We normally do not bring politics into our sport but extraordinary events require extraordinary actions. Someday enjoyment of life, like motorcycles, will return to the Ukraine. They need our help now and I encourage everyone to checkout the ways to help or donate over at /r/Ukraine

i decided to work from home today because i was afraid to ride through a relatively dangerous mountain pass (the cajon pass in so cal) experiencing 40mph sustained winds with up to 70mph crosswind gusts.
Most people i see on bikes through this mountain pass seem a lot braver than me, and i bet they are out there today. But i (50 year old on a suzuki gsx 8T) chickened out. We lose riders all the time there.
Now i feel like such a loser.
Is 40mph with gusts to 70mph thaaaaaaat bad?

Not sure if it's new or not as I usually use maps. Not sure what it uses for calcs, but it's faster than the car setting.

Im not sure if its just me, But i always prefer riding with my visor open 90% of the time. Is there any benefit apart from not getting wind in your eyes and other bits of gravel or debris from the road. I have always felt that visors can also hinder the view and i have better view/control with my visor up.~
Edit: Crazy how this has been downvoted for a simple question and discussion 😂😂

Howdy, title kind of explains itself. I've never owned a motorcycle and have been really wanting to get one come next summer. I really want a chopper because I find them really cool and stylish but a lot of research has told me that most people find them to be bad ideas for beginners. Not to sound like a snotty stuck up, full of himself kind of guy but I want a bike that other guys will love, and maybe even some ladies might turn their heads at (I know bikes aren't really chick magnets but you get the gist) I was looking at the Honda Rebel 500 and have watched some videos on them and they seem cool, but its something about the shape of the bike that throws me off a bit.
I'm looking to stay at 700cc and below. And I'm thinking my price range might be between 2-5k realistically. I know this post doesn't help much but I would really appreciate some suggestions, thanks guys.
Edit: I also don't mind if they are cruiser or sports or what have you. Throw them all at me!

Went in to look at Harleys out of curiosity. Was looking at one of their bikes when this old guy walks over to me and laughs and says: be careful that motorcycle is heavy, might be more than you're use to.
He walks away laughing.....
I ride a Honda Gold Wing Gl1800, I think I'll be okay on a little Harley Davidson.

So this is a fun one. On October 10th night, I was out riding when I felt some drag in the back tire, and then something slapped my leg. I pulled over at the next light and found the left rear end of the bike completely gone, i,e the cowl, cover, lights, and fender. The plate bracket and turn signal bracket were bent too, and that bracket is .15 inch steel, so this wasn’t a light tap.
When I got home, I checked my Insta360 footage and saw sparks coming out of the back. There was no car behind me and nothing on the road. My best guess is a piece of trim came loose (no idea how on a brand new bike with under 1,000 miles), got caught in the rear wheel, and dragged the whole back end down into the wheel. That’s the drag I felt. The trim under the seat was also getting pulled back, hence the something sharp slapping my leg.
On Sunday the 11th, somehow a Honda dealer near me was open. I found a parts catalog online, got the part numbers, and ordered over the phone. They said everything would be in within 7 days, and since it's a special order, I paid over the phone. Great.
Today I called back for an update, and the story changed. Some parts moved, ranging from late October to mid-November. The rear fender is on back order with no delivery date at all, and that’s the big one since it’s a quarter of the rear end that’s missing.
So the bike is completely down, and I’m stuck commuting in cars during 5 pm traffic, which is miserable. I’m trying to get it back on the road as fast as possible.
Has anyone dealt with this before? is there anything I should ask the dealer to check on? I saw online that the Honda customer service line might help, but the dealer said they don't see any Honda inventory at the main warehouse. Any help appreciated.
Also, I'm ordering parts and working on it myself. It's my first time doing something this major on a bike, but I have " built" some track day cars in the past, so I think I should be able to pull this off. Maybe having a service order through the dealer will get the part faster?

My friend helped me bleed my brakes today, he put the cap on the front brake reservoir but forgot to screw it down. I rode it for 5 minutes to the gas station and noticed a small amount of brake fluid spilled out but the fluid level is still full in the reservoir. Luckily someone at the gas station handed me a screwdriver and I screwed it back down but I noticed a small air bubble thru the glass hole in the reservoir. Is that an issue? Do I need to bleed the brakes again? Brakes doesn’t feel spongy and brake fluid level still full. What should I do?

This morning, as I was heading out to lunch, I stopped at a light since there was a lot of traffic and there wasn't enough space for me to cross the gap without bothering the cars coming from the side when their light would be green. The gentleman behind me had the opposite idea and floored his Mercedes and rammed me, throwing me over the bars, and I found myself on the floor... luckily, a lot of people were quick to aid, kept me on the floor (because my stubborn ass wanted to get up to check my bike), and called for help.
The police and ambulance came; they were super nice and checked me, and I have nothing broken, thanks to ATGATT, and they had my bike on its way to Ducati Geneva (probably needs a new subframe), but I am super sore and was wondering if you have any tips for me... Tomorrow, I have a physical therapy session for my knee and was wondering if I still should go, despite being very sore.
I also needed to share my story... I hope that is ok.

*TL;DR- Are there any aftermarket CVT brands KNOWN for making quality belts similar to OEM but with the name brand price increase? Is there a site like Rockauto but for scooter parts where you can choose your quality and it's priced accordingly but still not OEM name?*
I found a site that is says they sell OEM '21 Kymco Agility 50 belts for my scooter. They are like $80 (before S&H). I see generic aftermarket for my scooter cost around half that or Kevlar closer to ~$120 range.
Can you buy great aftermarket belts and save a bunch? Is there the "Icon tools" version of "SnapOn" in CVT belts?
If not then it is what it is I'll pay the OEM price if it is a lot better.
P.S. Is there a site like Rockauto (USA distribution hubs) for scooters? Where you can choose the quality but it's typically cheaper than manufacturer direct OEM?
Thanks for all the help guys! So many questions for my new (healthy 🤣) obsession.

I started a bike rental company recently so I’ve had my fair share of tow calls. Let me tell you, everytime I’ve gotten a tow there’s oil on the bed. Luckily I’ve seen it everytime, but the tow drivers won’t say anything. Sometimes if you tell them they put sand on the bed which is helpful. But nothing is slippier than oil on metal so just be careful.

I am planning to take a long ride with my Honda Shadow 2010. It gets about 70 miles on a tank. I want to get a spare can with a locking mounting, just to avoid the chance of running out.
Do you have experience with mounting portable tank with locking mounting?
Where should I put it? What kind of tank do you recommend?
