It has been my recurrent source of home decor inspiration. I wish Ikea made more of them. The book reminds me of the domino edition ones. So many timeless ideas.

Assembly Hogbo hinge won’t fully screw into door lip?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

i’m really at my wits end with these doors!

i’ll start by saying that yes i did read the manual, but for all three hinges, while attaching to the door at points A, B and C as directed, the screws will barely tighten three rotations before they won’t budge anymore. I’ve tried with multiple screw driver heads, but they seriously will not move at all past that point!

i’m able to slide the mechanism up and down the track with a little bit of force (not sure if this part is intentional? couldn’t find much info on that on the ikea website, in the manual or online) and it seems kind of wobbly in the lip of the door itself, with the middle hinge (C) popping out entirely when I tried to open the hinge. even with a LOT of force, that hinge refuses to move to the ‘open’ position.

is this normal? should i request different hinges? i’ve followed all instructions so far in the manual but it shows these screws being able to be tightened a lot more in the diagram. i really can’t tell if this is fine and i’m overthinking it, or if it’s a faulty part/improper assembly :(

i’d really appreciate if anyone with more experience with these doors could weigh in!

General Mounting a monitor arm to an IKEA IDASEN desk

Hi, just as the title suggests I was curious if anyone knows if it is safe to mount a monitor arm to the IKEA IDASEN (non standing version), or is the tabletop too fragile and will it risk breaking or bending using an arm. I was considering purchasing one this weekend and mounting my 27inch monitor to it, but was a bit scared when I heard the inside is like a honeycomb paper filling or something, but I also read that for many people they didn't have any issues and saw some YouTube videos where people mounted their monitors and it seemed fine. Thanks :)

General How do I order this Pax unit? 100cm + 100cm with sliding doors + 50cm with a hinged door?

I'm trying it on the customiser, but choosing any door applies it to every section.

I've tried doing it with the 50cm unit separated from the rest but that doesn't work either.

As a bonus question, is it possible to copy over my design from the Pax customiser to a room in the 'Kreativ' design tool?

Assembly PAX hinge issues

Post image
2 Upvotes

We’re currently setting up our PAX wardrobes (three in total) and have run into an issue with the doors and hinges.

All the doors appear to be identical, with no left- or right-specific versions. To install a door on the opposite side of a wardrobe, we’ve had to flip it upside down.

Initially, everything looked fine, but we’ve since noticed that the hinges sit at different heights when the doors are flipped. This limits where we can install shelves and drawers inside the wardrobes.

Are we missing something in the assembly process, or is there a different way the doors are meant to be installed?
Thanks for your help!

General IKEA BESTÅ, enough space and airflow for consoles?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m moving out soon and considering the BESTÅ setup for my TV. I’d put my Xbox One in one of the open compartments and keep another free for a future console.

My main concern is whether the openings are tall enough and provide enough airflow to keep the consoles cool.

Ideally, I’d like doors that cover only half the height instead of roughly three-quarters, but I can’t find that option.

Any suggestions?

General separate shelves for Knoxhult 40 cm?

Product: 503.267.89

Are there separate shelves available for the Knoxhult 40 cm? I can hardly believe they aren't offered. I'd like to drill additional holes in a cabinet so I can have more than just the one shelf that comes with it. For my bathroom, I need dividers that are shorter than the 2x 35 cm ones.

Looking for Clear plastic Kallax inserts?

I use several Kallax units as storage in my hobby shed, mostly for storing fabric. I'd love to have the fabric stacked in clear plastic bins so I can easily see what's inside, but I am mystified that IKEA doesn't seem to offer this, and I haven't found any third party options in the right size either. Ideally these would come with a lid, but beggars can't be choosers. Anyone know of a secret source of clear plastic kallax inserts? What does everyone else use to stash fabric in kallax? I'm currently using open-top fabric/cardboard inserts with a clear panel (from Amazon), but these clear plastic bins have become a slightly odd obsession, because I don't understand why they don't exist, and doesn't everyone want them?

Design advice Set positions: mostly beneficial to petit locations/mall notations.

(So sorry for my wall of text but, I been thinking abt this)
-
Genuine good job market idea. Gives more opportunities, brings in more employees with higher sell rates, gives larger opportunities both in growth and position.
IKEA could probably rlly benefit from something like this. ‘Large/specific set’ actors. Helps people understand the use of product better as well as gaining attention to the set.
It would bring a massive part time job pool into the arena of jobs, as well as most likely, better customer gain with performance and sales.
-
I honestly found it a bit surprising they’d launch smaller locations at select malls before this, it would make more sense to officiate this role before opening mall locations. Especially since they’re the most beneficial at malls

I’m just wondering why the shelf pegslots have two higher positions in the front. I understand the need to lean the shelves back to stop books from falling, but almost 3 inches is crazy!

Looking for Trying to find a desk top

Hi, like five or six years ago I bought what I believe to be a Lagkapten/alex in Toronto Ontario Canada, except now I’m trying to get a new desktop and I can’t find this colour? I can only find straight white the grey or the black. I’m going to be honest this seems like hell to me. I hate those ones I love this one. The desktop is shredded to bits, has water damaged, and stained to hell and back. I need a new one but getting what I think the available colours are seems like actual hell to me. Can anyone see if they can find the product I actually bought? Because I DID buy it here. Thanks for any help

General Extremely Poor Product Quality and Customer Service – IKEA Canada

I purchased the MALM/STORKLINTA bedroom furniture set directly from IKEA North York store, expecting the quality and reliability associated with such a well-known company. Unfortunately, my experience has been terrible, both with the product and with IKEA's customer service.

The bed broke within weeks. It was fine for the first month, but over the following 15 days, the bed repeatedly disconnected from the headboard. Then, one early morning, the bed suddenly broke and collapsed. Thankfully, my thick mattress supported me and prevented what could have been a serious safety issue. A bed should not fail like this after such a short period of use.

The problems did not end with the product. Getting IKEA to resolve the issue has turned into an exhausting experience.

I submitted a negative review directly on IKEA's website, but it never appeared publicly. This raises serious concerns about how IKEA moderates customer reviews and whether negative feedback is being filtered out. Customers deserve to see genuine experiences, both positive and negative, before making a purchase.

The return and pickup process has been equally frustrating. My first pickup was scheduled for the beginning of last week. I stayed home and missed work, but nobody showed up. I then spent around 30 minutes waiting to connect with customer service, only to deal with slow responses and repeated disconnections.

During one particularly frustrating interaction, an agent named Adithya disconnected the chat after nearly an hour of back-and-forth communication. I had to contact customer service again and reschedule the pickup for this week. Once again, nobody collected the bed.

At 9 a.m., I received a message saying the truck was on its way. At 11:45 a.m., I was told the truck was waiting outside, despite receiving no call or meaningful communication to let me know the driver had arrived. I subsequently received a message stating that the pickup had been missed.

The following day, another agent called me without apparently knowing that the same pickup had already been missed twice under the same case number. This lack of coordination and awareness is unacceptable.

I have now been asked to reschedule the pickup for this weekend. After two failed attempts, I have little confidence that this one will be any different. I even asked whether IKEA could issue my refund first and arrange collection at a later time, but I received no response.

For a major company like IKEA Canada, this level of product quality, communication, and customer service is deeply disappointing. Customers should not have to sacrifice work hours, spend hours in customer service chats, repeatedly explain the same case, and chase a company for a refund after receiving a defective product.

Here is my challenge to IKEA Canada: complete the scheduled pickup this weekend and process my refund, or provide a clear resolution without putting me through another failed appointment. I have already given IKEA multiple opportunities to resolve this fairly.

I bought this bed expecting a reliable product. Instead, I received a product that failed within weeks and a customer service experience that has wasted my time and caused unnecessary stress.

IKEA needs to take responsibility for both the product failure and the way it treats customers when something goes wrong. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product or the customer service behind it.

I bought a Lagkapten tabletop for my setup and I have noticed a couple odd things. I bought this maybe less than two months ago and almost instantly there was a chip, I never brought any sharp items near it only my laptop 2 monitors and a Xbox sits on it. Also today I have noticed that the sides and top part are separating. I know ikea desks are hollow and have cardboard hexagons inside but I didn’t know it’s this weak.

Tips & Tricks Is it possible to set an automatic schedule for the dimmable light bulbs?

Post image
56 Upvotes

I would like to create my own sunrise alarm clock but lamp only. A lot of the sunrise alarm clocks are either 1- very expensive and/or have a monthly subscription or 2- have a less gradual light up and I’d like them to be softer. Additionally, it would be nice to use the lamp as needed in the evenings etc and then have it slowly turn on in the mornings to add light to my bedroom, automatically at 7:00 or what have you.

I’ve seen some hacks on TikTok etc about using a Google home hooked up to it, but I’m hoping to do it without an additional app or product, just via the IKEA app. From what I can gather, there is a schedule mode on the app but I can’t explore it without adding the products to it, which I don’t have yet.

Anyone who uses the IKEA home with dimmable lightbulbs, can you tell me if it’s possible to schedule something like:

- 7:00 very dim/10%
- 7:10 dim/20%
- 7:20 dim/30% etc etc?

General DW end of run minimum support

For a dishwasher at end of cabinet run would a 5/8" cover panel and fixa rail cabinet supporr suffice, and would the panel need to be secured to the floor? The countertop will be laminate. Don't have much room and looking to keep the width to a minimum. It is beside the fridge and will see a bit of heavier activity eg unloading groceries. Appreciate any comments.
