Made a girl laugh

• Upvotes

I randomly approached a girl and asked what she liked to do in her free time and she told me she played the guitar and so I leaned closely and said "If there's one thing i know about guitarists is they will string you along"

She chuckled.

I've been a bit homebound lately and am wanting to meet some more interesting people. Been wondering what's on offer in the local area that might be worth trying

Queer dude, 20s, that sorta thing. I ain't the richest but I can manage. Big thing is just finding people, wanting to expand my social circles

New poster children’s charities - soft toys

Anyone know of any children’s charities etc that would take second hand soft toys? I’ve got a few bags of Kenji toys in perfect condition. Most Xmas drives/ charities i’ve seen online only want brand new items.

I’ll end up dropping them off at a charity shop in town if I don’t find anywhere, but I’d like to take them somewhere they’d be more appreciated if possible.

Also a quick shout out to the charity Smart Works, I’m dropping some interview-style clothes off there - they help unemployed women find work! If you have any second hand shirts/ shoes/ bags/ coats, they would gladly take them.

New poster Any tilers in Newcastle looking for a helper who wants to learn the trade?

Hi everyone, I’m 30yo looking to change careers and get into a trade, ideally tiling, although I’d also be interested in learning bricklaying.
I’m originally from Lithuania and have lived in Newcastle for the past 10 years. I speak fluent English and Lithuanian and have a valid DBS check.
I’ve worked since I was 16, starting on potato and corn farms, then spending a year with a construction company in Lithuania, mainly helping with preparation for deep drilled foundations. I also have plenty of hands-on painting and decorating experience, including filling cracks, preparing surfaces, priming and getting a proper finish.
At the moment I work in e-commerce for a charity, alongside experience running my own eBay business. But I really enjoy practical work and want to build a career where I can learn a proper trade and take pride in what I’ve made.
To be upfront, I’m a beginner at tiling. I’m looking for someone experienced who could use a helper and would be willing to teach me as we go. I’m happy to start with the basics: carrying materials, mixing, cleaning up, preparation and whatever else helps the job along. I’m used to physical work, enjoy DIY and care about getting the details right.
If you’re a tiler or bricklayer looking for an extra pair of hands, or you know someone who might be, I’d really appreciate a message. Happy to meet for a chat and discuss a trial day.
Thanks, Gabe.

New poster Parking for the weekend

I am going to Newcastle Friday - Sunday. Staying on Quayside. Looking for best options for parking. It looks like you can park at Metrocentre park and ride for free but I cant find anywhere if its ok to leave the car overnight. Other options seems to be Heworth Long Stay. Does anyone know which option is best or if there is anything else?

New poster Bus woes with debit card

Hi, please help -

I don't use the buses loads but when I do i always screw up the pay by debit card bit. What you supposed to do? Put it down immediately? Sometimes I'm told to hold on. Do I wait until the driver looks at you like your an idiot then you put it down?

No matter what I do I seem to make this harder than it should be. I reckon 1 in 3 times I get an error in the terminal thing

Posting here in case northeast buses are weird or something!

New poster Could anyone recommend anywhere that would hire out a self drive car transporter or similar?

I need to move a classic 1998 Mitsubishi FTO from Brentwood to Newcastle. I'd prefer to drive the van myself idealy as it might take a few hours to get the car out and i dont want to have to rely on others if i can help it. Shipley prices have been almost as much as I'll be paying for the car itself.

Thanks in advance for any help 🤞

New poster Groceries

Hello everyone!

I am an international student who started uni 3 weeks back and I have found Morrisons and Sainsbury to be closer to me. I see that people recommend Aldi/Lidl over these as they are cheaper. Are there any stores that are not these popular ones but have things of good quality and also cheaper?? I visited longbenton once and there was one which had 2-3 things cheaper than aldi and lidl as well. I have memberships for all the stores and so I get the member prices but just wanted to know if there are some that aren't as popular and have things for a good price too. I am vegan so I wouldn't be needing non-vegetarian options.

Thanks in advance!!

New poster Screen-Free Board Game Night?

Hello Geordies of Reddit!

I know a lot of people find it difficult to meet people offline and to find an excuse to switch off from the online world for a bit. So me and a few friends are hosting a Screen-free board game night, October 22nd, at The Lost Wanderer Inn.

It'll run from 6pm till roughly 9pm and is free entry. All you need to do is turn up, switch off (or at least put away) your devices, and be present in the moment for a few hours.

We're hoping to turn it into a monthly event, possibly switching it up doing things like crafts or walking tours of the city.

Here's a link to "book on" - Its not required, but helps us get an idea of numbers.

Blakelaw has had it's bus services cut by Stagecoach. Stagecoach have said it's due to the amount of antisocial behavior from young people in the area.

Moved to Sandyford / Jesmond a year ago (from Northumberland) and am wanting to get into better shape. Any running clubs that run on a weekly basis around Sandyford / Jesmond?

I'm 24 and ideally would like I'd love to meet some new people of a similarish age

Thanks!

What a wild moment to be a part of and take my camera down to.

Life was simpler… Bruno was on the wind up, Howe was in charge, Isak hadn’t outed himself as a rat.

Will never forget this day!
