go, with the intention of finding a genuine, long-term relationship if weโre compatible.
I know Reddit might be an unconventional place to meet someone, but I figured itโs worth putting myself out there rather than leaving everything to chance. ๐
If this resonates with you, feel free to drop a comment or DM me. Happy to start with a conversation and take it from there. ๐

Hello!
Any recommendations on where I can sell or trade my Nintendo Switch 2 bundle, which includes several Pokรฉmon games, in Abu Dhabi?
Iโm looking to either sell the bundle or trade it for a PS5 Disc Edition.
Are there any trusted shops or places that accept trade-ins? Iโd appreciate any recommendations.
Thank you! ๐

Hi all,
Iโm relocating to Abu Dhabi from Qatar for work, and my wife is looking for a teaching job there. Iโd love some realistic salary expectations from people who work in the sector or have recently been through the process.
Her profile:
British teacher, Early Years
9 years teaching in Qatar
2 years teaching in the UK
Fully qualified (QTS/PGCE)
Our situation:
Family of 4 (2 kids)
My package starts at roughly AED 19,000/month all-in, so her salary and any benefits will decide how comfortable our budget is, especially for rent and school fees
Questions:
What monthly salary range should an experienced EYFS teacher with her background expect at a mid-tier vs. top-tier British school in Abu Dhabi?
Are salaries typically quoted as basic plus allowances (housing, transport, flights), or as a flat package?
Do most schools offer a child tuition discount for staff kids? How much is it usually, and is it capped at a number of children?
Is housing allowance usually paid on top of salary, or is it already included?
Any schools youโd recommend (or avoid) for good pay, stability, and a decent work culture?
Anything I should know about ADEK teacher licensing and how long it takes to get cleared?
Any real numbers or experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! Iโm looking to put together a skincare and aesthetic treatment plan over the next year and would love recommendations for genuinely good clinics in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, ideally based on personal experience rather than Instagram advertising.
Iโm particularly interested in:
Botox: A really good injector who understands facial balance and achieves natural-looking results.
UltraCol: Iโve been trying to find clinics offering this treatment in the UAE but havenโt had much luck. Has anyone had it done here, and where?
Skin quality: Treatments for texture, pores, glow, hydration and overall skin quality.
Other aesthetic treatments: Anything youโve personally tried and would genuinely recommend for improving your skin and overall appearance.
Iโd especially appreciate recommendations for specific doctors or practitioners, rather than just clinic names. If youโve had treatments done yourself, Iโd love to hear about your experience, results and approximate prices.
Also interested in hearing which treatments you think are genuinely worth the money and which ones are overhyped!
Thank you!

As the weather is weathering now, I think it is time to pack our bags and do something outdoors, because too cold winter isn't comfortable either. I am 25M in MBZ City, open to all, lets plan a weekend destination or BBQ? Interested people assemble in the comments.

Hii kinda bored and friendless and looking for someone to make the most of the city with. I see a lot of events and deals around the city and don't feel like checking it out alone.
For reference, im in my mid 20s, female, plus size, south asian, and a foodie. I live in the city. Always down to do anything fun.
I'm open to everyone but i'd prefer someone close to my age.
Also no weird advances I beg

So I previously worked as a real estate agent for 10 years, started when i was still in uni, my days were full! Between uni and works Events, briefings, meetings, I was always talking to people that it would eventually drain my social battery on a daily basis, but I loved it!
2 years ago I started my own business in a different industry and social interaction dropped by like 90% as i mostly work from home.
That gradually became an issue, though im absolutely grateful im technically out of the rat race, forgot what rush hours are and being a part of the employed society.
Problem is now, I feel I've become socially awkward, I have like 2 friends, can't seem to make any new ones, been single for a year now and meeting someone new feels like mission impossible.
I tried going to networking events, realised I don't like the crowds in these things, I find it difficult to approach strangers. I'm home, either working or destroying myself if im not going to the gym, there's a lot of doom scrolling, Im tired of TV & gaming.

Hey everyone,
Iโm a university student here in Abu Dhabi, and Iโm looking to start an informal, completely non-profit AI and Technology community.
The goal is to bring together people who have a genuine passion for tech whether you are a complete hobbyist, a professional, or a vibe coder who loves building cool things with AI but doesn't necessarily have a traditional computer science background.
Since itโs a community rather than a strict university club, I want to keep it open to everyone (all ages, students, and outsiders/professionals alike).
The main idea is to host casual get-togethers and low-key workshops. Think:
Casual "co-working & coffee" sessions.
Mini-workshops on prompt engineering, building AI agents, or hacking together weekend projects.
Show-and-tell nights where people can demo what they are working on.
Iโm looking for two things from this sub:
Advice on Venues: Since we are 100% non-profit and won't be charging any fees, we need free or very student-friendly spots to meet. Has anyone hosted casual meetups at the Youth Hub or public community spaces? Any cafe recommendations that don't mind a group with laptops?
Expression of Interest: If you're based in Abu Dhabi and this sounds like something youโd want to join (either to learn, teach a mini-workshop, or just hang out with tech nerds), drop a comment or DM me!
Would love to hear any thoughts, feedback, or advice you guys have on setting this up informally here. Thanks!

Hey all!
I recently failed my road test attempt in mussafah and am trying to book a new date for my next attempt but the wait time for mussafah is brutal, does anyone here have any experience with moving their test from mussafah to yas? And can you guys also recommend any instructor who teaches on yas test route?

Recently moved to AD from Dubai and searching for soul-filling Pakistani food.
As much as I love my Indian brothers and sisters, Pakistani food hits different. Therefore, I'm not looking for desi food reccs but rather Pakistani food reccs.
Below are some of my favs that I found.
Beef Haleem from Shaista's Kitchen. Massive serving, amazing taste. 10/10
Chicken/Mutton biryani from Student Biryani. Enough for 2, solid taste. 9/10

Hey everyone!
Iโm looking for a gym partner around Shahama / Al Bahya, specifically at UAEJJ Fitness in Al Bahya, near Deerfields Mall.
Whether youโre male or female, already going to the gym or just thinking about joining, feel free to reach out! We can catch up, motivate each other, stay consistent, and work towards our fitness goals together.
Sometimes having a gym partner makes it easier to stay motivated and show up regularly. If youโre nearby and looking for someone to train with, letโs connect!
Just to be clear, Iโm straight and looking for a gym partner strictly for fitness and friendship โ nothing romantic or anything beyond that. Gender doesnโt matter; the goal is simply to train together and stay motivated.
If youโre interested or planning to join UAEJJ Fitness Al Bahya, drop a comment or send me a DM. Letโs get those workouts started!

First of all no offense to anybody and not anything wrong. I truly appreciate your focus i just wanted to say and make a request. Everytime you have parked your car and you wanna take out you car from parking please make a round of your car and make sure there is not any cat around your car specially when you are in industrial area. I'm in Al Quoz Industrial Area near Al Quoz Mall i sometime feed stray cats around the area but today when i was feeding i saw this little kitten back legs were broken and also had some injuries. I've raised complain with Dubai Municipality but as a human we can spare a few seconds for animals honestly. I appreciate and I'm thankful to everyone who is gonna read and apply this little routine. Because these cats and kittens are innocent and they don't have brains like humans but we can be human and do a little mercy on them.
Thank you all of Abu Dhabi community

Hi all,
We're an Australian family (partner and I, plus kids) seriously considering a move to Abu Dhabi for a role with a government-owned organisation. I'm not far from an offer, and I'm flying over soon for an on-site visit, so I'd like to hear from people who've done it before I walk in with rose-coloured glasses.
Life here is good. We're comfortable and settled, and yes, tax is high, but that's the deal here and I'm fine with it. This isn't an escape from anything. The role is the draw, and it's the kind that doesn't come up often.
Two things are weighing on us most.
The regional conflict. How much does it shape daily life in Abu Dhabi? Have you felt it, whether through safety, travel disruption, insurance, or the mood at work and school? How do you weigh it as a parent, and how do you talk to family back home about it?
Lifestyle differences. I'd value real experiences on:
The work week and culture inside a government-linked workplace.
Schools: how hard it is to get places, and whether the quality matches the cost.
Healthcare, housing, and what the real cost of living looks like once you factor in schooling and rent.
Making friends and building a community, especially for a partner who isn't going in with a built-in work network.
Staying tied to a work visa, and what happens if the job doesn't work out.
I'm also curious about the hard choices. If you've made this kind of move, what did you give up that you didn't see coming? What surprised you in a good way? Did you ever regret it, or nearly go home?
We're not after a sales pitch in either direction. I'd just like to hear from people who've lived it, especially other Aussies and families with kids.
Thanks in advance
