Spent the past week in Johannesburg. That city has a magic and energy that Cape Town lacks, it's so vibey, charismatic, and full of hustle. Yes, we have the nature, but they got the vibes. We should all be rooting for Joburg to get back to its absolute best.

Good morning I wanted advice about what questions they ask if you go there. I am currently homeless and looking to go to a shelter I have no real family but I don't know if they'll turn me away

I live in the northern suburbs, specifically Durbanville.
I am a lvl 2 autistic kid. I'm 17, but i have been playing piano since i was around 7-8, and I haven't touched my keyboard in the last 5 years. I started playing the drums, but i only had a year of lessons. I had to stop both because of medical reasons.
I do online schooling, so it can be any day, any time. I'm not allowed to drive, and im way more comfortable at home, so i would prefer home visits. Preferably a woman, but im fine with a man.
They dont need to be educated, but just understanding and willing to learn.
So does anybody know someone who teaches piano and drums (fine if just one) that is able to do home visits and is willing to work with autistic children?

Hi guys! I've recently taken an interest in sewing and would like to get started on making my own clothes. I love alt fashion, but the selection here is so limited. Im also a sensory sensitive person, so I'd like to make clothes with materials I know I like.
So, does anyone know a good spot that offers classes and a chance to make new friends? Any advice for beginners also welcome 🙏 Dankie for your time!

Hiiiiiii. I'm just really curious, does anyone know what all the fuss was about this morning on Long Street? Saw the hippo and an army van, guys with guns, crime scene tape.
Edit: UPDATE
I got the tea. Apparently the bank in town needed to do a cash transfer so they closed everything off and got the big guns out in case. At least no one was hurt. Yours truly, a small town girl living in the city lol

I'm broke this month but I love spoiling my GF with nice days out away from her stressful job. Any good ideas for free places to go on dates? She loves novelty and new interesting things or places. I've not lived in CT that long so I don't know all the good locations. She has lived here a while so any more unusual ideas or places to explore would be good.

Anyone have experience with taking legal action against Virgin Active?
I was seriously mislead joining Virgin Active Foreshore, which I believe is a violation of the Consumer Protection Act.
I joined Foreshore on the 24th of September. It was not disclosed to me by the sales person that the gym would be closing for renovations on the 9th of October (two weeks after) for an undisclosed amount of time. It could be many months based on other renovations.
After contacting the branch manager, they said "You can use any gym that is not a collection in the meantime". However, every gym in the Atlantic Seaboard/CBD is now a collection. The nearest non-collection club is in Constantia or Century City which is totally unrealistic as I live in Sea Point.
They told me I can cancel at a (large) fee. Is this a violation against of the Consumer Protection Act? If so, does anyone have any experience taking legal action against them?
Thanks!

Sorry for the bad picture but this family is notorious for their scams. They have got me once and almost got a few people that I know. They usually give the same kind of scam. Even asks you to hold their phone for "trust". Give a sob story that they an Indian family that came here from the floods in Durban and that Capetownians don't know how to treat Indians (so weird but ok). They often selling spices or asking you to pay to fix their car.

This is now happening too often in Cape Town and people have to sit without Power. This is the street around the corner from my house.

So I was traveling from the airport to Somerset West on Sunday via the N2 at around 6pm. I was in the fast lane and I noticed a white bakkie with small white flashing lights come up behind me going an insane speed.
I moved over slightly into the yellow lane on the right hand side so he could squeeze past me and the car in the middle lane. He zoomed past, and my first thought was, I really hope he needed to do that and is not some security guard taking a chance.
A few seconds later I was watching him ahead of me, and he turned is lights off and started to slow down. I was just starting to think to myself, what an ###, when suddenly he just smashes into the right hand side of a polo, smashing the polo into the left hand side barrier on the N2. He then went infront of the polo and completely cut him off.
At this point I realized something hard core is busy going down. Now unfortunately im getting closer and closer and there are no other cars infront, so I have now become the first car to "arrive" at this scene and I start to slow down and put my hazards on.
I also notice a police car on the right hand side of the road facing the opposite way, right near where this is going down. At this point I have stopped about 20m from the polo, white bakkie and police car in front of me.
At this point police jumped out of the police car and the white bakkie with hand guns. A single male in the polo climed out and started running, the one police man took an incredibly impressive take down, and the suspect was on the ground getting cuffed.
Now I tried to explain the scene in some detail but in reality this all took place in seconds. As soon as I saw they had the situation under control I drove between the police car and the scene and continued on my way.
It was then I was thinking to myself this must have been an insanely planned operation. They must have planned exactly where this will happen. The police car was on the opposite side facing the wrong direction which means they must of planned exactly where the bakkie will do the intercept.
All of this is going on on a Sunday afternoon when most families are probably prepping dinner. I was filled with pride and wish I could thank and congratulate that team for looking after us. It was a terrifying situation but they handled it like complete badasses.
Any cops out there, I salute you and thank you!

I'm a bass player looking for other musicians to start a band with or join an existing band. I'm comfortable with anything in the rock / punk spectrum and have a wide array of influences.
If anyone is interested, lets chat :)

Will be visiting from overseas for the test cricket later this month. Is there a pub with good atmosphere where people head after the day's play?
Family who used to live in Cape Town thought possibly Forries, but they're unsure if that's still the go-to / if more of a rugby thing?

Are there any former City Varsity students who attended the Cape Town branch have any details on City Varsity itself and if the Cape Town Branch is still open.
Reason Im asking is my younger brother was one of the students left high and dry when they closed (without properly notifying me) without any information and thousands down the drain. Now I have money still owed to them which i refuse to pay as my brother will not get his qualifications (did not finish his year) nor did I get any feedback or apologies. Now their creditors have reached out trying to get the money(over my dead body). Is there any way I can get into contact with anyone from City Varsity and find out what the hell is going on and where they find the audacity?

I go past this new build (The Everleigh) often and keep wondering how the land use application got approved.
I cannot wrap my head around the fact a building twice the height of the neighbouring lot, flanking the North and East, blocking the front of building and within ~5m. Only 2 sides could realistically get light and one is the bathrooms.
Does anyone have experience with a successful rejection?
Because this looks like textbook case for rejection.
