Image Just learned the word " Cromulent " Linus use was created by The Simpsons writer David X. Cohen in 1996
English is not my first language, so sometimes I pick up words from videos I watch and I don't know why the word " cromulent " stuck with me, I found it kinda funny because of Linus use it sometimes when talking about product. So I went and check the equivalent in my language and I found out the word was actually created by one of the Simpsons writer David Cohen for the episode Lisa the Iconoclast in 1996.
The more you know !

Tech Question Anyone know how to get a Firewire 400 PCIE card working on Windows 11?
So I got this Via firewire card from amazon that said it was plug and play with windows but ive been having issues when I try to plug my iPod into it. It shows up as a removable device but whenever I click it it just freezes file explorer and the iPod and it only starts working when I unplug the iPod. I tried using legacy windows 7 drivers but that didn’t work. Anyone got any ideas?

WAN Show Thank you WAN Show, for saving me from insanity
One of the things I have always liked about WAN show is the intensity of the stress testing that is discussed, even on consumer hardware. For the last month, Gemini has been forced onto my phone. It presented a unique set of issues that I was unable to solve. Google customer service was unhelpful, as was their documentation, and their AI agent itself. Until today, when listening to WAN, Linus mentioned that for those who daily drive a Google workspace account, certain aspects of Gemini do not work on android. I am also in the unique circumstance as a business owner. Sure enough, Gemini is unable to make phone calls, send messages, and a variety of other tasks. If you are on a Google workspace account, you can add calendar events, and send emails.
Having been a developer on both android and iOS for ages, I was well aware of the pros and cons of each. Google finally broke the camels back, and now my work and personal numbers are both on iOS, with AirMessage allowing me to text from my workto PC. For somebody who is constantly on the move, or on the road, a functioning, voice assistant is necessary, and Siri has solved every issue that I had.
I am thankful that their company continues to push consumer Hardware to the limits in every possible use case, and I am thankful for the tangent that they go on each week that are generally more helpful than any review or benchmark, including their own. This is not the first time that it has dramatically improved my tech life, and I hope it is not the last. I see people dunk on it way too often, so I wanted to add my positivity to the community for both the real people and the AI agents that will respond to me to enjoy.

Discussion About to buy a mystery screw driver. Very excited but I am curious what screwdrivers colors could i potentially get?
My birthday is coming around and I have been eyeing the LTT screwdriver since the day of its release 5 years ago. I never pulled the trigger due to shipping costs and also the relatively high price for a screwdriver. However i finally thing now is the time, the current in store choices however are okay (The transparent one does look awesome) but i would rather have a less common more unique. And because it's a birthday present for myself i would rather be suprised.
I am therefore wondering what are the potential colors i could get? From getting the basic color way to the noctua one or even some kind of special edition, maybe a random mix of colors? What are the possibilities?

WAN Show How comes, LTT never done a flight sim setup?
This such a big topic with sooooooo much stuff and equipment and user tools - and ltt never ever did something about it?
I can't believe no one at LTT is into flight sim?
Let's forget the military part, MS Flight Sim 2024 is a huge game with so many add-ons and tools that you could literally spend a whole week covering all the topics in several videos.
Here are my topics which should be interesting :)
Gear: sooo much stuff. There is even some force feedback setups like VPC ATLAS, which is quite expensive, joysticks, throttles, pedals, TrackIR/Head Tracking, VR
Tools: AirManager & GlassOut - building you own Cockpit, you can use touch screen to control the game.
SPAD neXt - can for example bound every singe key inside the Cockpit and you can even make scripts. MS Flight Sim has great debug view to see what happens if you press a button
Flight Routes: Software like Navigraph & Simbrief allows you to create a real life route and fly it with all the real life charts and rules
Communities: Vatsim, real people are planning and controlling air traffic like real traffic
Game Add-ons: There are sooo many great addons you can buy, new planes, where devs are trying to simulate as much as possible, with all the different equipment navigations, physics, simulated failure.

Other games: https://www.falcon-bms.com/ here was put soooo much work into an old game to make almost free F16 simulator

Tech Discussion What's the oldest PC part you still keep just in case?
I was thinking about how many old PC parts people probably have lying around at home because throwing them away feels like a waste.
You know the kind of stuff. Something you replaced years ago and will probably never use again, but you keep it anyway because maybe it'll come in handy someday.
I can understand keeping spare parts for troubleshooting, but I wonder how often people actually end up using the stuff they have been holding onto for years.
Has anyone here ever kept an old component for ages and then been really glad they didn't throw it away? Or do most of us just end up collecting electronic junk that we swear will be useful eventually?

WAN Show WAN Show Ding Compilation
I built it.
There are 134 clips up so far. It’s still a work in progress. I’m improving detection and working through the archive, so plenty may be missing.
You can watch and rate the clips. If you remember a ding we’ve missed, an episode link and timestamp would be hugely helpful. Feedback on awkward clip boundaries is welcome too.

Discussion The LTT backpack makes for a great commuter/doctor bag
Impressed with the smaller commuter back, i bought the original LTT backpack but it was pretty bulky on a smaller frame (less than 6 foot), I grabbed the commuter and this thing has served as a personal item no problem, sits on luggage, been cross country, holds my coffee and water bottles, protein powder shake, laptop and the medical toolkit comfortably. Currently serving as a commuting doctor bag and holds all the bells and whistles and its so comfortable. If i had to suggest a mod, possibly wider shoulder pads for additional comfort, and may an option for bungee cord on the front if desired for a jacket, but those are slight critiques.
I still think the original is a comfortable bag and highly recommend for anyone 6 feet and above, unless you dont mind bulk

Tech Question Concerned about motherboard curve
Hello guys,
I have this Gigabyte Z890 Gaming X Wifi 7 motherboard with a Sapphire Pulse 9070XT GPU. Today I noticed that there's a slight curve on the motherboard.
Is it normal? Can this cause issues in the long run?
This is a new pc bought and built just 10 days ago.
TIA

Tech Question Call of Duty BIOS Help!
Hey, I'm sort of new to this whole BIOS thing, but basically, you have to update your BIOS to play Call of Duty. When I scan the requirements, it says I'm good on having Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 turned on, but it says my BIOS firmware needs updating. I have a prebuilt PC and tried looking for the updates. It turns out the latest update for my BIOS was in 2021, and it doesn't work for CoD. Is there anything I can do?

Link Are Google locks, autopilot and other cloud locks turning some devices creating an ewaste issue?
All of these units at my local IT resaler are basically bricks due to locks like Autopilot, activation lock, Google lock, etc
ALL of these are useable working units except you cannot get through setup due to some sort of lock retrieved from the cloud.
If you take it to Microsoft or Apple, they’ll say “give me a receipt or proof of ownership”.
Not to mention that you can’t use the motherboards in another machine too.

Personal Opinion Running local AI on a 5090 + 9950X3D has been insane. Where would you take this build next?
I’ve been getting deeper into local AI, and watching my own PC chew through the workload has been insane. Watching the hardware get to work is half the fun at this point.
I’m building toward using it for coding, project documents, and everyday business workflows. The more I use it, the more I want to see what this machine can do.
Current setup:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, 16 cores / 32 threads
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090
RAM: Windows reports 61.4 GB usable
Storage: Two NVMe SSDs plus a SATA HDD
One of these shots shows roughly 24 GB of dedicated GPU memory and 50 GB of system RAM in use.
For those running similar setups, where would you go next? More system RAM, more VRAM, a second GPU, or getting the model/runtime better optimized first?
I’m interested in larger models and smoother multitasking.
What upgrade actually made a noticeable difference for you, and what would you skip if you were doing it again?

Discussion What use do normal users have for optic cables?
I've never looked into fiber optic cables, I don't watch videos on them, I've never tried to shop for them. But Amazon keeps trying to sell them to me, why? Why would I want them and what use cases do normal users have for them?

Discussion Video Idea (How many Linux Distros can you fit on one 4TB Drive)
Since LTT has been around for a long time, I'm not sure if they've ever done something like this. and how many could you fit on one drive? And would you be able to boot into each one of the distros, maybe windows would be one of them, you could also do the meme distros. And would there be enough RAM? Each distro would have to have enough storage for at least one game to test right? Maybe Minecraft, idk. Let me know your thoughts on this idea and If Linus has done this in a video before.

Tech Discussion Russia's Yandex bot traffic nearly eliminated overnight after Ukraine drone strikes cripple multiple of 'Russia's Google' data centers — Ukraine intensifies bombing of Yandex data centers in response to Moscow’s strikes on Kyiv data centers
This may skirt rule 8 if it devolves into politics so I hope we can avoid that. I just thought it was an interesting topic.

Discussion Looking to Sell 2019 LTX Signed Poster
Hello everyone, I got a signed poster back in 2019 at LTX and I’m looking to sell it. I’ve tried looking online for a price or anything about it, I’m not sure why I can’t find any info.
I’d be happy if anyone has any details about it. If anyone’s interested in buying it make a comment here so everyone can see and I’ll do my best to keep everyone updated.
Thanks for the help and I hope it can go to a good home.
