Haaland/Alvarez dual auto card /10 from the Manchester City Forever Topps set up for auction
Just wanted to post this here for any City fans that would be interested in owning this card. I hope this isn't against the rules! https://www.fanaticscollect.com/weekly/972377d6-b6d9-11f1-b1eb-0a58a9feac02/2023-topps-manchester-city-forever-dual-blue-erling-haaland-julian-alvarez-auto-10

Remember all the Shareholder Loan shenanigans just a couple years ago?
- PSR / Legal Controversy: Manchester City challenged the Premier League over these "shareholder loans," arguing that excluding them from Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) gave clubs like Arsenal (£259M–£324M), Brighton, and Everton an unfair advantage.
- The Ruling: A landmark tribunal agreed that shareholder loans should be subject to fair market interest under Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules. However, the Premier League ruled that new commercial interest requirements will only apply to loans issued after the rule changes, sparing Arsenal from an immediate financial hit on their existing balance.
Every team tries to find loopholes, we found one with the Abu Dhabi grant money to sponsors which then go to us. Only for a hacked email which we don't know the full context of to expose insinuate that actually the money came straight from point B not point A. Are the owners that dumb to skip a step in this "loophole"? in my opinion they are not. This holier-than-thou attitude is disgraceful, especially from the other big clubs who we gained no real advantage over. (I do feel sorry for the likes of Villa, Newcastle etc.)

The winds are shifting
If you pop over to the daily discussions over on r/soccer, there's a lot more nuanced discussions incoming about the charges and FFP rather than just the usual "durr Citeh bad, Citeh evil, relegate dem, follow da rules, we so pure for picking a different club to support durr" discourse over the past few weeks. Folks are starting to point out that the current rules are definitely in favor of the existing top 4 clubs and theres objectively no chance any of the other clubs would be able to win the title ever. Ofcourse they still want City held accountable for the breaches, but they do understand the need to change the existing laws. This is something I believe will grow into all discussions, online, offline and by the media because its been so bloody obvious for 2 decades now.
In my opinion, City did bend the rules for sure. Its obvious the amount of money that came through wasn't organic and definitely has some dodgy accounting. But I also do believe City did the dodgy stuff within the confines of whats technically allowed and thats what they're going to be going with in the appeal. The rules are there for a reason but it also dictates whats allowed and not, so if City did use loopholes, its allowed regardless of what rival fans and pundits have to say about it. Its also a stark evidence of why the rules need to be changed. Everybody deserves an equal shot at the top and your historical achievements shouldn't be the only criteria.

Anybody going to Everton away got two extra away section tickets?
My dad and I will be visiting from the states and of course want to see our first city game live. We’re currently looking at sections right next to the away fans but don’t wanna be those dickheads celebrating too much. If anyone has extra tickets shoot me a dm and we can negotiate. Also I don’t think the Everton fans will be too bad considering they got knicked w the same thing a couple years back.

Mark Goldbridge on FFP Rules
Apologies if it’s been posted before but I just think that this is such a good summary of why FFP is bad and hearing Goldbridge of all people say it leaves little room for argument.
I just can’t stand all the rival fans talking about how unfair City’s advantage was when it is literally making the league more fair if anything.
Haaland vs Norwegian Air Shuttle lawsuit - is also suing over lotus pose
Erling Haaland has sued Norwegian over a few social media posts from the World Cup campaign.
Most people have seen the «plane-with-ponytail» post.
Another post that apparently triggered part of the lawsuit is this one from Norwegian:
A boy sitting on the pitch in lotus position, wearing a Norway jersey, with the text:
“Noen andre som gleder seg til kamp i natt? 😮 ⚽”
“Heia Norge 🇳🇴”
Translation: “Anyone else looking forward to the match tonight?”
Using someone’s likeness without permission is one thing, but can you actually trademark sitting in lotus position? Even Buddha did it.

The current state of hysteria
I don’t recall a day both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher were crying together. Each time City scored, their voice choked. Peter Drury lost his mojo. All they could talk about was whether these goals would matter. On the states side, Tim Howard got offended by the smiles of our players, staff, and fans. Reddit is in total meltdown.
I knew football is a tribal affair, but the degree of hatred and animosity from all sides is unimaginable. Not a single media outlet or commentator is asking the critical questions, “What was the original intention behind FFP? How come they didn’t worry when certain owners took £1b+ loan against the club?”

When do you think the “big” 6 will organize a boycott of our games
In our current form we seem to be miles above the league and we already beat mid tier and relegation fighter teams like man united and Liverpool. My question is when do you think they’ll see us as too much and poised to win the league so they’ll do anything to stop us. I predict it’ll be if we keep winning games and after our game against Arsenal and we win. That’s when they’ll try to organize it and frame it as trying to “save” the integrity of the league. Yes the photos are relevant.

Tier 1 Manchester City and the Champions League? It’s complicated
Manchester City have a complicated relationship with the Champions League.
They were banned from it in 2020, reinstated later that year and then won it in 2023.
There is no love lost between the club, its fans and UEFA, yet the money and prestige is valuable to City.
Sam Lee analyses how important the competition is to them — and how they would be impacted if sanctions mean qualification is impossible in future seasons.

Nostalgic XI following the ultimate penalty
Come on. Let's have some fun in these uncertain times.
If City were to be relegated to the lowest possible tier for next season, who from your time watching the club would defo still put a shift in once a week if asked?
For me:
GK: David James (could use a few quid, I hear)
RB: Sun Jihai (of course)
LB: Michael Tarnat (free kicks)
CB: Big Meeks (bantz)
CB: Lescott (mostly to banter with Big Meeks)
CDM: Nigel de Jong (already happy taking oil money on Qatar TV, easy signing)
CM: Stephen Ireland (76th grandmother just died, so might finally be back in the right headspace)
CM: Georgi Kinkladze (obviously still a massive fan)
LW: Kiki Musampa (on loan, obviously, can't afford him)
RW: SWP (always finds his way home eventually)
ST: Paul Dickov (no VAR, stick him on the keeper at corners)

Apparently, everything is City’s fault
City beat Liverpool yesterday, and instead of simply accepting the defeat, the conversation is already shifting back to accusations against us.
It’s funny how Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United fans seem to blame City’s spending for everything that has gone wrong at their clubs over the years.
Bad transfers, poor management, wasted millions, inconsistent performances and missed opportunities somehow, City are responsible for all of it.
You can criticise City’s ownership and question the financial rules, but that doesn’t excuse the mistakes other clubs have made themselves.
At some point, you have to stop blaming City and start holding your own club accountable.
