Free week-long test of reflective journaling prompts (PDF plus short anonymous form). Looking for 10 adults who journal or are curious about it :)
I’m developing a set of journaling sessions and I’d like honest feedback before I take it any further. I wanted something for the kind of person who finds blank pages and “become your best self” workbooks a bit much. These sessions are quiet, a little dry, and mostly just ask good questions. Some take two minutes, some fifteen. There’s a light one for evenings you’ve had a day, a longer one for slow Sunday mornings, and one optional session that looks at the people who mildly irritate us and what that might say, if anything.
I developed the first drafts with the help of AI and I’ve been editing them myself, so I’m especially curious whether they feel written by a person, or like someone trying to cheer you up.
What I’m asking: use the PDF over about a week, whenever you feel like it, and skip whatever doesn’t appeal. Write on paper if you like. I never see what you write. Then fill in a short anonymous form (no name or email, about ten minutes). The form asks which lines made you smile or wince, whether anything felt repetitive or like homework, and whether you’d want it in print.
The PDF is linked at the top of the form: https://forms.gle/VMB1MEUnxp9FLUHm7. It’s free, nothing is being sold, and there’s no signup.
Content note: one optional session is slightly more introspective. It’s marked, and you can skip it.

Writing to let off steam. Now I have more steam.
I started journaling because I had too much going on in my head. Somewhere along the way, I put together a guided journal and published it.
I’m glad I did. I’m just awkward about telling people it exists. I overthink a few sentences, get annoyed, then wonder why I’ve turned a simple post into a whole afternoon.
Today I wanted to write something to clear my head. Instead, I spent ages deciding what to say and where to put it. Very relaxing. Would recommend.
When you’re tired and irritated, do you just dump everything on the page, or do you need a question to get you started?
My current prompt is: “What the hell is bothering me?” Apparently, “everything” needs a little more detail.

My journaling progression
Hi, everyone. Today I decided to do an Outlander spread, since I just finished the last season, and remembered the first journal spread I did in a more creative way was outlander themed as well, almost two years ago, so I wanted to compare both spreads.
I think i've gotten much more comfortable using different textures, and even did my own illustrations.

Is Journalling a waste of time
I journal when I am feeling lost, and confused but sometimes it complicated things a lot more. I feel overwhelmed with all that I feel AND ALL MY THOUGHTS, it kinda freaks me out and I get even more confused than what I was, I dont know what I am gonna do.😭😭😭😭AND on top of that I am a perfectionist. If there is hell somewhere on Earth I feel like its inside my own mind 😭😭. May god bless me.

Query Skipping boring days is killing my journaling habit
Some days I open my journal and just stare at it because the day was so boring. Then I skip a couple of days, get lazy and stop writing even on days when things actually happened. WHAT DO I DO?
SUCH NICE IDEAS IN THE COMMENTS! Thank you guys <3

Loneliness
I don’t know what is happening in my life
I failed all my MBBS exams , got rejected by my best friend when I assumed she liked me after she called me her soul mate, now I am just scrolling all day, gaming , watching porn or adult manwhas and doing it . I lash on my parents , whenever I go out with new people I feel anxious , I fall into repeated patterns of self rotting
I don’t want to repeat the year, but i don’t think I can change or move from this hole , I am too deep into this
I feel depressed lonely and people call this state CHUD
I only function when my brain stops thinking
After hours of doomscrolling, or listening to impulsive songs, masturbation
How should I move on
Lord save me

Wet the page first, then applied burnt umber, cadmium yellow, and burnt sienna straight from the scraper, no water yet, then sprayed it and tilted the page in different directions to let the color flow and pool, blotting and respraying as needed. Dropped in ultramarine blue and used a dotting tool to suggest something like trees, then went back in with the scraper for more horizontal movement and softened it all with a brush. Added a bit more burnt umber in the bottom right to ground the piece and lead the eye through it. Also, if you look closely in the upper right, those little pink specks weren't intentional, they transferred from an earlier piece I made on the opposite page. Decided to just let it stay instead of fighting it, felt fitting for how experimental this whole piece was.

Query Does anyone else feel like they’re a completely different person depending on who they’re around?
Not in a fake way, just that different people bring out different sides of you. Sometimes I wonder which version is actually the most “me.”

User's Own Pages A5 appreciation post: She sees multitudes
My sketchbook acts as a junk journal, memory keeper, bullet journal, planner and commonplace. I have a smaller version I do more of my planning in because it's easier to carry around, but I pull this one out when I need a larger canvas.
This journal cover was made from an A5 Agenda 52 binder planner, just like my smaller A6 one. I love having two that are the same basic system, just different sizes. I find that I still work the same way in all my journals: carry it, write, draw, notes, ect. So no journal for just one subject could survive, because I was always jotting other stuff in it. Dream journals would never get used, but commonplace books would have drawings, sketchbooks would have recipies, ect. This way I just grab the size I need and date the page and none of it matters anymore. For my archiving I call this size the "Crew." Like on a movie set (this one does all the heavy lifting ☺️). This is my 4th Crew book.
The first few images are of my key system. I borrowed this idea from bullet journaling, but I make it more for introspection then I do tasks. I included alchemical symbols and other helpful modern symbols to help me mark what specific sections are about. This helps me see patterns over time, helps me think about my life in meaningful ways (a moment to connection, rather then just saying I called my sister. A moment of transformation, rather then a very difficult afternoon building a stupid desk) and adds some little pictographs to my daily bland pages.
As always, I have to be able to carry plenty of ink colors and I need a lot of space for bobbles. I love that I can have all of my little tid bits without having to remember "I need the book and the pencil pouch and the folder, and maybe I can fit this in here..." Instead it's just: grab the book, toss in bag, go *but maximally*
How are y'all handling your little tidbits, bobbles, and snippits?
