We live in a 2-bedroom at one of the Denton Student Apartments properties (the BHOM ones: The Quarter, Iconic Village, Zen, The Metro, etc.). Two of us.
Our old lease had a flat $75 per person for utilities. In August the new lease switched to Conservice billing. First statement: about $300 per person. The one that came this morning: $347 per person, so almost $700 for the apartment for one month.
One person's share for Aug 15 to Sep 15:
- Sewer $102
- Water $75
- Electricity $75 (metered per apartment, so that one is probably real)
- Gas $54
- Trash $10
- Internet fee $30 (we have our own internet, separate fight)
Double that for the unit. $200 for sewer and $150 for water, for two people, in one month.
Here is the part I can't get past. The water and sewer addendum in our own lease (the one they wrote) says the average monthly water and sewer bill per unit at this property last year was $27.68. We're being billed $354 for the unit. If you're at one of these properties, that number is in your lease too, paragraph 4 of the Water and Wastewater Allocation Addendum.
We asked the office a month ago for the actual calculation (the property's water bill, how many people they divided it by, what they took off for common areas). Nothing. They told us to take it up with the billing company and gave us an email that turned out to be the internet vendor's. So we're filing with the Texas PUC this week.
Anyone else at a DSA/BHOM property see the same jump? If it's the whole property, that matters.
What do you pay for water and sewer in a 2-bedroom here? Just need a sanity check.
Thanks.
