WhichBike Can I carry 24" bike in Toyota Prius?

• Upvotes

I have a (2024) Toyota Prius and wanted to get a bike. Can I carry a 24" bike in the back by folding the seat and without removing the wheels? Or should I get a 20" bike? The bike is for 9 year old. I am open to suggestions. ❤️

Edited: Without removing the wheels.

WhichBike DH Bike Options

Following on from my recent question about DH vs enduro - the responses on both sides were really valuable and I appreciate everyone taking the time to add their thoughts.

I'm committed to a DH bike and have been looking at used options. I'm now looking for thoughts on these. You can leave aside brakes, tyres and coil sizes as they will be upgraded if required. All bikes are in the correct size and if there is travel to collect it's only a time cost, not fuel (work pays). For context, an hours drive each way is negligible for me. My riding weight is approx 120-125kg in gear.

- 2024 Giant Glory - upgraded with Factory forks and shock, and Maven Ultimates Priced high but likely heavily negotiable. Requires a 7-8hr round trip.

- 2023 Zerode G3 - I love the look of this and would be keen to try a gearbox bike but Pinion rates the gearbox to max 110kg rider weight and have referred me to Zerode to clarify, waiting for their response. Requires interstate shipping although seller has strong reputation and has been helpful so far. Would likely require Paypal buyer protection and price is already on upper end.

- 2024 Canyon Sender Underdog - very good condition, local and very well priced.

- 2022 Scott Gambler 910 - very good condition, next suburb over and very well priced.

- 2025 Propain Rage DH - exceptional build and condition. Approx 2hr round trip. By far the most expensive option and above budget, but my lawd it is beautiful. Some of the reviews have mentioned shorter chainstays.

- 2025 Commencal Supreme v5 - very good condition. Price on the higher end and minimally negotiable. Requires 8hr round trip.

As I mentioned in my previous post I'm mainly after something for high speed ploughing through rock gardens/tech and less about big gaps and drops.

Thankyou in advance for your advice!

Discussion Intense bikes, what are they about?

Does anyone know this company? I just found out about them from a friend who was riding one. I’m wondering how their e-bike the “tazer” performs. Anyone have long term experience with one?

Discussion SAG Adjusting Help

Hey guys, gravel cyclist here who has always ridden his dad's bikes. Decided to invest in my own mtb and I am painfully confused on how to adjust my SAG. Do you guys have any tips, tricks, good online guides, or youtube videos y'all trust?

About my rig: Santa Cruz Bronson v4 (160/150 with fox factory series float 36 fork and a rockshocks super deluxe ultimate rear.

Bike feels really sluggish and from what I've read about the bike, it should be pedaling a lot better than this on big days. So the SAG must be the culprit..

Thanks!

EDIT: I’m a dumbass!

Anyone ever use these? My wife has Raynaud's and her hands get very cold. With winter approaching (Cincinnati) I want something that's gonna help her not be miserable on her bike. These would probably help, but I don't want to spend $235 if they don't work or are going to break easily.

Open to other suggestions as well.

Discussion Hike-A-Bike Training

I signed up for Vapor Trail, and I'm expecting a lot of hike-a-bike. One way to train this, of course, is to go hike my bike. With winter coming up, I'm sure I'll get to hike a bike my fat bike a bit, but probably not enough.

I suppose the best bet for replicating this is pushing a weighted sled in the gym, but is there anything else I can do? Something that I can maybe do for extended periods of time. Best I can think of is the Jacob's Ladder machine, but aside from just holding myself up there's not really any pushing there.

Thoughts?

I always seem to have to spin the cranks out near the end and can’t hold it up. Am I just not committing to holding it high enough in the balance point?

I like the concept, its super affordable unlike other telemetry systems. But I was unable to find any independent info on this.

Thanks!

Groupsets Restoring a early 2000's hardtail

I'm currently restoring an old 2000's 26" hardtail. I've managed to do it on a really tight budget as it's the first MTB I bought. Ive already serviced the forks, painted it, bearings all round and the rest. The thing I'm stuck on is the crankset. I have a new SRAM dub BB I've already installed. I am wanting a 165mm crankset non boost. Apart from SRAM and truvativ is there anyone else out there who makes cranks for these BB or should I just bin it and go with a Shimano setup? I'm trying to do it as cheap as possible, I won't be riding it much but it's the nostalgia feel of having it.

Discussion Upgrades that are worth it for this bike?

I recently got this Specialized Status 2 170 DH, mainly because of the cost-benefit out of the box.

Now I started saving for the next mtb that fills the gap this one can't deliver and complement what I already have in this bike. No complains about what I expected from this bike, I like jump lines rather than gnarly techs and this thing is just a beast for it. But also like to explore tech trails and yeah I feel I need another mtb.

That said, I'm wondering which upgrades I should look for this Status 2 (if there is any that worth it), since I'm keeping this bike.

So far the only thing I don't like is the handlebar, which I'm definitely doing some adjustments.. I'm 177cm and this is a S3, 800mm is too wide for me, put my arms in an uncomfortable angle that I feel my weight somehow unbalanced. I was considering just trim my handlebar to 740mm, but after some runs at Whistler, I must say the pump arm is bothering after a non-stop long run.

So.. so far I'm considering a OneUp handlebar carbon 740mm.

Anything else that worth it? Your thoughts, please

For all non-dutch folk, in the video I ask my son if he thinks he can handle it and he responds with "sure" followed by just sending it as far as a kid can send it.

Couldn't be prouder😁😁

WhichBike Looking for a good wheelie/street bike under $2,000 AUD

Hey guys, I’m looking to buy a new bike mainly for doing wheelies and street riding, and I need some recommendations.

I was thinking about getting a COMMENCAL META HT AM RIDE DIRT and putting Maxxis Hookworm tyres, a Mafia seat and a few other modifications on it to make it more suited for wheelies.

My budget is $2,000 AUD max, and I’m looking for a brand-new bike.

Would the COMMENCAL be a good choice for what I want to do, or are there better bikes for the money? I’m open to any brand or model, not just COMMENCAL.

I’d appreciate any recommendations or advice on what bike would be best for wheelies and street riding. Thanks!

WhichBike Upgrade or sell?

I bought a used norco fluid ht 2 (https://www.norco.com/bike-archives/2020/fluid-ht-2/?srsltid=AU7gw4UNo7aBuyI932N99cMg1oP7bCVctoG-v5lS4WDec2AyYFWMMHa-) a while back, and I am unsure as to replace components or to sell the bike and buy a new (used) bike.

The rear cassette shattered while on holiday in the summer, so I have replaced this and I am looking to replace the rest of the drivetrain to avoid wearing out the new cassette with an old chain. At some point I would also like to upgrade the forks, as I would like something a bit more responsive.

However, I am not sure if it would just be better to sell the bike before next summer as-is, and reinvest the money from the sale in a new bike. I am fairly new to the sport, and have a fairly limited budget at the moment.

Edit: for context, I have had lots of problems with shifting since buying the bike, and I believe replacing the drivetrain would improve this. there is also fairly bad shark-toothing on the derailleur cog and crank teeth.

Video Technique Critique

First time hitting Cupcake at Snowshoe (second rider). I landed just slightly front heavy and for the briefest moment the front wheel felt like it was going to get squirrelly. Anything I need to adjust with my technique here? I’ve also been playing with different suspension settings and it’s possible I’ve gone too soft in the front. I didn’t bottom out here, but you can see I definitely use most of my travel on a relatively smooth drop. I hit it several times after this and for the most part they went better. It’s also possible I’m just overthinking this. What‘s everyone’s thoughts.

I promise this is intended as a genuine question and not just a humble brag. (But also kind of a humble brag. It’s taken me 2 full seasons to work up the nerve to hit this and I finally got it done on closing weekend)

Discussion 5.10 Hellcat Sole Delaminating at the toes

I have a bunch of 5.10 shoes including the old Hellcats, but the newer Hellcat I just noticed has completely different sole construction where the sole is like a cap and it is very thin at the toes and started delaminating until it started flopping. I cleaned as best as I could and used Kövulfix to rebond it, but the shoe is practically new in terms of wears. The old one I've been riding for like 4 years and they held up way better, but the sole has completely different construction.

Has anyone else had delamination and had good results from rebonding or finding any type of resolers?
