When WWE decided to lowball some wrestles on new contracts, many of the superstars did not take it well. Instead of taking massive cuts, wrestlers opted to leave. The biggest names gone were The New Level (Kofi and Austin Creed) and Sheamus. They have been with WWE for so long, and accomplished so much, that they seemed like WWE lifers.
Clearly, that wasn’t the case with The New Level joining AEW. That was not a surprise as matches against The Elite were something fans dreamed about for the last seven to ten years. Sheamus is keeping a low-profile, not working anywhere since exiting WWE.
Sheamus was TNA Wrestling’s first choice to face Moose at this past weekend’s Bound for Glory. The two sides couldn’t come to a number and Max Caster was then added days before the show. Of course, he was fired less than 24 hours after his debut for a controversial rap.
To me, Sheamus only has a few options out there. AEW, TNA Wrestling and somewhere in Japan. The problem with Japan is the travel and he might not be familiar with that style of wrestling. It feels like a real stretch, especially when there are better options close by. He could even work heavily in Europe, having family roots there dating back to his birth.
AEW would offer a nice salary, but the talent often gets lost in the mix. TNA Wrestling still feels like the right call. They wouldn’t offer him anything close to what WWE was paying. However, I could see him being one of the highest paid stars alongside The Hardy Boyz and Nic Nemeth. TNA is being careful to not bring in many old veterans from WWE. They are grabbing some younger talent and a few veterans, which makes sense as they move forward.
Sheamus should sign with TNA Wrestling because they have a close relationship with WWE. It might allow Sheamus to ‘cross the line’ and appear on WWE TV again, but this time as a TNA wrestler. Also, to complete this WWE Grand Slam Championship, Shamus is still short of an Intercontinental Championship reign. I want to witness that goal accomplished and if he joins TNA, then there is still hope. Otherwise, if not TNA Wrestling, I doubt Sheamus will be a WWE Grand Slam Champion.
Do you think Sheamus will eventually become WWE Grand Slam Champion? Or, will that historic moment never happen?
