I bought a used flash modded 6th Gen with tapitic enginge. Today I tried the shell Swap... Well Bad Idea I guess. I noticed that he used the Chinese flash Adapters and exchanged it for an iflash. Sadly the battery clip (the Brown one) is also gone and replaced by a tie ZIP. You need some pressure on that battery so that the iPod does not Power Off directly.

But to the Point...

I disassembled the Backplate First and then the Front Plate.

My First Test after the Frontplate and clickwheel Swap was semi. The iPod wanted to Boot into Rockbox which was Not installed anymore and the new clickwheel was unresponsive. I reattached it a few times to no avail. The Hold Switch worked up to this Point: Rockbox bootloader told me that it was on or Off after moving it.

After some fiddeling and exchanging for the old one: the old one works.

But now my Headphone jack is now unresponsive, as well as the Hold Switch which does not show a locked Icon anymore. I barely touched the cables. Was more fiddeling with the clickwheel...

How screwed am I?

Second 80s theme for the iPod Classic. This one is pure VHS night: neon on purple, TV scanlines and your VCR’s on-screen display.

What’s in it:

• Now Playing: album art with a neon frame, a big condensed title, and a neon equalizer that moves with the music.
• VCR-style status bar: ▶ PLAY / II PAUSE and “SP 1:24”, just like the old tape decks. Spin the wheel and it shows the volume.
• Pause it and it turns into a clock: giant time, the date and the song underneath.
• Neon menus with a glowing cyan selector, plus a mini player with album art while music is playing.

Works on: iPod Classic 6G/7G (320×240) running Rockbox 4.0. Tested on my 7G.

Install: unzip, copy the folders into .rockbox on your iPod (merge, don’t replace), then Settings > Theme Settings > Browse Theme Files > NeonVHS.

Bonus: an optional language file renames “Database” to “Music” and “Plugins” to “Extras”.

I tried installing Rockbox (Failed numerous times, just won't take)

Now I've attempted to restore my ipod

But I cant find the restore button?

It mounts like a USB Drive, but I am unable to find restore anywhere?

Ive tried erasing and reformatting, first aid, etc nothing works

Any help or guidance would be appreciated!

The songs dont load to the actual ipod BTW, that was a tester

I picked up an iPod 5.5 which from the start on did not charge and was not read as disk when conected to my iMac.
The iPod was still charged and worked without fault, except charging and syncing.
I tried to contact the previous owner about info how he charged the iPod, but got no info until now.

I ordered a replacement battery, which was precharged luckily, but the symptoms still remained.

When checking with a NFRSI, I see only a minimum charge like 0.08A.

The Logicboard shows no sign of a blown chip near the battery cable.
I checke the battery connector, connection is good, flexcable slides in smoothly
and lock mechanism of the battery connector works fine.

Any ideas what could be the issue here?
(Faulty Logicboard would be worst case)

I'm not having ANY luck with ordering a faceplate from the places that i wanted to. Atomicfaceplates have whatever is going on with them, and for some reason, I can't register an account with iPodmania to order from them, and they haven't responded to my email. It's pretty frustrating, but if anyone has other recommendations for an atomic face plate that's good quality and not crazy expensive, lmk.

I've seen that there are board replacements out there for these, but I'm a balanced audio snob and I'm curious if anyone has figured out how to convert one to 2.5/4.4mm output.

Hey all. I got a 4th gen monochrome with a bad battery and hard drive. Fixed those issues then had to do a restore with iTunes. Now I'm stuck on the wall plug screen and don't have a FireWire cable or power source. Does anyone know a way to get past this?

Hi hi! I’ve had my refurb 6th gen about 3 years now and I love her. I recently noticed that she needs surgery, so I was considering upgrading/ replacing other problem areas (click wheel is persnickety, upgrading from hard drive, and so on) so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on where to source new parts.

it was much smaller the day before, thankfully i have another one.

I know I already posted something like this, but i am so desperate on getting this damn thing fixed😭😭 so what happened was my girlfriend bought a IPod Classic off EBay. She wanted Rockbox so she can listen to her music in FLAC files, I told her just use MP3 files, she didn’t want to.

Anyways I’ll get to the point. Rockbox installed but after that, My PC didn’t want to recognize it so there was no point since I couldn’t add music. I was stuck in the Rockbox Bootloader, so I went to the original OS. It told me it needed to be restored to ITunes. I got an error on my PC. I switched to a laptop. Nothing. I switched to my old MacBook. Still nothing.

What I tried:
Tried restoring it through ITunes
Tried formatting it to Fat32
Tried using other apps like Fat32Formatter, GUIFormat, AOMEI, EaseUs Partition, MiniTool Partition and nothing.

I even got a lifetime EaseUs Partition in case it worked. Nothing. I checked the smart data, I don’t know if that means much but yeah. It’s pretty obvious I know nothing about these but the video looked easy enough. Is there any way I can fix this? I been trying to fix this ever since I woke up and it’s 12am for me😭 any advice helps. Let me know if I’m just cooked.
