I have the two DualSense touchpads mapped to the Steam Overlay and screenshots. Previously, I could toggle the overlay on and off, but now I can't turn it off using the controller, only the keyboard. Taking screenshots while the overlay is active also only works via the keyboard. Did Steam change something in an update? Is there a way to fix this, or is it a bug on their end?

I'm the developer of HoloMapper, a projection mapping application on Steam. Users operate the software from one display while projecting to another. Steam Remote Play currently streams both displays, making remote operation difficult. A monitor selection option in Remote Play would greatly improve support for professional multi-monitor workflows.
For clarification, HoloMapper is a Unity application that uses two displays:
- Display 1: Main editor and controls.
- Display 2: Fullscreen projector output.
The actual problem:
Steam Remote Play initially streams Display 1 correctly. However, as soon as the projector output is activated on Display 2, Remote Play switches to capturing both displays side-by-side in a single stream.
This causes the editor to occupy only half of the Steam Link/Steam Deck screen, with the other half wasted on the projector output.
What we need is the ability to stream Display 1 only, while Display 2 continues operating normally on the host computer.
The newer "Primary Display While Streaming" setting doesn't resolve this behavior. We need an explicit option to select which display Remote Play captures, even when an application uses multiple displays simultaneously.
They are both 2.0 Base stations but are they both the exact same or different just because of the box? My Valve index needs new base stations and idk which one to get because they both seem the same but idk.
Out of the box they both look the exact same and they’re identical lol
I had no idea what else to do lmao so I’m on Reddit lol

Can anyone explain to me why a game that has Overwhelmingly Negative reviews from big studio is being Featured & Promoted, but if a small, indie studio game ends up with Mixed Reviews it disappears forever?
Wishlists? Buyers? Playtime?
What factors it?
Edit: Thanks dear reddit users for the usual ridicule, by all means if it makes you feel better please write some more smart comments below. And while its at it, please do answer why the recommendation list doesn't list games that are Ranked 1# to 8# Top Seller in my region? or 10# to 20#? But only the crappy Shogun 2 rehash ranked 9#?
So, what ELSE factors it?
I've been using Steam for over 4 years now, but since February have noticed really random friend requests? I'm not in any forums or discussions, do make reviews on most games I play, but otherwise am not social on Steam. The only friends I have are IRL, from Discord, or randoms I played with. And for multiplayer games, the only ones I play are Helldivers 2 and Outlast Trials, so there's only one of those games I can even be added on.
Has anyone had random peoplr add them, know why this is happening, and should I just carry on with a random little notification and an ignore button every so often?
Quick Edit:
One of the others things that perplexes me and I forgot to mention: I have no steam items aside from random $0.02~ cards!
Genuinely just seems like it's pure random! 😭😆

I recently completed a game called Graveyard Shift and it is not counting towards my achievement showcases. As far as I’m aware it does not have any restrictions, like “Steam is learning about this game” or “Profile features limited.” I also own the license to the game and don’t use family sharing. I’ve tried deleting web browser data, logging out of Steam and logging back in, letting the game run for a bit again, getting achievements in other games, but none of that has worked and I’m out of ideas. I contacted Steam support and they don’t know and closed my ticket.
Anyone have any ideas?

So... I've recently ran into a lot of problems regarding game restrictions.
First of all. I understand why it's not allowed to switch regions to not abuse buying games from regions where the currency is really bad and thus getting games for abnormally cheap in a country that's fairly well of, so to speak.
What I don't understand is, why are some games completely blocked out in countries with no active game laws. For example, as someone who lives in Slovakia, whenever I try to look up AION 2, nothing shows up. Not only does nothing show up, there's absolutely no reasoning anywhere as to why the game is blocked in my country when we don't really have any game laws here and I don't see how an mmo would break anything so much so they'd have to completely block it off.
I have a friend in Turkey, whom I often play games with and I tried to get him Smallands, but apparently that game is completely blocked from his country too. No information available, no reasoning, again. From what I've heard, a lot of things are blocked in Turkey, but I don't see why an insect co-op game would be.
Both of these issues seem fairly unreasonable here. Why restrict such games completely from some people? There's similar games out there that are completely available despite their gambling aggressive mechanics and similar features, where they only warn you to play at your own risk.
So why are some games completely blocked off? And why is there no way to get to play a game like that? The only other way I'm assuming to get these games is get an actual copy of the game, cracked, and play it this way. But that's also against policy. So then, are people completely restricted from these games forever unless they move to another country? How does this make sense?

Basically what the title says. Anyone know why DLCs for Steam dont have a description in their store page? it just automatically says “This content requires the base game … on Steam in order to play.” The best reason that I could find why is so that people don’t accidentally buy the DLC without getting the game. But that seems really unlikely to be the case. The photo for Steam DLC has a big purple DLC tag in it, and either way you can’t buy the DLC without first owning the game.
Now ofc this doesn’t matter too much. If you scroll down to “about this game“ it tells you about it anyway. I’m just curious on why Steam always has this blurb on every DLC

So back in 2024 I gifted Atlyss to my girlfriend because we wanted to play it together, and I distinctly remember playing it with her briefly, but awhile back I noticed that in our steam family library, there was only one copy of the game, she should have it in her library but she says she doesn't. Is there anything that could've caused the game to be removed from her library?

I'm so recently I heard that valve made new hero shooter, and as a tf2 fan, and a fan valve in general I wanted to check it out. but it was unavailable in steam. I looked it up and apparently it's closed off to the public, so how are people playing it? And why is my feed filled with nothing but deadlock now.

Seems a little silly to me. Like, I know that Metro 2039 is suppose to be 'darker' but it's literally Hellraiser.

So, I'm looking for a website (like SteamCardExchange, Steam.Tools or an archival of sorts) which lists every single game that has default avatars / that have every single avatar.
By default game avatars, I am referring to these: https://steamcommunity.com/actions/GameAvatars/
The list above only includes games I recently played, games I own, and a random batch of games I do not own. But it does not show everything.
I'd love to have these profile pictures, and archiving them somewhere, considering the functionality for these could be removed at any point (the page I linked still uses the old Steam layout), and I was unable to find any Steam-related website that has a list of these. SteamDB, SteamCardExchange and Steam.Tools don't have them. I don't think anyone has bothered in archiving them?
I was thinking about a tool where it can check for the string "Click on any of the images below to make it your new profile avatar." in a page, if it does, then save all files which has the ending with "_full.jpg". The tool would go through all of the games AppIDs, and check whether or not that string of text is on the page. If so, it would save the _full.jpg version of an avatar to a folder with the name of the game.
Each one of the games have the URL https://steamcommunity.com/ogg/AppID/Avatar/List , where AppID is the game's ID (440 being Team Fortress 2, for example). It would be possible to make a tool to try each Steam AppID, and any results that include the string above, save the _full files locally to the user's PC. However, considering there are over 500.000 App IDs, I would end up getting rate-limited at some point.
If there is a list with every game that has default avatars, then it would be less problematic and faster, knowing that I wouldn't have to let the program guess what game IDs have them or not.
I love switching profile pictures, but for a while now I have stopped using other artist's work as profile pictures without their permission (I know a lot of people does this, but doesn't mean I should).
Currently, I only use profile pictures that comes from media screenshots, official artworks / renders, or from artists that specify that you are free to use them. Having all the profile pictures published by the game's devs/publishers on Steam would be really handy if I was in the mood for something new.
Sadly, I am no programmer expert, I wouldn't know how to write code to maximize efficiency on the idea I proposed. Unless someone else has already worked on archiving them somewhere, but I was unable to find it.
Thanks!

I have all the Trading Cards for Dota 2 as you can see and the 'Craft Badge' button is lit up, I press it literally nothing happens. I have tried clearing cache, restarting, using the browser version, always the same result. No error message, just nothing happens as if Im not clicking on anything, not like steam isn't responsive ive been using it fine but again the button just doesnt do anything. Any workarounds? thanks

Hey fellow Steamers
I’m pretty new to the Steam world and have seen several posts about refunds or credits. I recently purchased Fallout: New Vegas for $5 about a week ago (I know, late to the party) and have not played at all. Today I noticed the price dropped even further to $2.49 and also the DLCs are on sale. How do I go about a refund or credit? If it’s not possible, I understand. I just wanted some insight from OGs in this great sub!
Edit: Mods took this down but I got a refund and was able to purchase the game and DLCs for the same price. This sub is awesome! Thank you all.

This could be a pc issue too but for some reason whenever I open steam, my hz goes from a smooth 200 on desktop and my browser to then like 60 or even lower once steam is opened, and then once i minimize steam to then my browser it goes back to a normal smooth 200. I already have performance settings enabled on steam and I wouldn't say my pc is really bad like that, so I'm just a little confused. I'm gonna suspect this is a steam bug but If the issue is a pc issue how could I fix this?
