Rant/Experience Father passed away, left behind will. Have some questions

I'm 29yo. My father passed away recently. I have only one brother who is 6 years older than me. I have only mother with me in the house. The will document has stated house and father bank accounts to me only. Will also have witness details so I think it is genuine. Now my question is really about the money, house etc. how will that be distributed? My brother who already had always troubled my father and mother all their lives pushing father to debt so we had to sell some part of the house and even saw my mother crying because of his scams. He is married but I don't give a f about him and his wife and his kid.

My mother is not that educated and eyesight is weak. She did lots of work at home taking care of everyone but people scammed all the time..Mother will be with me always. My goal is to not make her sad..and I don't want anyone to distrub me. Actually I'm really anti social so I don't really talk to anyone in my family except sometimes with masi because she is kind. What I want to know is how to be careful in my life now? What precautions to take? I know I can't be scammed easily. I don't have any friends either. Just work and come home. That's it. I don't want to make friends. Now my brother and his wife and kid i want them to not come here in the house. They have a separate room in the house where they lived after marriage.. but I don't want them here nor their relatives. What can I do? Brother is in other town where he works. His wife at her mother house. She doesn't work. They don't own a house. I don't want them to trouble me regarding what father left behind.

Legal Advice Needed Harassed, extorted ₹2,648 via personal UPI, and filmed in my home clothes by a Flipkart/Jeeves technician. Location: Bengaluru

TL;DR: Complimentary washing machine installation via Flipkart turned into an extortion and intimidation ordeal. Jeeves technician pushed an unneeded stand and softener, verbally abused me (15M) in Kannada because my mom doesn’t speak it, filmed me inside my own home in my undershirt (bannian), and made us transfer ₹2,648 directly to his personal PhonePe account. Phone support was useless, and now I’m terrified of retaliation. (Note: I am 15 and currently shaken up and traumatized by this entire incident, so I used AI to help me organize my thoughts and write this clearly).

Hey everyone, posting this from Bengaluru to warn others about aggressive on-site extortion by Flipkart’s installation arm (Jeeves) and ask for advice.
Location: Bengaluru

What Happened:

  1. The Upsell: A Jeeves technician came for a standard washing machine installation. Immediately, he pushed an aftermarket stand and a water softener filter.
  2. The Confrontation: Knowing these are optional, I told him we didn’t want them and asked him to just complete the installation. He got aggressive, questioning why we even booked the visit.
  3. Exploiting Language Barrier: My mother doesn’t understand Kannada. The technician used this to his advantage—he shouted and hurled verbal abuse directly at me in Kannada while acting innocent toward my mother.
  4. Filming a Minor on Private Property: To intimidate me, he pulled out his personal phone and began recording a video of me inside our home without consent. I was in private home clothes (bannian). He later claimed to delete it, but deleted media stays in trash bins/cloud backups.
  5. Useless Phone Support: During the argument, I called Flipkart customer support. The agent completely brushed it off, just casually saying "accessories are optional," offering zero help while a technician was actively intimidating us.
  6. Off-the-Books Personal UPI Extortion: To stop the hostility and get him out of the house, ₹2,648 was transferred directly to his personal PhonePe account (not via any official company invoice).

Why I'm Worried:

The machine is currently set up on the stand and connected to the filter, so we are using them, but the entire interaction was coercive. More importantly, because I have lodged a complaint, I am genuinely anxious and scared that he might return to our apartment to confront or fight us, as he knows our address and will know who reported him.

Because of the trauma and stress from this whole experience, I used AI to help me structure this post and send the formal complaint emails properly.

Any advice on handling this safely would be really appreciated.

Legal Advice Needed [Consumer Law] Jio advertised Google AI Pro for 18 months, but Google distinguishes promotional Pro accounts from directly paid Pro accounts. What is the legal position?

I'm trying to understand the consumer-law position on a subscription offer involving Reliance Jio and Google. I'm not claiming that either company has acted illegally and would appreciate a fact-based discussion.

Background:

Jio and Google announced an offer through which eligible Jio users could receive 18 months of Google AI Pro at no additional charge, advertised as having a value of approximately ₹35,100.

The offer was presented as the Google AI Pro plan, rather than as a separately named, lower-tier AI Pro variant.

Official references:

What has changed?

Google Antigravity's official developer forum has clarified that partner-bundled subscriptions, including the Jio offer, are treated as promotional entitlements for certain model-access purposes.

Under the announced rules:

  • Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 are available only to directly billed, non-promotional Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
  • Third-party model access on promotional plans is scheduled to end on November 2, 2026.
  • Gemini 3.1 Pro was retired from Antigravity on October 12, reportedly across subscription tiers, so I am not treating that particular removal as a Jio-specific restriction.
  • On October 15, Antigravity announced the rollout of Gemini 4 Argon to paid Google AI Pro subscribers. Whether a Jio-provided account qualifies is therefore another entitlement question.

The relevant clarification from Google's forum is here:

Official Antigravity forum discussion

The legal question

I understand that a company can change its product, retire models and impose reasonable usage limits. I'm not arguing that customers are automatically entitled to every future model.

My question concerns the difference between changing a product and distinguishing between subscribers who ostensibly have the same plan.

If Google AI Pro is advertised as the plan being provided through Jio, but Google subsequently treats that subscription as a promotional or trial entitlement when determining eligibility for certain benefits available to directly paid AI Pro subscribers, how would Indian consumer law assess that distinction?

In particular:

  1. Could this raise an issue under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, concerning misleading advertisements or unfair trade practices, if the difference in entitlements was not adequately disclosed before consumers accepted the offer?
  2. How much weight would a clause allowing Google to determine premium benefits from time to time carry if the marketing presented the offer as Google AI Pro without clearly highlighting material partner-specific exclusions?
  3. Since the Jio offer is conditional on maintaining an eligible telecom plan, rather than being an entirely unrelated free service, does that affect how the consumer-protection question should be analysed?

The central issue is whether a company can advertise and provide a subscription under the same Pro plan name, but apply materially different eligibility rules based on the method through which that subscription was obtained, without adequately disclosing that distinction upfront.

Would this be a plausible basis for a consumer complaint under Indian law, or would the promotional-offer terms generally protect the companies in these circumstances? I'm particularly interested in the legal principles and evidence that would determine the answer!

Legal Advice Needed [Delhi] Landlord’s relatives entered our flat during a fire emergency and verbally abused us. What legal action can we take?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for legal advice regarding an incident that happened at my rented flat in Delhi in the early hours of 16 October.
Around 2–3 AM, my flatmate’s laptop suddenly started smoking heavily and its lithium-ion battery began melting. There was a significant amount of smoke and we were genuinely scared because we didn’t know if the situation would escalate into a fire. We called the fire department and two fire personnel came to the flat to check the situation.
While we were dealing with this emergency, my landlord’s brother and his wife entered our flat without seeking our permission. My actual landlord does not live in Delhi and resides in another state. His brother and sister-in-law are not our landlords.
Instead of asking whether we were okay or expressing concern about the potentially dangerous situation, they started shouting at us and making derogatory comments about our character and personal lives. They accused us of partying, bringing men over and made a comment along the lines of “लड़कों की फैक्ट्री चला रखी है” (essentially slut-shaming us for having male visitors). They also made racist remarks.
We were already shaken by the battery incident, and being subjected to this behaviour in our own home was extremely distressing.
There is also a clause in our rental arrangement requiring 24 hours’ prior notice before entering the premises. They did not seek our permission before entering, and I want to understand what legal rights we have regarding privacy and unauthorised entry.
I have the following questions:
Unauthorised entry: Can the landlord’s relatives legally enter our rented flat without our consent, particularly when they are not the landlords themselves? Does the 24-hour notice clause in our rental agreement strengthen our position?
Verbal abuse and slut-shaming: Can the derogatory comments and sexualised insults made against us attract any criminal provisions under Indian law? Does it matter that these comments were made inside our home?
Racist remarks: Is there any legal recourse for the racist comments? Would the specific words used and the context determine whether any offence has occurred?
Filing a complaint: Can we file a police complaint against the landlord’s brother and his wife directly? Should we approach the local police station, send a legal notice, or consult a lawyer first?
Protecting ourselves as tenants: What steps can we take to ensure they do not enter our flat or harass us again? Can the landlord be held responsible for the conduct of his relatives?
Evidence: We have the rental agreement and can document the incident. Would the fire department’s attendance record, witness statements or written communication with the landlord be useful?
I want to understand our legal options and whether pursuing a police complaint or other legal action would be reasonable in this situation.
I would appreciate advice based on Indian law, particularly Delhi law and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, where applicable.
Thank you.

PS - That man has been arrested twice for passing derogatory remarks to our neighbours. I’ve witnessed it before.

Legal Advice Needed Uncle took his property share years ago, kicked my grandmother out after my grandfather died, built his own house, and now claims a "Will" leaves everything to his sons.

My maternal grandfather had two children: my mom and my uncle.

While my grandfather was alive, my uncle took his share of the family property, moved out, and signed a bond stating he only had a "blood relation" going forward and no further claim to any remaining property.

My grandfather passed away 6 years ago. He lived in a house on a small piece of land inherited from his mother. After his death, my grandmother continued living there alone. Later, my uncle came back, forcibly evicted my grandmother, demolished the old house, and built his own new house on that land.

Now, my uncle has filed a court case claiming my grandfather wrote a Will leaving that property to my uncle's sons (clearly a backdoor move to bypass the bond my uncle signed). The case is currently ongoing, but we strongly suspect our lawyer has been compromised by my uncle and isn't representing us properly.

What are our realistic chances of challenging and defeating this sudden Will in court?

How do we safely replace a compromised lawyer mid-case and protect my mom and grandmother's rights?

Note: If there are any civil/property lawyers based in North Bangalore willing to review the documents and give a legal opinion, I am open to meeting in person.

Legal Advice Needed My partner is in house arrest cuz she’s queer

• Upvotes

We need your help 🚨 please bare with me

My partner (25) and I (24) are in a long distance relationship. She was previously outed by her cousin few years ago but her parent chose to be in blissful ignorance and force her into marrying a dude. We have been planning her escape and to run away discreetly. But everything changed when her dad made a surprise visit to the city, found out that she didn’t live where she said she was, went berserk and started spam-calling all her contacts…all her plans went out the window to escape…

She’s been stuck for the past 2 weeks now. We contacted lawyers and they said it’s best to call the women’s helpline but my partner didn’t want to draw attention. She took some lawyers secretly to the police station when her parents were off to work, but they said that if she goes forward with the complain the police won’t take it seriously as she lives in a conservative area where women marry men, let alone a lesbian woman who doesn’t want to marry a man. So they suggested to wait until her parents do something really bad so that it’s evidence against them…so we waited…

She tried everything to escape whenever possible. her parents are like hawks. They are not letting her roam freely. And today, they coerced her to tell she is, in fact, running away from home and that she’s queer. It was horrible. They threatened her a lot. Said every homophobic thing they could say. It’s not real, mental illness, doing it to make parents suffer, she will get aids, women are made for men, this is going against god etc.

They said she will never leave the house now. They will not go forward with the marriage but in house arrest for the rest of her life. Mind you, cuz of this she had to quit her job abruptly…so now she’s unemployed too.

The more we try, the more it kept getting worse…the lawyers and police have failed us. Our friend circle have helped but every-time they did, some bullshit happens with her family. I’m not in India and i can’t imagine what she is going through.

We are in contact here and there when she is not being watched like a hawk…she doesn’t have her own vehicle rn but can drive both a car and a scooty. Now her parents know she’s lesbian and will probably use it against her.

Please give me us some ideas for her to escape.

Legal Advice Needed Fashion startup in Gurgaon Withholding My Partner’s Salary After Firing Her — Legal Options?

My partner was terminated by a startup based in Gurgaon, Haryana, around 45 days ago. The reason given was that her work was not up to the company’s expectations and that she was not a good fit for the organisation.

Since her termination, she has not received her last month’s salary or her pending reimbursements.

Over the past 45 days, she has repeatedly followed up with HR over email and phone calls regarding the pending payments. HR kept delaying the matter, saying they were calculating her full and final (F&F) settlement and that the amount would be disbursed shortly, before the 45-day period was over.

However, last night, HR sent her an email explicitly stating that the company would no longer pay her pending salary or reimbursements because she had failed to meet the company’s expectations. They also mentioned that they had previously been considering paying the amount as a goodwill gesture but had now decided against it.

The company is registered in Delhi, with its operations based in Gurgaon. We also have reason to believe this is not an isolated incident. The founder has allegedly withheld payments from other employees who were previously terminated, at least 3-4 cases in the last 6 months that my partner witnessed. Additionally, several vendors have reportedly been waiting for their payments for three to four months or longer, despite repeatedly following up with the company.

We want to understand what legal options are available to recover her unpaid salary and reimbursements.

My questions are:

  1. What legal action can she take to recover her pending salary and reimbursements?
  2. Would filing a complaint through the Labour Department or the SAMADHAN portal be an effective option in this situation?
  3. Can the company legally withhold earned salary and legitimate reimbursements on the grounds that an employee did not meet its expectations?
  4. Would sending a formal legal notice through a lawyer be the best first step?
  5. Can anyone recommend a good labour and employment lawyer in Delhi who has experience dealing with startups and unpaid salary/F&F disputes?

Any advice from people who have dealt with a similar situation, particularly in Delhi, would be appreciated.

Legal Advice Needed Utkarsh Small Finance Bank says I must repay ₹24,738 even though I completed my ₹70,000 loan — what can I do?

i took a loan of ₹70,000 from Utkarsh Small Finance Bank. We completed the repayments, and we have a repayment ledger/passbook that appears to show a zero balance after the final installment.

However, my CIBIL report still shows ₹24,738 outstanding.

When we approached the bank, we were told that the employee responsible for collecting our installments took the money but did not update the bank's system and has since left the job. The bank is now telling us to pay the amount again or our credit score will be bad forever.

what should i do , i need to clear this problem soon because i need a new loan for son study, but no bank is giving because of that 24,738 rs

Legal Advice Needed Flipkart has cancelled my damaged refrigerator pickup 6 times without visiting my home — what should I do?

I’m sharing my experience with Flipkart and its seller, AARNA VENTURES PRIVATE LIMITED, and would appreciate advice from anyone who has faced a similar issue.

I purchased a Samsung 189 L 5-Star refrigerator from Flipkart for ₹15,265. It was delivered on 29 September 2026 in damaged condition. There is a dent on the rear side below the motor/compressor tray, and the refrigerator sits unevenly and unstably on the floor.

I raised a return request, but the pickup has now reportedly failed six times.

Every time, the reason given is:

“Your product couldn't be picked as it did not match the product description shared by Flipkart.”

The frustrating part is that, according to my experience, the delivery agent has cancelled the pickup without visiting my home to inspect the refrigerator.

It has been over 15 days since delivery. My credit card EMI bill has also been generated, and I am still dealing with the damaged product without a satisfactory resolution.

Order details:

Product: Samsung 189 L 5-Star refrigerator

Order ID: OD438747340904380100

Seller: AARNA VENTURES PRIVATE LIMITED

Latest pickup tracking ID: FMPR0980695719

Amount paid: ₹15,265

I have already contacted customer support and escalated the matter, but the issue remains unresolved. I want a fair resolution and an immediate refund, with Flipkart coordinating the collection of the damaged product.

My questions:

Has anyone experienced repeated pickup cancellations with Flipkart?

What is the most effective way to escalate this to senior management?

Has anyone successfully resolved a similar issue through the National Consumer Helpline or the e-Jagriti consumer commission process?

I am keeping the screenshots of the pickup cancellations, product damage, invoice, and support communications as evidence.

I would appreciate practical advice from people who have dealt with similar cases.

Update: I intend to pursue the appropriate consumer grievance channels if this is not resolved.

Legal Advice Needed Property disputes after father is no longer alive

Female child here. After my dad passed away my brother made me fraudulently sign a power of attorney (shapath patra?) which he used illegally in many places to get my funds from my dad’s PPF, bank accounts, locker with gold etc. I only came
To know about this not too long ago after I was able to visit India. I live abroad so he took full advantage of this.
My dad had bought two plots of land long ago. One of which was somehow transferred to an aunt long back when we were kids. My brother somehow managed to get this plot gifted to himself through this aunt and constructed a house on this land.
Him and his wife are acting like that plot does not exist in the inheritance and when we had a discussion about this long ago they wanted to split assets without even acknowledging this plot.

In their heads, I am super wealthy just because I am an NRI. But the truth is, I am completely self made and studied on scholarships and built my career from scratch in a foreign land with no support,
Family or relatives. While I was working on my studies and career, they were running this scam in India by using the power of attorney fraudulently.

At this point, they have completely banished me from the home I grew up in. I left my home to study abroad and when I visited back I had no home to come back to after my dad passed away (mom died several years before dad did)

My question is: what are my legal options here?
My dad and rest of our family always treated us equally and everything my dad did was for both of us, not just for him because he is a male.
What does the law say about inheritance for the girl child and an NRI?
How can I report and file a case for falsifying the power of attorney and fraudulently acquiring all of the inheritance which should have been split between us?

I am deeply hurt because no one expects their only sibling to turn greedy all of a sudden and lie for money. At this point, I don’t even have a photograph of my parents nor anything to remember them by except our memories together.

Legal Advice Needed What action can be taken against Boat for denying replacement

I ordered a neckband about 13 days ago on oct 3. It came damaged, one side of the cable/wire was broken and there was sound problem from that ear as well. I contacted boat customer service immediately. Registered a complaint on their website and uploaded all the images too. 24 hours passed and I received no acknowledgement so i emailed them. They replied asking more images but failed to mention where i need to upload them, still i shared it in the email chain. To confirm it myself i called them next day and once again they asked for more images. All of this is fine but i received a mail reply saying the case is being closed because i didnt share the images before 48 hour WHILE I WAS ON CALL with their customer representative!! The guy on the other side was decent enough to clarify that my case is not closed yet and they will do an investigation that will take 10 days at most. In these 10 days i received no communication at all. Now on the 13th day i called them and asked for an update, to which they replied that the case is closed because the product was dispatched fine from their side. Please tell me what i can do to appeal this and hold them accountable.

Legal Advice Needed Bank Account (IOB) Debit Frozen due to Task App P2P Transaction – Customer Care asked for EDD. Need Advice!

Hey everyone, I need urgent advice. My Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) account got completely debit-frozen two days ago (October 13, 2026), and I am stuck in a serious situation.

What happened:

I was using an app called "i money" where I was doing P2P (Peer-to-Peer) transactions. The app promised a 5% commission for completing tasks/transfers where money would come into my account and go out. I thought it was a legitimate side gig, but I now realize I have been dragged into a "Task Fraud / Money Mule" trap.

Current Status:

• My banking app logins are working perfectly, and I can see my full balance on the dashboard.

• However, all outgoing transactions are completely blocked. When I try to send even ₹1 via UPI, or try a standard bank transfer (IMPS/NEFT) using an account number and IFSC code, it throws a generic "UPI limit crossed / risk threshold exceeded" error.

• I called IOB Customer Care today, and they told me my account is restricted and I need to go to my Home Branch to file EDD (Enhanced Due Diligence).

My Concerns:

  1. It is clear that the money sent to me via P2P was tainted/stolen fraud money, and an innocent victim probably filed a report on the National Cyber Crime Portal (1930), leading the Cyber Cell to order a debit freeze on my account.

  2. I am terrified to go to the bank. Will the police get involved or arrest me at the branch? I had no idea the money was fraudulent; I was just doing what the app told me for the commission.

Questions for the community:

• What should I expect when I visit the IOB branch to file the EDD?

• What exact documents, chat logs, or P2P order screenshots should I print out to prove to the Branch Manager that I am a victim of a scam, not the actual cybercriminal?

• How long does it usually take to get a Cyber Cell debit freeze lifted once you submit EDD?

Any help or past experiences with IOB or Cyber Cell blocks would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Legal Advice Needed Bank account showing “Dormant” after receiving freelance payment from UAE.

Hello,

I recently did some freelance work for a person based in the UAE and received payment for the work. Today, when I logged into my HDFC Bank account, I encountered the following message:

Account is dormant

"The selected account is dormant. Please visit HDFC Bank branch for more information.”

I’m currently unable to make any transactions through the account, so I’m not sure what exactly is going on.

Could this be related to the freelance payment I received from the UAE. I’m also concerned about whether a lien or some other restriction could have been placed on my account.

I’m planning to visit my HDFC Bank branch tomorrow to get clarification, but I wanted to ask here first to see if anyone can help.

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Legal Advice Needed [India] Former employer hasn't paid my September salary, and I have no appointment letter or payslips. What legal action can I take?

Hi everyone, I need some legal advice regarding unpaid salary from my former employer.

I worked at a private architecture firm in India. I completed my work and served my notice period, but my September 2026 salary is still unpaid. As of 15 October, it has been more than 20 days since I left the organisation, and I have not received my pending payment despite following up.

The problem is that my employer never provided me with an appointment letter, joining letter, or salary slips.

However, I do have some evidence:

- WhatsApp group messages showing my daily office in-time and out-time.

- GPay transaction records of previous salary payments.

I want to understand my legal options for recovering my salary.

My questions are:

  1. Can I file a complaint with the Labour Department without an appointment letter or salary slips?

  2. Are WhatsApp attendance messages and GPay transaction records sufficient to help establish my employment and salary arrangement?

  3. Should I send a legal notice before filing a complaint, or can I approach the Labour Department directly?

  4. Which labour authority should I approach for a private architecture firm?

  5. Can the employer face legal consequences for withholding earned salary and failing to provide employment documents?

I am willing to resolve this professionally, but I don't want to lose the salary I have earned simply because my employer did not provide formal documentation.

I'd appreciate advice from lawyers or anyone who has successfully dealt with a similar situation in India.

Thank you.

Legal Advice Needed Selling land in himachal need help with legal documents

Hello everyone,

As the title suggests, I’m(26F) looking to sell my ancestral property in Himachal Pradesh. Before that can happen, the property needs to be partitioned between my stepmother, stepbrother, and myself, after which we’ll likely proceed with the sale.

My stepmother is currently looking to sell the land and wants to get the partition process started. I’m okay with moving forward, but I want to make sure everything is done fairly, legally, and transparently, so that everyone gets what they’re entitled to and there are no issues down the line.
I’d really appreciate some guidance on how to go about this. What documents should I arrange, what should I verify before agreeing to the partition, and what precautions should I take before signing anything or proceeding with the sale? Are there any specific legal procedures or things to watch out for when dealing with ancestral property in Himachal Pradesh?

I don’t really have family support to guide me through this, so I’m trying to understand the process and protect my interests before taking any steps.
Any advice from people who’ve dealt with something similar, especially in Himachal Pradesh, would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Legal Advice Needed Drpply a scamster and unprofessional niche brand of clothing

I ordered 2 t shirts from their website on 5th October 2026 which cost me 1190. When I paid amount online in advance since they were charging for post delivery payments. I just recieved one message in email that you entered their community. You can share a photo of the fit as well.

Now after I didn't receive any official message or email regarding any updates on status or anything. After 5 days on 10th October I checked no email was received so I went to website to check nothing there except the order placed page. No date of when i will recieve. So I checked if I can contact them so Email to their support email address asking where is my order also shared my order ID. I received informal message type reply that this is our WhatsApp number you can message there and when I messaged there nothing happened no reply. Then I replied on email you guys don't respond there afterwards no response. Just after few hours I received a email from Ship**** some dispatch company that a order is placed on 10th October for one of the T shirts which was 695 rupees and I will receive that order on 14th October. I clicked the link it was cancelled status. So I was doubtful like How come today order placed after 5 days and thats also cancelled status. I waited if anything or email i will get. But for next 5 more days nothing from them until I got pissed enough to check whats going on. I called on companies number no one picked. I messaged them no one replied at that time. I emailed them nothing happened. Then I decided to check with shipping company so I contacted them they said only one product order details were given and that was also cancelled. So they said you will have to contact the seller and seller was not replying back so I went National consumer complaint website online and placed a complaint with details. Then I emailed the seller about the complaint after some minutes they replied back on email. Give ua your registered WhatsApp number we will escalate the issue. Then they replied on WhatsApp that "hey your parcel has been lost by the delivery guy we will book it again in few days since black XS is out of stock sorry for the delay" so i replied not my problem for your unprofessional behaviour. I have attached screenshot as well.

As per my understanding they never had the product from the start they took money and left communication so that I forget and just ignore if I care about it or not. Their job to take money was done. Then he gives me a thumbs up on my reply to their message. Like this kind of unprofessional behaviour I couldn't tolerate so I called consumer complaint number as well but they mentioned we have processed it will be updated in 5 to 30 days. But I dont what I can do to shake such apathetic brand owners towards their customers issue. I need some advice on it what can be done better.

Legal Advice Needed Seeking Legal Advice Regarding Threats, Verbal Abuse, and Misconduct by a Porter Delivery Partner in Delhi

• Upvotes

A couple of days ago, my wife visited Chandni Chowk, Delhi, to purchase several items. Since she was alone and had a lot of heavy shopping bags to carry, she booked a porter through the Porter app to have the shopping bags delivered to our home in Greater Noida. She planned to travel home by metro after handing over the bags.

However, several delivery partners either declined the booking or demanded additional money over and above the fare displayed in the app. Eventually, one delivery partner agreed to accept the request but informed her that he would collect the shopping bags immediately and deliver it by 9:00 PM. This was around 4:30 PM. As she had limited alternatives, she reluctantly agreed.

Meanwhile, someone at the shop where she was shopping offered to arrange another person who could transport the stuff to our home in less time. My wife agreed and asked the shop representative to contact that person.

Unfortunately, both individuals arrived at the shop at approximately the same time. My wife explained the situation to the Porter delivery partner and requested him to leave, as she had arranged alternative transportation. However, instead of handling the situation professionally, he allegedly began verbally abusing and threatening her. He held on tightly to one of the bags inside the shop and threatened to slap her if she did not cancel the Porter booking.

My wife was understandably frightened and ultimately cancelled the booking. The delivery partner then left. What was particularly distressing was that, despite the incident taking place inside a shop and in a public area, nobody intervened to help her.

I acknowledge that my wife could have cancelled the booking earlier. However, I do not believe that this justifies threatening, abusing, or intimidating a woman under any circumstances.

I am considering approaching the local police station to submit a written complaint and would also like to raise the matter formally with Porter. I do not wish to unnecessarily prolong the matter or initiate lengthy legal proceedings. My primary objective is to ensure that the incident is taken seriously, that the individual is held accountable, and that he apologises to my wife and understands that such behaviour is unacceptable.

I would appreciate advice on the following:

What legal action can be taken in India in a case involving verbal abuse, a threat to slap someone, and the alleged act of holding on to their belongings to compel them to cancel a booking?

Should I file a written complaint at the police station, and what details or evidence should I include?

Should I also raise a formal complaint with Porter, and can the company be asked to investigate the incident and take appropriate action against the delivery partner?

Given that my objective is a sincere apology and accountability rather than prolonged litigation, what would be the most practical and proportionate course of action?

I would appreciate guidance from anyone with relevant legal knowledge or experience dealing with similar incidents in India.

Legal Advice Needed Getting refund from Co-op housing society

I invested in the Smart Bangalore Infrastructure co-op housing society and the project has been delayed for years. I applied for cancellation and I'm almost at the end of the waiting period. They are not responsive to calls and evasive when it comes to date to collect the refund cheque. I should've known better than to put my money here.

What can I do to expedite the refund? And when I collect the cheque what should I do to ensure I'm not getting conned?

Legal Advice Needed How can a postal customer escalate an unfilled Postmaster vacancy and alleged pressure on staff in Uttar Pradesh Postal Circle?

The regular Sub-Postmaster of a Sub-Post Office in Uttar Pradesh Postal Circle retired on 30 September 2026. During my visits on 6 and 14 October, I found a subordinate employee handling banking transactions and duties ordinarily associated with the Postmaster.

I was told that, to the employee’s knowledge, no formal officiating arrangement had been made and staff were managing the work because the office had to continue functioning. I was also told that staff had repeatedly sought a replacement, but the office reportedly attracts too many complaints and this was being given as a reason for not appointing a new Postmaster.

There is another serious concern. My name is already highlighted within my postal division because of my complaints. Staff members, including the retired Postmaster, have told me that they are being pressured to get me to withdraw my complaints, even complaints that have nothing to do with that Post Office. I am concerned that this pressure on subordinate staff is connected to my complaints and that the stated excuse for leaving the Postmaster position unfilled reflects the same problem.

This is not merely an internal staffing issue. It can affect service continuity, banking operations, accountability and customer experience at the Post Office.

I have already spent considerable time treasure-hunting through postal manuals, rules, circulars and departmental guidelines to understand the applicable provisions. I have looked into the administrative side, but I still cannot identify a practical escalation route that addresses the issue without simply sending it back to the same local authorities.

As a postal customer, where can I flag this beyond the local divisional authorities?

  • Which authority can examine compliance with the rules governing an SPM vacancy and officiating arrangements?
  • Can this be raised as a public-service continuity and customer-service issue, rather than being treated solely as an internal staffing matter?
  • What route can examine the alleged pressure on staff without exposing the employees who spoke to me or inviting further retaliation?
  • Would the Department of Posts Directorate, a public-grievance oversight body, or another authority be appropriate?

I am looking for practical escalation options, not another list of rules to investigate. The objective is to address the administrative vacancy, protect service continuity and prevent customers’ complaints from becoming a reason to leave an office without proper supervision.

Legal Advice Needed Need advice on a disputed land

We have a plot subject to a status quo order from the Orissa High Court, and it is in our possession. However, a third party who has been illegally residing on adjacent government PWD land for 30 years has extended their kachha house onto our property without our knowledge. This individual, Jagu(random name), has built a shop and several rooms on the government land and has now encroached upon our private property, refusing to vacate. What is the best and quickest legal way to remove him from both our private land and the government land?

Legal Advice Needed Rent deposit refund from PG Stay, Pune

Hi Everyone, needed some advice on a deposit conflict with my landlord/org.

Background: I moved to Pune in the month of Aug this year for work and wanted to stay in a pg first before moving into a flat. So i looked around and out of the available options, the cheapest and cost-efficient was an establishment called Helloworld, which is like a pg /retal stay. I got in contact with a guy called Akshay from Helloworld's side through whatsApp to carry the process forward. I had paid 2k as token amt on 3rd Aug, moved in 5th Aug and paid 16k( rent and deposit )and an extra 500 something, that I didn't know what it was at that time but had to pay to carry the process forward( even the property manager didn't know and said that he would adjust it in the refund). all the payments were done through the helloworld's app and website, provided by akshay. At the time of payment of token, within the policies there was a clause that stated that the token amt would be adjusted with the security deposit and would be non refundable in the case of cancelation, along with another point, an amt of 3k would be reduced from the refund as "move out fees". This was Clarrified with Akshay, which he said was not applicable to the city of pune and only in other locations. So I went ahead with the payment and confirmed it. I had to put notice of 1 month from 5th August as well, I. E on sept 5 since I planned on moving out then, which is the date I moved out as well.

Current problem:

At the current situation, I had paid them a total of (2k+16k+500) all inclusive out of which I'm supposed to get 10k deposit(16-8+2) along with the 500 promised by the property manager, so total of 10.5k

turns out the 500 I paid was the rent between 3rd , booking date, and move in date 5th Aug,( those two days I didn't stay coz the property manager said they room wasn't ready) and then an Additional rent for the 5 days of September was also levied ( which I thought, 1 month was supposed to be counted from move in) and the moved out charges were also reduced along with utility charges. When approach ing the customer service they say that the rent is calculated in calender month basis and the move out charges can never be waved off. Now Akshay is also dodging my messages.

Is justice on my side here? Is there something I can do about it, something like consumer court maybe? ( I do have the ss of the convo btw me and Akshay)
