When characters call out the fact that having a sad or traumatic story doesn't give you the right to be a dick

Guardians of the Galaxy - Rocket Rackoon says to Drax "I don't care if it's mean. Everybody's got dead people! But it makes no excuse to letting everyone else around get killed along the way!", which he is correct

BoJack Horseman - Todd tells BoJack: "You are all the things that are wrong with you, it's not the drugs or the alcohol, or any of the things that happened in your career and childhood". While BoJack is shaped by his trauma, it's he who he keeps making awful decisions again and again, and trying to externalize it won't make things better

The architect/Wretch - Doom the dark ages revelations - a demon who helps the doom slayer escape purgatory and forges the doom slayer preator suit(also proves the doom slayer doesn’t kill anything labeled a demon)

Paarthurnax - Skyrim - Actively aids the Dragonborn in their journey

The Social Reckoning: Jeremy Strong, born in 1978, is 6 years older than his role of Mark Zuckerberg, born in 1984

The Longest Day: John Wayne, born 1907, was a decade older than Colonel Benjamin H. Vandervoort, born 1917, who he plays in the film.

Honorable Mention

Dog Day Afternoon: Al Pacino and Chris Sarandon were both a few years older than the inspirations for their characters, but John Cazale was 18 years older than the inspiration for their role.

When the pupil has to fight against their master who taught them everything. Bonus if either one turned evil instead of being mind controlled.

1. Wolf vs Owl (Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice)
2. Aile vs Giro (Megaman ZX)
3. Ruby vs Roy (Rubinite)

Edit: added bonus

Io Fleming from Gundam thunderbolt: lives completely up to the title white devil. As he tears apart this poor zeon pilot.

Kratos God of war: kratos brutalizing Poseidon.

Spoilers for both Demon Slayer and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure part 3

Rengoku offstage during the Tasha Era Secret (Demon Slayer): After every episode of Demon Slayer, there’s a little post-credits scene of the characters sharing trivia about themselves and chatting with each other. They always take place in some non-canon limbo, standing in front of a red curtain as if on a stage. In the final episode, they hear the voice of their deceased friend from offstage wishing them luck, and for the first time the camera angle changes. These little scenes are not canon interactions, and are always lighthearted, and this was genuinely startling and touching.

Dio stopping time during the opening (JJBA part 3): the entire story of this part of the anime has been about hunting down an evil bisexual vampire named Dio. When they finally find him after like 45 episodes and discover that he has the ability to stop time, Dio invades the intro, stopping time and strutting past the main character.

I love this shit! It gives me chills. It happens a lot in anime, as they tend to put a lot of effort into intros, outros, and bumpers. It always gets me.

1) Avatar.

A new Avatar movie came out, which is Aang's story, and it includes an event mentioned in bonus material from The Legend of Kora.

2) Power Rangers.

A Power Rangers anniversary? If we can't bring back Tommy Oliver, why not make him Rita Repulsa's son, or Rita Repulsa herself (even though she becomes good at one point and even allies herself with another generation of Rangers), or even Lord Zedd (even though he became human at the end of that saga).

3) Yu-Gi-Oh!

5D's was the future of Yu-Gi-Oh!, and after the game got too complicated, just like in Power Rangers, they decided to make it a multiverse to avoid chronological complications and released another movie that's literally about Kaiba and his obsession with playing cards with the Pharaoh.

Don't watch these at Sunday School

1) While a more sympathetic example than the below, Lucifer's tirle character still retains the CW bait (yes I know it's a Fox/Netflix show) crowd as he's busy solving crimes.

2) Mystery of the Kingdom of God was a 2021 Christian kids film that would've fallen into obscurity beyond fudnamentalist audiences if it wasn't for folks picking up on the Tumblr sexyman vibes of the film's devil.

3) The CEO of Hell Lucifer (or 'Lucy') is an intimidating persona also reflecting the creator's preference for women in business suits.

4) Le génie du mal ('The Spirit of Evil', sculpture on the right) was a sculpture by Guillame Geefs in 1848, meant to replace the sculpture on the left by his brother Joseph, criticised for its distracting beauty and 'unhealthy allure'. He didn't do a good job (or did a VERY good one) taking that into account.

I’m referring to scenes where two straight characters are involved in an otherwise innocuous interact that unintentionally looks/sounds like a sexually charged moment.

Wild Wild West - When Jim and Gordon try to free themselves from the magnetic collars, Jim’s clings To Gordon’s belt buckle, putting them in an awkward position

The Island - After escaping the bunker, Lincoln is able to track down his friend McCord to a bar restroom, where he confronts him for answer. McCord, however, has his pants around his ankles, and tells Lincoln they should go to a private place after he replaces his pants, which a bystander interprets as the two hooking up

Bad Boys 2 - (funny how Will Smith again) Mike’s conversation with Marcus in the TV store is interpreted by all the other shoppers as them discussing a poor experience with anal sex, even though they’re actually just discussing the case they’re working and Mike’s accidental shooting of Marcus in his rear.

Dr. Strangelove- the Dr. himself is only in like three scenes, and given that his actor is split in three during the movie, it adds up.

The Exorcist- John Exorcist is in like the very opening scene and then doesn’t reappear until things really start hitting the fan

Coco- Mama Coco is old as dirt. Nuff said.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs- he’s in like the first ten minutes and that’s about it dawg idk what more you want from me WHAT MORE CAN I OFFER YOU

Danse - Jem and the Holograms: Danse Time

After Danse injures her leg trying to ice skate during recording a music video for Jem and the Holograms to try to win a contest, Danse is deep in depression and gives up on walking after the doctor states that she may not be able to dance again for a while.

It isn't until a blind man named Cisco accidentally falls into a pool that forces Danse to get out of her wheelchair to save him and push herself to finally put effort into her physical therapy.

Vinnie Stoker - Gravedale High: Fear of Flying

After Vinnie accidentally gets struck by lightning trying to retrieve his friend Reggie's science project (a jetpack with a pair of wings that can help you fly) he's suddenly developed a fear of flying and can't fly without falling and hurting himself, the others try to help him get back into the sky but nothing seems to work.

It isn't until Reggie almost falls to his death after trying out his science project to defend Vinnie from a bully during a bet that Vinnie finally snaps out of it and flies to the rescue to save him.

Molly Washington - Horseland: Back in the Saddle Again

After Molly accidentally falls off her horse during practice and gets knocked unconscious, she keeps making excuses to avoid riding again, it isn't until Sarah's horse falls ill and collapses far away from help that Molly is forced back into the saddle to go get help.

The xray camera (Iron lung)

Brian's head(resident evil movie 2026)

1. Big Boss (Metal Gear)
2. Chris Redfield (Resident Evil)
3. Dante (Devil May Cry)

Cripple wolf- a crippled Vietnam veteran who is unaware he's a werewolf goes on a massive passenger plane dedicated to fetishes. He accidentally turns into a feral werewolf that slaughters hundreds of people and fights a superhero with the punching force of a panzer lll and turns multiple people including a baby into werewolf's, he runs people over and other shenanigans. It's a hilarious short story that's worth checking out.

Ass goblins of Auschwitz- ass goblins invade kidland a relatively peaceful planet full of kids. The MCs are conjoined twins who along with other kids are turned into slaves to make food, bicycles, cider and alot more out of dead kids. The conjoined twins are experimented on to become more monstrous in appearance. IMO this book sucks but has a bat shit insane story with the ass goblins wanting to gain childhood since they're all born adults and are jealous of the kids innocents and happiness.

1. Bayle (The Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree): entering his second phase, he grow a fresh set of red lightning wings to fly, and occasionally creates red lightning claws to swipe with, similar to Ancient Dragons.

2. Heimdall (God of War: Ragnarok): likewise, in his second phase, Heimdall creates a bifrost arm after Kratos blows up his original.

3. Ming-Hua (Avatar: Legend of Korra): born WITHOUT arms, she developed her own waterbending fighting style, but she's almost never seen without a pair of water tentacles.

I find that when animation try to tackle racism, it always a hit or miss because they tend to find reasons for bigotry but in reality bigotry is just plain ignorance and hatred. For example, in Zootopia I won’t blame prey animals for being fearful of predators since they can eat them. However, these 2 movies are the best clear examples of depicting systematic racism.

1. Who framed Roger Rabbit?- The toons are tested like a marginalized class, like Black people. Toons and humans are segregated. Toons can perform for humans in clubs but aren’t allow to be guests there, like how Black entertainers were treated in the past. Toontown was almost wiped out by Judge Doom’s plans to build highways, which had happened to many Black towns.

2. Coyote vs Acme- Acme treat cartoons like lab rats by having them test out dangerous products so so that the results can lead to better products to humans. This mirror how Black people and other marginalized people was experimented for the “progress” of the medical field.

• Ben and Richard Parker (Spider-Man): ASM #370 has a story where May thinks on her relationship with Ben, and how initially she didn't like Richard at all. In the flashback Richard is shown to be a child while Ben and May are adults, and when Richard gets married Ben is shown having a bit of grey in his hair. So while an exact age isn't given for either, it makes it clear there was a significant age gap and that's why Ben and May are much older than most uncles and aunts.
• Charlie Martin and Adriana Nassar (Lucifer): Linda Martin got pregnant at 17 and abandoned her daughter Adriana when she was born. In season 4 she gives birth to Charlie, who is about 25 years younger than his sister.
• Ultiman and Carl Kelly (Big Bang Comics): When Carl finally appears, it turns out he was in his mid teens when Chris became Ultiman. While Ultiman's exact age isn't given, since he was a NASA astronaut when he got his powers and mentions in one story that their parents were celebrating their 35th anniversary then he's likely in his early 30s and twice as old as Carl.

1. Noi from Dorohedoro

2. Josuke Higashikata from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable

3. Giorno Giovanna from JJBA: Vento Aureo

4. Medic from TF2 (dangerous with a bone saw)

1) SpongeBob and Patrick
2) DJ and chowder
3) josuke and okuyasu

Rek Rap is a demon from hell who after being rescued by Spiderman began to look up to him. Idolizing hom to the point where he adopted a symbiote and began to try to make his own Spidey persona.

Batmite is a powerful reality warping otherworldly imp who often utilizes a sillier Batman appearance due to his obsession over him. He often makes crazy scenarios and adventures with his powers to watch Batman in action for his own fanboy excitement.

Lord X is a void like demonic entity that took the form of Sonic due to his enjoyment of the franchise and character. Lord X often makes corrupted versions of Sonic games to live that fantasy of being Sonic and often dragging an unfortunate human or two with him to toy with.

Danger - a previously obscure marvel villain who became popular thanks to being in Marvel Tokon.

Ice Climbers - From a single somewhat obscure NES game who became well known thanks to their appearances in Smash Bros, affectionately referred to as "Icies"

Slash (From the horror short: 5-minute dating) a man with a deformed face who is constantly rejected because everyone finds him "ugly" but later on, it's revealed he lures his "dates" to his place, eats them, and takes their nametags

Seryu (Akame ga kill) at the surface she seems like a good-natured warrior girl with her trusted dog companion, caught in the middle of a cruel war, until you find out she's a batshit crazy woman who likes seeing others suffer and has a twisted sense of justice

Pedo island bloodbath- it's actually a surprisingly good vampire hunter book with a 17 year old girl named Clarissa who is being telepathically called by her twin sister ava, who was kidnapped when their parents were murdered by a human sex trafficking vampire when they were 7. Gabe is a 20 year old porter working for Emory Jackson, a billionaire who is running this operation but is unaware of his crimes along with most celebrities and influencers on the yacht. Sven is a journalist trying to expose Emory Jackson of his crimes. And finally a very very old van helsing who is still alive due to dracula blood running through his veins. Dracula is also in this book but he's a prisoner who is forced to watch Emory Jackson create more nascent vampires with Dracula's blood to become sex slaves to sell them to rich pedo politicians and celebrities and dracula fucking hates him for what he's done to him and the nascent vampires who he considers his children, He despises humanity partly because of this and wants to wipe them out. Also has interesting vampire lore with dracula being count Stefan of Moldavia instead of Vlad the impaler and having a hivemind type connection with nascent vampires and able to share memories due to this connection also vampires in this have a waning and blooming season with waning being their physically worse with dracula being stuck in this phase for a long time due to him being kept prisoner and barely being given enough blood to be kept alive, blooming phase being at their absolutely physical peak. Dracula also doesn't need to directly feed to regain his physical peak as when his nascent vampires started to feed on blood he was growing in strength and power slowly but surely to his original peak in his cave where he was imprisoned.

Us- one of my favorite movies with a mediocre name. Us is about a family having to deal with government created clones who are trying to kill them and replace their lives and it is revealed their neighbors were killed by their clones and these clones are all over the United States attempting to kill their real counterparts. I love this movie but the name is just not good.

They fake being kind and generous in order to take advantage of people. But in the process, they find themselves genuinely invested in their mark's well-being. And ends up becoming a genuinely better in the process.

1). Klaus:
Jesper is sent by his rich father to a far-north island. And told he will be disowned if he does not get the townsfolk there to adopt the postal service. Feigning charity, Jesper gets a local man to donate his toys to any kid that writes a letter asking for one. That way, it seems like the whole town has started using the postal service his father runs.
Jesper makes an offhand comment about only "good children" getting toys. So, the kids start doing good deeds and set off a series of events squashing the town's long-held blood feud. And Jesper ends up genuinely invested in making everyone happy.

2). Mob Psycho 100:
Reigen is a fake psychic. Soon after starting his business, he comes across a kid with genuine psychic powers. Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama is terrified of his own abilities so he leaps at the opportunity to be "mentored." Reigen calls Mob if his clients turn out to be actually haunted. He is paid sub-minimum wage for his time.
But Reigen gives Mob genuinely good advice that keeps the (potentially city-destroying) esper humble and well-adjusted. Unlike of the villains, who try to use their psychic powers to take over the world. He even admits his lies to Mob at the end of the series.

3). All Dogs Go to Heaven:
Charlie takes advantage of an orphan who can talk to different animal species. Mostly to cheat at gambling. But he ends up selflessly sacrificing himself for her.
