So after 30 years of only having garbage luck with opening packs from yugioh, pokemon and raw deal (wrestling tcg). Ive come to the conclusion to retire cause every pack after the 200th one just made me alittle more depressed than the last

Peak was ~$85 a booster box. That was fun.

Hey guys, I'm trying to find cool artworks like this one to make custom cards (giving credit to original artist, of course and only for personal use). Pinterest ain't helping me much, so if you guys have any nice artwork you feel like would look great in a pokemon card, please send it here, pokemon or treiners!

Pulled the English version from a booster and grabbed one Chinese pack from my LCS. Happy as a clam and it’s been a rough week.

Found some of the poster boxes today at DG. Ripped them with the wife and kid after dinner and my wife pulled this on her first pack. In two packs she’s opened she’s managed this and a Gengar. I think wife luck is real.

Thought this one was nice with the Autumn vibes 🍂

TLDR: Preordered lots of 30th Pokemon at GameStop, put 50% of scalper prices down, product arrived early at GameStop, they called my old out of service phone number because their system can’t be updated with new ones. They sold my preorder.

This is my PSA…though I’m sure I’m the only one just figuring it out. So I, like many long time fans (Silver was my first game), am super excited for the 30th. I, like many other people, am busy, busy enough that I can’t be camping out at 3AM in Target hoping for the chance to get product.

So while I saw GameStop had pre-orders left, at insane pricing, I was willing (foolishly) to pay for it considering that was the price for convenience. I pay more but I’m guaranteed to get 1 of each type of product (which is all I want) and can pick up without having to battle scalpers, wait in line etc. So I pre-order one of everything with GameStop and paid 50% down and I even signed up for the paid membership because I would earn the cost of it back as I was purchasing so much.

I had a membership previously and it turned out it had my old phone number that’s no longer in service. I asked should I update it and the Manager said “even if I update it our system will revert it back”. So I finished my purchase inquired about the dates, had my receipt, being happy that I’ll at least get what I pre-ordered (that is how pre-orders work…) right? WRONG!!

I was told that the 2nd wave of ETB’s for 30th dropped October 16th. Today is the 15th. I swung by today for something else and noticed they had Wave 2 on the remaining 30th products they have. So I go to purchase what I browsed for, after waiting in line forever and I asked if Wave 2 ETB’s came in and the manager who sold me the products said they did. I excitedly asked to pickup my preorder. Manager says I can’t. I’m like What do you mean can’t?? They said all Wave 2 preorder customers had been contacted and have picked them up.

What do you mean? I was never contacted! They say they call the phone number on file…which was the out of service phone number. The manager then told me that even if the product arrives early, preorder customers have 48 hours to pick it up before it gets sold and THEY would get in trouble if they don’t.

I was like how am I supposed to pickup product I’ve paid and preordered with the wrong number in the system?? I mentioned that I asked when signing up for the membership if I should update the number and the Manager was like the system would have reverted back to the original number…

So I’m in a Catch-22, I preordered and PAID money down, can’t be contacted because their system apparently doesn’t remember when something is edited. They’ll sell product the second it arrives so I can’t even pick it up on the date THEY told be to return by. So what happens if I never stopped in on a chance and asked? Do they keep my money WITHOUT providing the good or service that was paid for?? Apparently that is the case.

There’s also another name for this. FRAUD. The wrongful deception with the intent for financial gain. I preordered product, put money down, expecting that the product would be held, they sold it anyway, and if I didn’t follow up I would be none the wiser.

If the scalper prices weren’t bad enough be warned just because you put money down and preorder something at GameStop doesn’t mean you’ll actually receive the product. Obviously I canceled all my pending pre-orders with them.

I’ve been playing and collecting Pokemon cards since around 2013 though haven’t got a lot of the newer cards due to it being harder to get product.
I wanted to play in my local game store’s Pokemon Frontier League Tournament though I don’t have enough standard legal cards to make a deck that would do well so I was considering getting a battle/league pre-constructed deck to use instead that I could later upgrade if I wanted.
From the pre-constructed decks currently available, which ones would someone recommend I pick up? I don’t know much about these decks and isn’t that familiar with the current meta to know which one would be worth it to get.

I am in my late 30s and used to collect pokemon cards with my younger brother back with the original and team rocket packs. We had a pretty damn big collection which eventually got sold out from under us (raging..).

I havent touched them since. I now have a 5 year old son who has started gaining an interest in Pokémon and it was my dream to help him collect cards if he wanted to. He's not quite there yet but I recently bought 3x pitch black boosters and dammit now I am hooked again!

Im honestly feeling a little overwhelmed about how big this is now, the amount of different sets etc.

Can I please have some advice on how to get started, any tips you can offer etc.

I wanna boost my dopamine without going stupid lol
