My sketchbook acts as a junk journal, memory keeper, bullet journal, planner and commonplace. I have a smaller version I do more of my planning in because it's easier to carry around, but I pull this one out when I need a larger canvas.
This journal cover was made from an A5 Agenda 52 binder planner, just like my smaller A6 one. I love having two that are the same basic system, just different sizes. I find that I still work the same way in all my journals: carry it, write, draw, notes, ect. So no journal for just one subject could survive, because I was always jotting other stuff in it. Dream journals would never get used, but commonplace books would have drawings, sketchbooks would have recipies, ect. This way I just grab the size I need and date the page and none of it matters anymore. For my archiving I call this size the "Crew." Like on a movie set (this one does all the heavy lifting ☺️). This is my 4th Crew book.
The first few images are of my key system. I borrowed this idea from bullet journaling, but I make it more for introspection then I do tasks. I included alchemical symbols and other helpful modern symbols to help me mark what specific sections are about. This helps me see patterns over time, helps me think about my life in meaningful ways (a moment to connection, rather then just saying I called my sister. A moment of transformation, rather then a very difficult afternoon building a stupid desk) and adds some little pictographs to my daily bland pages.
As always, I have to be able to carry plenty of ink colors and I need a lot of space for bobbles. I love that I can have all of my little tid bits without having to remember "I need the book and the pencil pouch and the folder, and maybe I can fit this in here..." Instead it's just: grab the book, toss in bag, go *but maximally*
How are y'all handling your little tidbits, bobbles, and snippits?
