Robbed at Pedros on Florida Road in broad daylight , please be aware

On Thursday, 8 October, at around 10:45am, my Samsung S26 Ultra was stolen from my pocket while I was in Pedros on Florida Road. I had just bought Yogi Berry and a soft serve.

I chased the man and caught up with him as he got into a moving getaway car with three other men. During the struggle, I was hit on the back of my head with a hard object and dragged approximately 10 metres. I was left injured and bruised.

The attached map shows a location reported for my phone afterwards in Durban CBD. It is separate from where the robbery happened, and I cannot confirm who has the phone or which premises it is inside.

I’m sharing this because it happened in broad daylight while I was simply buying something for a staff member. Please be alert around entrances, courtyards and parked vehicles.

Has anyone else experienced something similar around Florida Road? If you witnessed this incident or have relevant information, please message me privately.

Visiting King Dinuzulu Hospital first time?

Hi all just wanted some advice with visiting the dental clinic at King Dinuzulu. How early should I get there? What's the process? And do they remove wisdom teeth same day if it's possible? I have severely impacted wisdoms I'm hoping they can help with

“It is also a moment worth recognising under our Code of Honour: Celebrate Every Win. Goodson, who has been with Excellerate since 2002, will receive a Distinguished Conduct Award for his actions. We are proud to recognise him.”

They could have given him a bonus or something at least.

Recommendation Where to fish in Durban?

Hey all! Will be the first time coming to Durban from halfway across the world next month and need some advice and recommendations for fishing spots and fishing gear setups, bait, etc. I am also wondering if there's a chance I can catch a kingfish here. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

(I am also wondering if Hazelmere dam would be a good idea to go. Would probably look for a fishing guide)

Picture Photos from the Cooper Light wreck off Treasure Beach (Durban Bluff)

I took these shots on Saturday on a dive with Durban Undersea Club. The wreck lies in 31 meters of water offshore from the Cooper Lighthouse. The actual identity of the wreck is unknown, but it's estimated to be around 80-100 years old. The pink and purple fish in the first photo is the KZN/Wild Coast endemic Harlequin Goldie (Pseudanthias connelli). These were originally discovered on this wreck and it's still the best place to see them in recreational scuba depths.

Rental housing tribunal

Has any tenant here had a positive experience with our tribunal? And was arbitration fair and thorough? I'm just curious as to everyone's experiences, especially relating to harrassment by the landlord? Are they worth going to?

To the solo beach swimmers/surfers

I've been a victim of leaving my things unattended at the beach and getting stolen. Even as far back as the early 2000s. I really want to start going to the beach more. I'm happy to leave everything in the car. But where do I leave my car keys? This is for anywhere along the promenade. I see that xpressions have lockers if you're renting from them but I'm not planning on renting anything.

How safe is it living in that Stockville Rd area?

Husband and I are separating and I need to get out with my kids fast. We live in Waterfall/Hillcrest and I really can't afford it on my own but I can't exactly move to say the Bluff or something where it might be cheaper because my kids go to school in the Hillcrest area. The closest I could find in my budget was an okay place in Stockville. In the past before moving to a complex with security, I was held at knife point and I'm absolutely terrified of something like that happening again especially now that I'm on my own with my 2 kids.

When the political elite, including those who have made themselves the judicial elites wants to feed the country to the dogs. The people will show them that this country does not belong to them, it belongs to the people.

Look at how everything is turning out because of that criminal Home Affairs directive as a response to an out of touch with reality judicial elite and their criminal judgement.

When people criticise that anti-South African judgement from Con Court so called experts call it "attack on constitution" as far as Democracy is concerned no one is above reproach. what we are witnessing is just a tip of the iceberg of what will happen in this country if it continues to go the way it is going being Anti-South African and pro Globalist.

SA v Aus - Greedy Bastards

Wow, the entire world is ripping the Durban public to shreds for the low attendance, but honestly we are being scammed.

Ticket pro lists tickets starting at R50 which is false advertising and utter bullshit.

The cheapest grass tickets are R200.

Daylight robbery in the middle of a cost of living crisis.

Everyone seems to forget that this is not Cape Town full of ultra rich Europeans, most of Durban struggles to put food on the table.

Fuck you to everyone involved in this sham.

Go Proteas!

Let's keep things civil

Right now there's a lot of debate going on in the subreddit, we as mods are trying our best to create a forum for people to voice their views on the matters affecting our city. We believe people should have the right to speak their mind.

That said, let's please all remember that we're all Durbanites here - keep it civil and respectful please. We're trying to not be too heavy handed in our moderation, but we'll need to step in if things keep escalating.

Be lekker.
