News New Fortis BC Rebate is $4,000, for a New furnace and Heatpump. Up to $8,000 for those who qualify.

Just wanted to share that FortisBC has introduced a $4,000 rebate for eligible homeowners looking to upgrade to a dual-fuel heating system (gas furnace + heat pump), with $8,000 available for income-qualified households.

With the rising cost of everything these days, it’s a great opportunity to save on the upfront cost of a new system, with the added benefit of potentially saving on monthly energy bills too.

I’m a bit of a local HVAC nerd, so if you’re considering an upgrade, I’d be happy to chat, answer any questions, and help you figure out whether a dual-fuel system and the rebate actually make sense for your home.

Feel free to message me here or on my cell!

Ask Richmond Telus outage?

Is anyone else being affected by the Telus outage? I haven't had wifi for 3 days, and there *is* an outage alert on the Telus map, but my friend who lives nearby who also has Telus says their wifi is fine. Just making sure it's not a local router issue on my part.

Thanks!

Sorry. Just feeling nostalgic. Used to come here alot with a relative that passed away some time ago. Remember when you can order a chicken teri don for $7. The crew was great. Chinese owned but the sushi chef at the bar was Japanese had great memory of remembering customers names.

Went to sushi lovers on same area last night and it was ok. Just reminded me what this whole area used to look like. That great one supermarket next door was packed all the time.

Discussion Soo, random question. How many of you have the attendant pump when at the gas station? Do you use the full service option? Or pump your own?

Since Richmond is one of the few city’s to offer full service gas I was wondering why. Today while getting gas I realized that most people just pump their own gas. Personally I do it because I have to get out to pay with debit anyway, plus so many times I have let the attendant pump for me and they don’t put my gas cap on properly! Im curious.. how many people actually use the full service option? I guess its good because it employs people but It seems like such a waste. And I always feel so awkward trying to beat the attendant to the pump!

Discussion Can’t believe what I saw in T&T…

Saw this mom put her kid on the railing where she walked him up and down. Then she put him on the ground where he walked on that dirty fishy floor mat… ONLY TO PUT HIM BACK ON THE RAILING TO WALK AROUND SOME MORE!! 😫😫😫

I get that kids are interested in looking at the fishies, but these are shared spaces and a place to handle food…

Am I the only one who finds this unhygienic? 😫

Ask Richmond Why do Asians keep coming here?

I guess I’m referring to “East Asians” here. My family for the most part came here from Hong Kong in the 1990s for the reasons we all know. But people keep coming here.

It seems like places like Hong Kong, Taiwan, and even China, and so on are all peaceful, highly advanced, have low crime, have better and cheaper food and so many other things that seem to make them “21st century societies”, if you will.

Meanwhile here in Canada, especially the Vancouver area, there’s the cost of living, drugs and crime, racial tensions (and I’m not even necessarily talking about white people), Richmond is basically ground zero for the whole indigenous property rights issue, and there’s feud with the US going on.

So, I know why a lot of “East Asians” are already here, but why do they keep coming? Is Richmond, for example, really just that attractive?

Ask Richmond Midnight Election Signs?

Title, really, but rather amusing details. My block watch chat shared that one of our neighbours has been getting an assortment of small campaign signs plopped on their lawn late at night every other week by two guys who just... run off into the night or occasionally to a Tesla. It doesn't seem to be a specific party/candidate (apparently every party got at least one sign put down) so we're thinking maybe there's some kind of campaign agency just putting down signs for multiple campaigns across town.

Anyone seen some mysterious sign ploppers?

Ask Richmond Best affordable furniture outlets/warehouse stores in Richmond?

Hi everyone,
My wife and I are moving to Richmond soon and need to furnish most of our apartment from scratch.
We’ve looked at IKEA, but before buying everything there, I wanted to see if there are any good furniture outlets, warehouse stores, liquidation stores, or local furniture shops in Richmond that offer better value.
We’re looking for things like:
Queen bed frame
Sofa/sectional
Dining table + chairs
TV console
Coffee/side tables
Dressers/storage
Rugs and other basic apartment furniture
Our overall furniture budget is around $5,000, so we’re looking for places that are reasonably priced but still have modern, clean-looking furniture. I don’t mind clearance, floor models, overstock, or open-box furniture as long as it’s in good condition.
Richmond would be ideal, but I’m also open to Delta, South Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster or Surrey if there’s a store that’s genuinely worth the drive.
Any hidden gems you guys recommend? Especially places where you can negotiate a package price when buying several pieces at once.
Thanks!
