The Jacksonville Jaguars are just the second NFL team in the Super Bowl era to go their first five games without allowing a single opposing player to rush for 40+ yards, joining the 1969 Dallas Cowboys.

NFL Competition: WIN this Painted Trevor Lawrence Football!
Some of you may remember last week I shared a post on here about some artwork I’d done for the NFL to celebrate the London Games.
Everyone was so kind about it so I just wanted to share here that the NFL are now running a competition to win the hand painted football which celebrates that historic match up between the Jaguars and the Eagles, with paintings of both Quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Jalen Hurts facing off!
To enter the competition simply follow the link below to the NFL’s Instagram;

[@DanDGriffis] If the #Jaguars beat the #Texans , they’ll have ~95% chance to make the playoffs per @PFF . The #Texans have the most at stake this weekend with a 29.9% swing. (17.3% if lose, 47.1% if win)

Our run defense these last two weeks
In back to back weeks, we have not allowed more than 25 yards rushing in back to back weeks. It's only happened 6 other times in the superbowl era.

1st time in over 14,000 NFL games
Y'all, saw this stat from SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt on Sunday night:
First game with 2 go-ahead scores in final 10 seconds of 4th quarter in the Super Bowl era (from 1966).
First time in over 14,000 games...
We will, indeed, never see this again.

Been a great season to start Watching football with my kid
My kid Picked out a couple jerseys at a yard sale over the summer becasue they looked "cool", one of those was for the jaguars so I figured we'd start watching on Sundays and boy has it been great. The other was an old (dolphins) tyreek hill jersey... thats been a hard watch but the Jax are doing great lol.

Heading in to Week 6, the Jaguars rank as the #3 overall defense by Weighted EPA per play (trailing only the Seahawks and Vikings), and are #1 against the run.

Attempting to understand our defense
Getting all my stats from PFR: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2026/opp.htm
Everyone knows about our rush defense at this point. I’m trying to understand more about our pass rush and why there is such variance in how people feel about it. If you have any opinions or ideas please let’s discuss.
We currently have 11 sacks which is middle of the pack tied for 13th in the league with 8 other teams. We are currently #7 in pressure% at 26.8%. We are also #18 in the league in blitz rate, sending a blitz 25% of the time (Vikings blitz an insane 65%). So our front 4 is doing good work on paper, nothing mind blowing but these number are comparable to other respectable teams like the Bills, 49ers, and Patriots. These numbers actually blow out a team like the Chiefs who blitz significantly more often and have only 4(!) sacks on the year with a lower pressure rate. So this begs the question, WHY are so many people unhappy with the production of the D-line???
Some other significant defensive stats: Currently giving up the third MOST passing yards in the entire NFL 1331 😬. Almost the same as the Rams and Seahawks combined. Only 4 passing TDs though 😁! Tied for second BEST in the league??? What an insane discrepancy! Teams average 7.0 yards per passing attempt against us which is 6th worst in the league, with an average depth of target of 8.9 yards which is equally bad.
All of these stats seem to point to an issue in the coverage more than the actual pass rush. Are we allowing too much separation? Are we blowing coverages? Are we too conservative in our zones to allow “underneath” stuff to consistently go for moderate gains? As for the pass rush, I felt like we are just missing highlight moments. They are statistically solid on a down to down basis but we are missing a couple quick pressures or sacks on key downs that stick out in our brains as to say “Yeah our pass rush dominated today”. Maybe some plays where they bail out our secondary for missing an assignment or biting on a double move will help us realize the value they are generating.

Graphs of Opponents Played and Opponents Left to Play.
4-2 or 5-1 in our first six. Ecstatic, but gotta execute. Reminds me a lot of last season’s schedule. Graphics from PFF.

Jags Ravens watch party at Vystar Ballpark
Anyone know if they’re bringing in any additional LED screens or projectors for the watch party against the Ravens? The screens at the ballpark aren’t that big so I’m curious if they’re bringing in something bigger or just using what’s there. Seems like it would be cool but don’t wanna be watching the game on the outfield scoreboard lol
