I'm in Southern California and there's a Daiso near me selling small planners that come in a clear cover that almost perfectly fits a Field Notes notebook. Note that it is just a little bit tall. The last photo shows what the planners look like for those wanting to pick one up. Only $2.25. And Daiso's stationery game is strong, too. Pens, stamps, glue tape, pencil cases... it's a good time.

For any fellow crafty Field Notes lovers out there…just a reminder that you can convert the pinback buttons into needle minders for your cross stitch/embroidery/sewing projects!🪡

After looking around for a while, I finally settled on the Pirate Goods Quartermaster V4 — and I absolutely love it!
The craftsmanship, the leather, the overall design… everything just feels right. It’s exactly what I was looking for to carry my Field Notes every day.
I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I can already tell this is going to be a daily companion for a long time.
Sometimes you find something that just clicks. This is definitely one of those things.

I had an idea where I ended up customising the mini field notes get on the list book.

I chucked some paper in, stapled, cut the edges and customised the cover to give it its own unique use.

Until I get a space pen (which I so would love to have!!) I use mini pens to keep everything compact. Whilst they are amazing and take up little space, I always find they run out or block at the most annoying moment. And as much as I LOVE letting my brain out in my field notes - I simply hate testing my pens out on them! To me I don’t want a separate full field notes to be my tester so what better way than to fill one of these with a few pages that will take very little to no room in my EDC pouch? Plus I’m sure I could grab or buy some off people when I run out.

Have any of you done similar?

Long time lurker, first time poster! I normally don't jot down this many quotes in my notebook, but I was reading this article at the time: https://themorningnews.org/annie-dillard-and-the-writing-life/

I've tried a lot of FN covers, setups, and so on. Lately, this is what's been working for me:

• Clear vinyl cover made by DIALOG NOTEBOOK. It's nice to be able to see the FN cover while also having a little bit of protection and a slim profile.
• The metal decimal chart from DDC tucked in the back gives my notebook some heft and structure. (The structure is especially nice for clipping a pen or pencil on - more grip to the clip, lol.)
• See the 'staple' text and the Thoreau quote? I wrote those with a Lamy 2000 <F> and Diamine Registrar's Blue-Black Ink. Beautiful feel, no feathering or bleed-through. The basic, non-special-edition FNs bleed and feather plenty...however, I've found that the ones with Domtar or Cougar innards work just fine with drier fountain pen inks. (Sailor pigment ink in an EF or F fountain pen also works pretty nicely on these innards.)

...I would write more but my cat has urgent demands for love and cuddles.

Home made Field Notes calendar. Always looking for ideas to try.

No round edges bcz at that time I was a naive..

I also never got to use this one as it was made of printer paper def not good enough..

Cover is made of US POLO Ass. Shopping bag bcz it matched thr field notes cover colours..

I used it for only 3-4 days and gave up and customised a cheap pocket notebook for my own needs made it a tank (reveal that tank later)

I’ve had these for a couple of years and only recently joined this sub, so I wanted to show them off. They’re some of my favorites, which is why I haven’t used them yet. I just learned that the black one glows in the dark too, which makes it that much cooler.

I’m really not an impulsive shopper, but I had to pick these up, and I’m glad I did because they are sold out on the Field Notes website. They are done exceptionally well. I feel like Field Notes has a great balance of usefulness, design, and artistry all combined into their notebooks. These really are a joy to look at.

I’m a field notes addict and my husband knows it lol. He has fun making new leather covers with different types/colors of leather. This time for our trip to Italy he thought it would be cool to have Italian leather passport covers that also conveniently fit our field notes we are taking. Featured is my stickered up original craft in lined style for journaling. Leather is Pueblo leather from Tuscany.

A very shinny switch. The Black Ice was interesting. Weird to not have any staples. Made it hard to write near the center edges at different times.

Anyone else keep their “I Voted” stickers in their Field Notes?

Happy Tuesday! Here are scans of the Paletas Set B Field Notes notebooks (FNC-71b). You're invited to reply with photos of the cover of your used/decorated Field Notes of the same edition! Link to Field Notes Brand edition page here. What edition would you like to see next?

Note: This post is part of an ongoing reference project. See pinned post for Master Index (or link here).

My 5-pack from the USPS Postal Store just rolled in. Graph paper inside, and every book's rocking a different Lowriders forever stamp, canceled with the First Day of Issue postmark from San Diego (3/13/26).

These are way too pretty to write grocery lists in... which is exactly what I'm going to do.

I finally found the right person to make me a custom field note cover.
Left Foot Leather made me a notebook cover that can hold 2 field notes or a passport, any inserts in between, and an open slip for say airplane ticket.
He really knocked this one out of the park, do follow him on instagram he took better pics of the project at @leftfootleather

Just recently got into journaling, and chose the pocket notebook format because it seems less intimidating to fill a small page. I started my subscription with Paletas, which was very fortunate! Now I received Hunter's Moon and I'm a bit confused. I will use sketchbooks for sketches, however I'm not sure what to do with lined notebooks. I don't want to use them for daily journaling, because I like the idea of having uniformed past-journal box.

What do you do with them? My only idea right now is maybe have a media journal and write down books/movies that I read and watch and small reviews.

I ordered the new packs (along with a few others 😄 ) last week on 10/7, and it still says my order is processing on Oct 13 -- is this the norm? I haven't ordered from FN since last year. I chose the standard economy shipping.

Making my own pocket notebook motivates me to fill it up. I find myself writing much more than when I buy Field Notes.

I carry my field notes with me everywhere so any notes or interesting things I want to save gets stuffed in there. I’d love to save these notes with the notebook I had when I got them but can’t think of a way to store them in there long term.

Completely separate question:
How many pocket notebooks have you gone through so far this year? I was shocked to see I’ve only finished four and will probably only finish another one before the end of 2026.

Here is a curling scorebook I made!

I keep all my field notes in a card board box. But I'm looking to change that. I want to build a shelf to display them. P.S. 90% are waiting to be used.

I’m in love.
Finally got my hands on a set of Harvest!
