Sebring with the 2.5L V6, buddy came in with a dead battery (needs an alternator), but it was pushing oil out the timing belt cover. So we sell him the cam and crank seals to address that and figured out in the tear down that the timing belt tensioner bolt broke. By whatever Chrysler witchcraft, the engine mount bracket and timing cover was generally holding the pulley in the right place, so it was actually running and driving... the tensioner pulley bolt and one (loose) engine mount bolt pushed the lower cover into the harmonic balancer. Another shop did the timing belt less than a year ago, looks like they pushed the cam seals in trying to pull them (then gave up), and left the tensioner and two engine mount bolts loose. Water pump was also leaking because they didn't replace the o-ring or that rear seal.
Owner has been adding half a quart of oil a day and said there was a scraping noise for the last few months, but no flashing CEL or nothing...

Head bolts were so tight due to overheat that the last one snapped in the worst way possible. The good news is this engine was definitely toast anyway

10 mostly intact hemi manifold bolts. One of a kind. Best offer takes it.

Realistically, this car can ride another 200k miles. Interior is clean and sharp expect the passenger door card which has water damage. Owner lives in a $650k home and is a retired doctor. He demands I make this car solid. It's been hard parked in his driveway since before covid.
Got it all running smooth.

You really need sound to fully appreciate it. A rodent chewed a CAN line in the engine bay causing loss of communications with TCM. It literally feels like the car got rear-ended. After repair, it is silky smooth.

Brand-new 2026 Ram 2500 with the 6.4L HEMI. The story I was given was that the customer accidentally filled it with diesel, drove approximately 4 miles, and then realized his mistake. Personally, I’m calling BS on that timeline. By the time the truck reached my bay, it was completely dead. Replaced the battery, only to discover the starter was also toast. All 16 spark plugs were absolutely COOKED. Hindsight being 20/20, those should’ve been some pretty obvious red flags. After replacing the plugs, I was still picking up an intermittent misfire on cylinder 7, maybe one or two counts per 200 RPM. I ended up driving it another 15–20 miles, thinking I was still dealing with residual diesel contamination in the exhaust, O2 sensors, and catalytic converters, and that the system just needed to clear itself out. Boy, was I wrong. Further diagnosis revealed that the cylinder 7 piston was literally coming apart. Looking back, I got tunnel vision on the fuel contamination and didn't give the mechanical side enough consideration early on. Definitely one of those diagnoses I'll remember.

Working on my own junk today. Started swapping out a 3.27 gear axle for a 4.10 one. Ford 8.8 in a 1995 Mustang.
This is fun work to me. Wheeee

A Judge drops off his daughter's car and says "Do Whatever It Needs". Full inspection time and expecting a dude who "knows guac is extra" to already have things in good shape. Drop the skid plate for the oil change service and find this on the transmission shift linkage. Think that's a genuine motorcraft bottlecap?

does anyone see the sparks/glowing terminal? just another customer rolling in with work done by a Chris fix subscriber. nut is cross threaded and terminal isn't making good connection causing excessive resistance, melting and fire conditions. unfortunately the nut is seized meaning it is going to break the post so I had to recommend a new alternator also

This chassis is terrible for flooding, the sunroof drains get clogged and backup into the cabin. This at least the 7th - 8th 204/212 we’ve seen with this issue.

Customer says there is a slight rumble sound over bumps.
I test drove it and the brakes sounded fine and worked just grand too! No pulling
