Discussion When did you last play your most played game?
Hard to believe I never even booted it up during the lockdowns. What about you?

Wow impressive a 12 year stop. What about this game had you so hooked in 2014? I’ve never heard of it
53
u/TrailScape 1d ago
Because I was 14, I had no money and it was free
Also was just a really fun first person shooter, then I broadened my horizons

A full time 40hour/week job with 0 days off for holidays, vacation, or sick days would net you 2080 hours a year. This was your full time job for more than 5 years.

Smite with 5k hours 5 years ago i deeply regret playing that game but i had so much fun playing it

u/spancor 1d ago
Why do you regret it? Just because the devs were money hungry and shot themselves in the foot doesn’t mean the time spent was wasted. Maybe wasted money, but not time!
3
u/Sea-Split-3996 22h ago
I did waste alot of money on that I should I spent those hours on games thay were actually good instead of a moba and when the devs announced smite 2 and not many skins would be carrying over I knew they just wanted milk there player base for more money. And the player base for thay game was small now its split between 2 games

This is the way! I have been enjoying Division 2. I like that the Legacy Manhunt final missions stay in the game for people who are catching up.
I'm a big lore person, so I've been watching NGN videos of seasonal story and then play legacy Manhunts to catch up on the story.
Edit: Also, 8.4k hours on Steam is wild!

What keeps you coming back?! Let me check my hours played in terraria.

u/Zelmon644 1d ago
Every time the game updates I make a new character and world to replay it. I have all the achievements so that took some time
3
u/greenberrybanana 1d ago
I haven’t progressed too far in this game unfortunately. I should give it another go.

It came out last year I think. General consensus is that it is horrible. I'm also not touching it unless they're giving it away.

Great times back during covid but now anyone who looks at my profile thinks I’m a rust guy

It really was. And to think I got basically everything in the game for very little money, plus the new dlc for free.

Hasn't Deadlock only been out for the past two years? A full time job is only ~2000 working hours a year so this is the equivalent of playing it for seven years full time.

They likely used SAM to mimic game time. Thats how the top steam profile users get their hours to ridiculous numbers. IDK why but its a huge community to see who can get the biggest number while using software to simulate playing the game but never actually playing it. If you look at some of the top steam profiles they have pretty funny hour counts for their games with some of them having played specific games 24/7 for the last 100 years if their playtime was to be believed.

u/ToxicDM 23h ago
Pardon my ignorance but how are people playing this game? I know its invite only last I heard.
3
u/Cromakoth 19h ago
It is but it's so easy to get an invite. Just join a discord and ask, it's guaranteed there will be someone who hasn't used their invites yet and doesn't care about who gets them

SWTOR a few months ago and I had 400 hours played (two year old account returning to PC gaming), I quit because the credit cap was too restrictive unless you subscribe. Have since put 400 hours into Runescape.

Over 800 hours in Isaac. Played last week and broke a -98 streak with a tainted Maggie win

Upwards of 600 hours on Factorio. I last booted it up a couple months ago. Love the game to death, but I remember why I stopped. I did NOT want to rebuild my entire Vulcanis base, but that was next on my list of things to do. I just stopped playing so that I wouldn't have to lol.

Halo MCC with 1,100 hours I think. I only started gaming like 3 years ago and along with other games that i’ve been playing I think that’s a pretty good playtime for now. I never want to uninstall it but I last played it like a week ago

I've hopped on to my three most played games this week. All at close to or over 10k hours over 20 years. Diablo 2, Guild Wars, and OSRS.

World of Warcraft and it isn't even close. I had a mod installed which collected heaps of information about all of your chatacters(stats, talent trees, inventory, equipped gear, gold, etc etc, and how much time you've spent in game since the character was created). I primarily played as Horde, but after a long while, I made some Alliance characters and spent a few hundred hours, at least, in those. But overall, and I think even on my main character(a warlock), I had over a year of played time. Perhaps even over 400 days in total? I can't remember. But definitely at least a year.
There was a lot of afk time, or time when I'd just be talking with guild mates either in game or through Ventrilo at the time. But that's easily my most played game ever.
I haven't played it since not long after my mum passed.. So maybe 7 or 8 years, but I did start back on vanilla WoW, back in 2005 or 2006. I can't remember if I went back after that point or not, I'd have to check the release dates of expansions, cos I don't have the last couple, and got the two most recent ones at the time for free when they upgraded everyone's accounts. If I did go back, it was still before covid hit.

I don't even know how. I was never into fighting games before it and still not into them after. Most probably a combination of a fresh obsession that had a very high skill ceiling that had me consumed for almost a year. The feeling of improving in fighting games is addicting, but at one point you hit a plateau and it's harder to justify the time investment.

Between 2 accounts, about 1500 hours in CS2 and I haven't played it in over 7 months aside from one login to see if I was on the Overwatch training program. (Anti Cheat)
Valve let Cheaters run rampant so I quit, was on the leaderboard in season 1 before the hacks got too common
