So I applied for the new recruit class for Seattle FD. A little bit about me, I am a 33 year old Trans woman. I spent 3 years doing EMT in Mississippi, and 3 years on the New Orleans Fire Department. I moved to Texas and started doing IT in 2020 and have been doing that ever since. I thought about joining down here but I came out two years ago and I know that would not be a comfortable situation for me here. I’m planning on moving in time for recruit class if I can get in.

My question is, how is the department with trans individuals? Is the culture okay? Also, will my background with EMS and Fire help even if my certs expired?

I know that it’s been bad with the ongoing bridge work, but the last two days have seemed extra extra horrible. Both days my commute after work has taken an extra 20 to 25 minutes.

I noticed a new (at least I think it's new) drop box on the NE corner of N 62nd and Phinney Ave N and just wondering if anybody could tell me if it's real/valid? I didn't see it in the local voters pamphlet but it is listed on the WA Secretary of State website so it likely is. Any info is helpful though!

Why are these in the window on 2nd and Cherry? We looked up who would be in this building and got ahold of the King County department of Public defense to ask what was going on. The response was that they would send someone to take a look. That seems to be all that did.

The first photo is from yesterday at 5pm and the others are today at 2pm after the call. I guess they figured closing the blinds would help?

Yesterday, a friend and I walked to the waterfront by Queen Anne and noticed a line of water bottles and Caprisuns laid out on part of the walkway. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be an art piece or if someone just wants people to stay hydrated.

It felt weird to lay them out in a line instead of putting them in a bucket.
