US Iran-War [Day 141]

New megathread - removed the sirens rule. Due to a clear majority of people who want to be able to discuss/share news about sirens, we will allow them - but know that these are NOT MODERATED. Please do not report siren or all clear posts, and take them with a grain of salt. Follow official accounts to get your information.

Gentle reminder Ladies and Gents, PLEASE please use the search function on the sub to ask your shipping and travel-related questions, or discuss them here.

This post and this subreddit is meant to discuss Bahrain and the current affairs of Bahrain. Please refrain from flexing your political analysis on the current state of affairs and most certainly do not post unsubstantiated news, do not post any rumors and add to the mass hysteria. Users are also urged not to speculate on what type of hostilities or defenses being used. If its X missile or drone Y does not help. You are either revealing sensitive information, or causing mass hysteria. One makes you a liability, the other makes you a negative contributor, and your comment will lead to a permanent ban as well.

Any comments that have any misinformation, tweets from armchair analysts or instagram influencers will lead to a permanent ban. Do not engage in these comments, just downvote and report. Any comments arguing or correcting the user with misinformation will be banned as well.

For security and safety reasons, any post or comment that discloses or attempts to identify the locations of Bahraini or Peninsula Shield Forces military installations, missile interception sites, or other sensitive military positions will result in a ban.

All users are urged not get into arguments. Please be civil. Do not report opinions, report violations. We have taken the decision as mods to allow low karma users to post and comment, however, this can change if we see repeated violations from users who do not read the rules before posting.

We do appreciate the effort from all users policing the sub from the spread of the governments security information, however we have received an excessive amount of reports about locations of sounds. While we don't endorse it, we are only restricting comments about defensive capabilities such as interceptors. Please try to be civil. Don’t feed the trolls, report them.

We rely heavily on reports, however let's keep the reports for:

  1. Comments with misinformation or unverified news
  2. Comments that are obviously trolling us
  3. Comments that are disrespectful
  4. Comments that violate local security instructions

Any other posts regarding the war will be removed. Please use the search function for any commonly asked questions. Lets keep the space uncluttered in the event of any serious developments.

After months of writing in my spare time, my short story "Where the Earth Falls Away" just got published on GDNLife! 🇧🇭✍️

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a piece of fiction I've been working on that was just published on the GDNLife platform. It's a short story entry for this month's literary competition.

I'm trying to gauge reader reactions from outside my usual circle of friends, and there is no better place for honest feedback than the Bahrain Reddit community.

Check it out here and let me know what you think of the twist: https://www.gdnlife.com/Home/ArticleDetail?ArticleId=76136&category=10

(If you enjoy it, hitting the like button on the GDN page would mean the world to me!)

RCSI BAHRIN 5YEAR PROGRAM - NORTH AMERICAN PLACEMENTS

• Upvotes

Are north American placements are guaranteed for North Americans during clinical years? has there been situations where people didn’t place anywhere? I’m looking at some other options as well (the Caribbean and Cyprus mostly and this is the largest deciding factor for me since I want to practice in the US)

☝️ AskBH Teaching in Bahrain - 2026

Hello! Would love to read some feedback from teachers currently teaching in Bahrain. I had a general idea prior to 2025, but school managements often change and with that work environments, expectations, and workload vary. Let me know if you feel happy, at peace, and truly fairly compensated for your work :)

Thanks in advance!

🤡 Shino? Strathclyde University (Bahrain Campus) Just Cost Me a YEAR of My Life

Post image
78 Upvotes

Earlier this year, I applied to and was accepted to the Economics and Finance Masters program at Strathclyde University in Bahrain.

So I rejected a short term internship offer abroad, as well as another masters program at a different uni, because the Strathclyde offer seemed to be "confirmed."

The program was supposed to start on September 2026, and I was super excited and grateful to be awarded a scholarship.

I was abroad at the time and had to leave my family early and RUSH to Bahrain in order to make it in time for the start of the program.

After a while of waiting in Bahrain, I personally had to go to the campus and follow up about my courses, which they had yet to provide. I was told there and then that the program was postponed nearly TWO MONTHS.

Frustrated, I waited for Strathclyde to send me ANY sort of information regarding the program and my courses, but received ZERO communication for an entire MONTH.

1 week before the program was supposed to commence they sent an email CONFIRMING my courses will begin soon.

5 days later I called them, and was brushed aside when I asked about my courses, and was vaguely told that the program was postponed AGAIN.

So I had to chase them down for any information possible and was finally told that the program was pushed to SEPTEMEBER 2027.... a whole year from now....

Ideas for uni entrepreneurship project

Hello,
im a uni student working on a project with a team totaling us 3 ppl. we are all computing majors.

Our goal is to try to come up with a product or solution that solves a genuine real world problem.
that said ofc the course doesnt expect us to do something crazy, its more about the process. But there is no process without an idea or direction so pls give some ideas.

Were open to anything, physical or digital like a physical invention, a website, an app, a SaaS.

We're looking for ideas that:

  • Solve an actual problem people face in everyday life in Bahrain (or in general).
  • Address something frustrating, inconvenient, expensive, or unnecessarily complicated.
  • Offer a practical solution that could realistically be developed by a university student team.
  • Are not just another generic app or a product that already has plenty of good alternatives.

Whatss a problem you regularly face in Bahrain that you wish someone would solve? Is there something you think could be done much better, or a product or service you feel is missing?

Give any ideas we can develop further, no need for the idea to be developed. any help with suggestions is much appreciated.

Let's start a book community: virtual & kinda casual

I'm always on the lookout for books that are life-changing:

The ones that don't just have good reviews and then fall kind of flat -

but the ones that are mind-bending and captivating.

Recently, I came across one that's just soooo good and I find myself wishing there were more people to share it with; maybe create a small community or circle where we can contemplate deeply and bounce ideas.

And then there are few more books lined up after this one that hit the same.

Here is how it might work:

  • We have a main reading circle where a book is selected or we vote between a few that are suggested
  • Anyone who wants can start their own mini circle alongside with a different book
  • We have a section for every book circle where we post thoughts and comment on posts
  • We have a section to discuss book recommendations and make reading lists
  • We have a section to cite our favourite book passages and comment on them
  • We start a book trade where we can all swap books
  • Eventually, maybe we can curate books that we loan out for cheap or sell as used/vintage ones

Every now and then, we can drop into a voice room and chat about it.

No long drives, cafe meet-ups, or forced interactions with others unless of course it's something some of us want to do at some point.

So, who's in to start a book club?

Poly or UoB for Electrical Engineering

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله و بركاته

BH national currently in poly year 2 programming I love the uni but I want to change my major to electrical engineering (for various reasons). I graduated from a private school and am strong in math and physics but I also enjoy the practical side of engineering (tinkered with arduino and did some soldering projects and it was very fun).

I am torn between staying in poly and transferring to EE here or going to UoB.

My main concern is that since poly is basically an engineering technology degree (only 2 math classes lol) I would be limited in my understanding as an engineer and limited in my career so maybe UoBs theory heavy approach (and Bsc ABET accreditation) would be better? but then again in bahrain there isnt much R&D or work that really needs all that theory.

I hope to work in Bahrain or in the Khaleej

If there any engineering students from either unis or any established engineers who could give me advice that would be much appreciated!

Has anyone from Bahrain moved to Canada through Express Entry?

Hi everyone! I’m from Bahrain and seriously considering moving to Canada through Express Entry, but honestly, I’m a bit lost on where to start.

I have a bachelor’s degree and around 2–3 years of work experience.

Has anyone here from Bahrain done it, or do you know someone who has?

I’d love to know how you did it, what documents and requirements you needed, how much it cost, how long it took, what to expect, and any tips or advice you wish you knew before starting.

Also, do you think it’s worth pursuing, and are there other ways to move to Canada that I should consider?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

YouthLinker App just launched in Bahrain!

Hey everyone! YouthLinker App has just launched, and I wanted to share it with fellow students and young people in Bahrain!

It’s an app that brings opportunities together in one place, including internships, jobs, volunteering, youth programmes, and more. You can also keep track of your applications through the app. And your study sessions, build connections with other students and even add your subjects to have a clearer picture of how to ace them.

Even more opportunities specifically for young people in Bahrain are on the way, so it’s worth checking out!

They’ve also launched a dedicated Bahrain Instagram page where you can follow local updates and upcoming opportunities: @youthlinker.bahrain

Check out the app and give the Instagram a follow if you’re interested in finding more opportunities!

☝️ AskBH Best Place For Karak Tea Pot in Bahrain?

I used to go to Naseef in Bab Al Bahrain for their karak tea pot. For 1.2 BD, you could fill your cup 3–4 times, and the place had a really nice vibe.

Ever since that branch closed, I've been paying around 3 BD at The Avenues or Seef Mall for low-quality karak and a place that doesn't feel the same.

I don't mind the price, just looking for good karak served in a pot, with a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Any suggestions?
