The r/Sheffield Classifieds - Rooms, Flats, Tickets, Buy/Sell, etc

By far the biggest thing we remove here is people trying to find or let rooms, sell tickets, and other bits and bobs.

But likely not enough to survive on its own as a dedicated sub. So we'll carve out this space here. Please use it to list anything you're interested in, or are trying to part with.

And be mindful of who you give your personal details out to! We'll not be providing escrow or verification!

Question Cleaning the windows at 5am?

I’m just been woken up at 5:30am by the sound of a vehicle outside. I looked out of my window and there’s a big platform being raised from a van. There’s a man stood on the road and another man on the platform and there’s a bunch of water dripping down onto my window from whatever they’re doing and it’s quite loud. I’m kinda furious because I’ve had about 2 hours sleep and now I can’t sleep due to this and have been woken up 😭

Does anyone have any idea wtf is going on? I googled the company and it said they’re roofing and commercial property maintenance experts and they seem to be cleaning the windows, but at 6am?! Can I make a complaint or something about this? I’m a woman and I sleep topless and I’m almost certain the guy doing it just got a glimpse of me as I went to close the curtains as they’re literally OUTSIDE MY FUCKING WINDOW AT 6am. WTF.

I’m in the UK btw and live in a block of flats.

Sheffield 29M – Anyone fancy a cinema buddy? 🎬🍿

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm 29M and looking for someone who'd be up for going to the cinema together sometime.

I enjoy watching films and thought it would be nice to meet some new people locally who share the same interest. I'm pretty easy-going, friendly and open-minded, and always enjoy getting to know new people. I don't usually have time to meet new people because of work hence this post

I'm happy to watch pretty much anything but horror, thriller, action, drama or something along those lines.

Not looking for anything in particular beyond some good company, a nice film. Age and gender don't really matter to me, just looking for someone friendly who enjoys a trip to the cinema.

Feel free to comment or drop me a message if you're interested! 😊

Question Local makers of top quality gear: who do you rate?

I'm trying to buy less and buy better, and I'd rather that money stayed local.

What local makers do you rate for things that are made properly and will last years? Knives and steel are the obvious ones, but I'm also after leather goods, shoes and boots, furniture, ceramics and outdoor kit.

Not looking for gift-shop souvenirs. I want the people who make the real thing, made to last, investment pieces. Whether it's a big name or someone working out of a unit in Kelham.

Bonus points if you've owned something of theirs for years and it's still going.

Question Where do I look for a small unit/garage in Sheffield

• Upvotes

I’m looking for a small unit/garage but there seems to be nothing online compared to other cities. Is there any estate agents gatekeeping them all that I should contact or is there genuinely just nothing going about 😆

Question Private Flu Jab for Under-2

We'll be traveling internationally for the holidays to visit family, and I would like to get my 18 month old child vaccinated for flu. I'm having a very difficult time finding somewhere that will administer it locally (can find plenty of places in/around London so I know it's possible). Does anyone have any recommendations?

Question Black helicopter flying low around High Green/Burncross. Any idea what's going off?

I've just been out with the dog and keep seeing a black helicopter circling around the High Green/Burncross area. I've checked on FlightRadar and it's not showing anything. I'm just wondering if something might have happened.

News Confronting the hoaxster who fooled The Times, Sky News… and me

Over the last 20 years, Rob Beal has had an unbelievable career.

Alongside his day job as a senior civil servant, he set up a global security firm, became an expert in airline safety, and hob-nobbed with football bigwigs.

But that's not true. He's actually Sheffield’s most prolific media hoaxster.

Event The Haunting of Hill House - November 2026

Post image
9 Upvotes

A local amdram group is extending the Spooky Season by putting on a performance of The Haunting of Hill House in November. Tickets are on sale now (and are a bargain at £8)! Should be a spooky fun night…

——

Four Strangers. A fatal invitation. Welcome to Hill House.

Cut off from the outside world and steeped in a sinister, blood-chilling reputation, Hill House has stood empty for years. Until now.

Determined to unlock the secrets of the infamous manor, scientist Dr. Montague invites three strangers to join him for a perilous experiment. Each is unacquainted, but each harbours their own secret reasons for stepping over the threshold.

What begins as a thrilling psychological exercise quickly descends into a waking nightmare. As the house unleashes logic-defying horrors, the guests’ jovial façade shatters into mounting paranoia. But when unexpected visitors arrive to recklessly provoke the spirits, they push the paranormal activity into overdrive.

Hill House has awakened. Its evil forces are hungry. And someone won't be making it out alive...

Tickets available now! Email [tickets@toads-drama.co.uk](mailto:tickets@toads-drama.co.uk)

This amateur production of The Haunting of Hill House is presented in arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Dramatists Play Service. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk

Question Bowman Drive residents how much worse is the rat run now they've messed with the Norton/Ridgeway/White Lane lights?

It especially doesn't encourage tram use as the Herdings line is jammed with all the dual carriageway cars, at least when the delay was Manor Top they just sailed by on separate tracks.

Question Yay or nay for P plates as a new driver in Sheffield?

I’ve just passed my driving test and am in the process of getting a car. A few people have advised me to get a P plate as they said people will be nicer to me on the roads, whereas others including my instructor have told me not to as it just gives people an excuse to bully you and do stupid things like overtake dangerously when you’re following the speed limit.

I imagine it depends on the area you’re driving in so do any people in Sheffield have experience using P plates? Would u say they’re a net positive ? I’m a pretty nervous driver so would definitely like more grace on the roads when I inevitably annoy someone, but if they are more harm than good I won’t be getting them

Sheffield Liquorice allsorts were invented in Sheffield, so I made a website where you can play with them

Hi everyone,

I'm a designer/developer based in Sheffield (from Barnsley) and I've had this idea for a while, I'm hoping that it brings some joy and nostalgia to people.

I've been a designer/developer for 9+ years — I designed this and built it with some AI help on the programming but nothing you see is AI-generated: the sweets are 3D models rendered live in your browser, which is why it's a bit grainy while it renders.

You can save anything as a wallpaper for free, and if anyone wants to buy a print I can send a discount code no problem. (send me a DM)

Thank you for letting me share, I hope you like it.

https://allsorts.andrew.rip

It does need a graphics enabled device so some older phones won't work, your best bet is an iPad or computer.

Sheffield Who Was "Pond Street Nora"? The Real Story of Sheffield's Most Famous Character

Thumbnail sheffieldforum.co.uk
11 Upvotes

"If you caught a bus in Sheffield city centre between the 1960s and the early 1980s, you almost certainly heard her before you saw her. A tall woman in a long mac and a white headscarf, marching through Pond Street Bus Station with a shopping bag clutched to her chest, swearing at anyone and everyone in broad Sheffield.

Generations of Sheffielders knew her as Pond Street Nora. Some called her Barmy Nora. Very few ever knew her real name, where she came from, or why she was there every day. This is her story, pieced together from census records, family testimony, a 1974 BBC documentary and decades of memories shared by Sheffield people, many of them on local history forums..."

(Plus, updates in the topic there from Nora's family to fill in the blanks that have been missing for years!)

The ChangeHallam group now holds all four officer roles at the world’s second oldest football club, which sits bottom of its league without a win all season..."

Question is UHS REALLY this bad??

Genuinely I’m at a loss with this surgery. I told them about the issues i’m dealing with and they look for one thing then say “ah sorry thats not available for you” then don’t even bother to continue searching for things or referrals to secondary care. I’ve been to them around 4-5 times for help with chronic insomnia. I haven’t slept properly in around 6 years, I have sleep for three hours or five on a good day and it’s not enough. I don’t fall asleep til 6-10am, it’s a joke and I genuinely feel the impact every single day.

My whole life is destroyed. I can’t go to uni because i’m so exhausted. I eat one meal a day because im constantly sick and throwing up from lack of sleep. I have no social life because this is causing me burnout, I can’t talk to friends or message back til months or weeks later.

They also outright refused to change my right to choose referral for adhd which also is crippling me (haven’t even had any appointment with my provider yet so apparently I should be able to get it switched).

It’s just getting so bad, I genuinely cannot live life like this. It’s so hard to put into words how bad this is for me - I am not mentally unwell, my life factually is great, I’m at a point where I am happy. I have good friends, family are somewhat sane these days, and I have the best partner. But I feel so desperate, depressed, hopeless and I feel like I have no one that will help me. I do not need mental health help, i just need this issue sorted and someone to help me as its becoming extreme.

Please if anyone has any guidance on what I should do, I’d be so grateful. I really don’t wanna be hopeless and suffer like this anymore. I just want to rest and live happily again.

Edit: does anyone have better doctor surgeries to recommend or doctors to recommend within the same surgery?
