Question EU5 1.4.1 Insane amount of Antagonism bug or freature?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Just started as Flander. Joined HRE. Trying to grab some juicy lowland country. but the Antagonism seems wrong???? What's all those modifiers?!?! And Messing with HRE?? I'm inside the HRE bro!

I think not being inside HRE will double the Antagonism. Right now, just grabbing 1 province of 25+ Antagonism will get me 100+ Antagonism, is that normal for having x4 Multiplier.

Advice Wanted EU5 cannot place local governors

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hello, I am playing Milan and I won the Italian Wars. I am not a signoria anymore. I cannot build a governor in my cities due to "The combined total of lieutenancy and local governor in Milan is less than 3 (Governors 0, lieutenancies 0)".

I have no governors, no lieutenancies, why is this happening?

Question how to restart the Great Pestilence situation yourself.

The Great Pestilence didn't do its job at decreasing the population in America at all. The first place I colonised was the antilles, so it spawned on an island and did nothing.

Now I've been trying to get it started again but to no avail. I've tried spawn_disease great_pestilence [location id] and situation great_pestilence, but it doesn't want to work.

It's really starting to break my immersion.

Discussion About the mamluks

Does anyone have a way to disable the Egyptian plague, the mamluks are my favourite nation to play and the disaster just makes it a not fun experience at all, I hate that I can't take any action against it, it would have been much better if it was just one giga wave that decimated your population instead of just constantly pummeling you, at least add some actions or a unique building like sewers to combat it a little.

R5: I hover over tolerance of the true faith
It recognizes that's what I'm hovering over... and brings up the entire embellishment tooltip, that was already visible.

Hover over tolerance of the truth faith again.
It's a modifier to toler- oh my fucking god, really?

Hover over Tolerance.

Finally get a vague explanation, which doesn't actually really tell me anything.

R5 cannot stabilise my economy as England. I was going great guns, then lost the HYW. Then I had to fight off a civil war. I’ve sold off lots of artwork to pay off my poxy loans. I’ve killed off most of my castles, I haven’t got that many unprofitable buildings. Most things are set to auto whilst I am learning. But I now see another uprising in Ireland on the way..

After swallowing Lithuania, the Principality of Kyiv, and the surrounding minor states, I have finally formed the Kingdom of Prussia.

Now, the real objective begins: dismantle the HRE and unite the German lands under one banner to forge a true German Empire.

The Holy Roman Empire will fall, and Germany will rise from its ashes.

Ein Reich, ein Volk, ein Deutschland!

Advice Wanted Completely lost on economy

I played as Holland since it was a recommended economy country.

I read the starting advice, built some marketplaces, got some income going. Always made sure to build the highest profit margin buildings.

All the while my income slowly goes down each month. I constantly get “unprofitable building” alerts. I try downgrading the buildings but that only ticks down my income.

England declared on me, and I thought that gave me a good way out because I had Bohemia and Austria on my side. We curb stomped england and I fleeced them good, took flanders and a bunch of money. Thought I had it made.

Then everything just got worse and worse, and my income just kind of entered a death spiral with a balance of -16 every month by 1384, then the hooks and cods started, my legitimacy is now at -.40, and I don’t really know where to go from here.

It’s the third playthrough as Holland where my income has abruptly entered freefall, and I’m hoping someone can explain this to me, because it seems like building things to boost my income actually decreases income…. But I’m sure there has to be -some- way to build an economy, but after sifting through the menus I haven’t been able to find any phantom secret expenses tanking my income, so I thought I should just put out a call for help.

Please and thank you.

Question EU4 to EU5

Hello all. I have lurked here for many months to see what’s up with this game. I’ve played EU4 since high school so little under 10 years.

I am very comfortable with EU4 yet I’ve wanted to try EU5 out for a while. Is this game worth the price? Is EU5 better than 4? Is there a healthy mod community? I understand these are different games but how different is really what I’m interested in.

A while ago I saw a post on here saying the game was fun but not fully developed or thought out yet. This prevented me from buying the game at the time. So I want to hear people’s thoughts before I purchase this and dive into for the next 10 years.

Question How stable is EU5 on DLC launches?

I've been thinking of finally buying EU5 when the 1.4 update drops in about 2 weeks. I normally don't play Paradox games when DLCs launch / directly after this period because they're always incredibly buggy and unbalanced, but I was thinking it might be okay for EU5, because it's the only Paradox game to do open betas prior to the official release of updates.

How was stability with the previous updates which had open betas preceding them? Were they relatively stable? I'd be grateful to get some insight from current players of the game!

Question Is the british enclosure act good?

Allowing the enclosure act, give increased urban migration and attraction from rural locations. Does that mean that, as the rural locations empty, they would get more pop growth from free land? Is urban attraction ideal for getting lots of pops in the cities?

Discussion Burgher power still out of whack? (Too high)

I’m in my second playthrough as a nation with a traditional economy and a light aristocracy. I’ve also made a point to, except in special circumstances, only found one urban location per province. I have decent trade income, but I try to trade mainly to foster domestic industry, and I import rare goods at a loss. My burgher estate has just three privileges (market fairs, development & roads), no representation in Parliament, and I try to limit their estate buildings as much as possible.

Despite all this, in the age of absolutism, the burghers have almost 20% estate power, more than double that of the nobility (the crown has ~63%). As far as I can tell, they derive the majority of it from raw population rather than modifiers, though local buffs from market buildings obviously play a huge role too. Their power has grown from essentially nothing over the course of the game to match my rate of urbanization, with no sign of slowing down.

I don’t have any suggestions offhand, I’m just curious how others feel about this. Is it actually just historically accurate that the middle class would gain this much political sway in an urbanizing age? Does one simply need to forgo having strong trade in order to keep the burghers in check? (Which would especially be a bummer considering the benefit of market access given by market buildings, for the sake of industry.) Or is this one more thing that ought to be fixed?

Image How do I fix constant negative manpower?

I'm stuck on -200 manpower. I have no idea how to replenish my professional troops. I've tried increasing maintenance and trying to find a building which could help. I tried googling it to no avail. I only have 2 professional units. They were fully stocked just fine for decades, I lost some in a war, and now a few decades later they still don't want to reinforce.

Please help

Discussion I bought a monitor just to play paradox games

I'm loving this game, and it worth the money, but I was going blind trying to read everything

My current monitor is a 21,5 inch VA monitor, and it's not even full HD, I'm not the kind of guy who spends much money on keyboards, monitors, or things like that, but I decided to buy one, and I hope it'll last for decades

I bought a 27-inch 2.5K IPS monitor, will I notice a big difference? And will I finally be able to read those damn texts?

Video Two Centuries That Made Spain: The History Behind EU5's Across the Pillars

Hello everyone! Today we've published a slightly late, Tinto Talk 128, you can find that here:

But beyond that, we also wanted to present you with something new for Europa Universalis V that we’ve been working on. A new video Two Centuries That Made Spain: The History Behind EU5's Across the Pillars.

https://youtu.be/bm3gMRmOwQU

This is a project in which we collaborated with our very own lead Content Designer's Alma Mater, the University of Valladolid, to bring closer to the players the real History behind Across the Pillars, and how we have been working to represent it in the DLC. We hope that you enjoy it! Let us know below if you'd like to see more historical content like this in the future.
