2011 Equinox cd player removable?

I'm not very familiar with the different radio set ups for 2011 Equinox but, I have a pioneer speaker edition with touchscreen and cd player. I'm familiar with getting to the touchscreen and cd player but, if you remove the cd player, the touchscreen and radio won't work? It's there a work around?

ZL1 Transmission Test

My 2019 ZL1 was basically drained of transmission fluid after an accident. It was only driven onto the tow truck after, but the dealership diagnosed the transmission with no fluid in it. If they went through five gears without fluid would that have made things far worse? Should they have done that or waited to get into a transmission shop to check it? I just wonder if it was fixable before the diagnosis test.

I’m not great with these things, so I could be completely wrong. I don’t even know how the test works. They’re saying I need a new transmission now so any advice is helpful <3

Car and Driver report on the 2028/2029 Chevrolet Camaro revival: What strategy should GM adopt?

Post image
11 Upvotes

Car and Driver shared new insights on the rumored 7th-generation Chevrolet Camaro. Key highlights from the report include:

  • Built on the updated GM Alpha 2 platform (shared with the Cadillac CT5).
  • Retaining V8 power options and manual transmission availability.
  • Potential 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan body styles.

From a brand strategy standpoint, is GM making the right move by keeping internal combustion performance models in Chevrolet's lineup? How do you think a 4-door Camaro would perform in today's market against rival sport sedans and muscle cars?

Nail in tire fixable?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi all, is this tire fixable or needs to be replaced?

Car is a Chevy Blazer 2026 2LT 235 65R18

Tire loses pressure slowly at about 1psi every couple days.

It’s also a lease, if I need a replacement does Chevy make a fuss about OEM tires?

Also I guess comprehensive insurance or Chevy warranty won’t cover this? (No added warranties purchased)

And since it is a lease am I better off taking it to a Chevy dealer or a tire shop?

GM messed up the steering wheel control to change the radio station

Post image
1 Upvotes

Did anybody notice with the GM over the air update back in March 2026 that the little silver toggle on the right side of the steering wheel, that used to allow you to adjust the radio station one channel at a time, changed to a USELESS way to bring up a favorites menu on the front dash instead? Now to change the channel, if it’s not a favorite, you have to look down at the center console screen!

2025 3500 DRW tail lights

I can’t find any aftermarket tail light options for a 2025 Chevy 3500 dually. They are obviously different than the single rear wheel ones but at a glance, they do look the same as the gmc sierra tail lights of the same generation. Can anyone confirm this?

Does opening and closing my window multiple times a day wear down my battery or electrical system?

I have a 2024 Equinox. My employer allows us to take smoke breaks, but we have to smoke in our car. I go outside about five times a day, unlock the car, sit down, tap the engine start button, and roll the driver window down. The radio comes on. I realize that the radio playing wears on the battery. I found the setting that allows me to hit the unlock button on my fob, then hold it in, so that all the windows roll down, so that I don’t have to start the car or hit the start button to roll a window down. Other than starting it, rolling the one window down, then turning it off, is there an easier way for me to get the window down? And don’t tell me to just quit smoking, I’ve thought of that.

2023 Chevrolet Spin Active 7 1.8 Automatic – Is my transmission a 6T30 or 6T31? Need help identifying a 14-pin connector

Hi everyone!
I own a 2023 Chevrolet Spin Active 7 with a 1.8L engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission.
I’m trying to replace the external electrical connector on the transmission because its locking tabs are broken. I found a 14-pin connector on AliExpress advertised as compatible with GM 6T30, 6T40, and 6T45 transmissions. I also found a wiring connector listed for the 6T30/6T31.
Can anyone confirm which transmission is fitted to the 2023 Chevrolet Spin Active 7 1.8 automatic: the GM 6T30 or the 6T31?
Has anyone replaced this connector on a Chevrolet Spin or a similar GM vehicle? How can I confirm the correct connector and part number before ordering?
I would really appreciate any advice or links to the correct part.
Thanks!

Looking for a couple short videos

Hi, My husband and I run a small business auto repair shop. I had a great idea this morning, using an audio from a movie (escanaba in da moonlight) i’m looking for a couple short videos for a reel. I need a couple 3-10 second videos of chevys broken down, smoking, etc.

If anyone is willing to help us out that would be great. We don’t currently have any Chevys at the shop. We only have Fords and Nissans here at the moment.

Equinox 2012 owners/How do you mount your plug and play Andriod Auto?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi folks,

I'm looking for options on what size plug and play Andriod auto screen I should get and would like to see photos on how you mount it?

Best Buy told me they could install an andriod auto screen in my car but the old one would still be up top. Which honestly if they can't replace my old screen, I don't see the point in paying to install one. Might as well get a plug and play.

Curious how you mount it? I've seen some folks use a cd player mount that would hold it below the radio which I'm fine with. But I'm curious if anyone has tried anything else that might work nicely?

I hear you can mount it via the vents, but I'm not sure how well that would work.

Just trying to see my options before I buy. I'm guessing a 7 inch screen might be best if opt for the cd mount. But I'm going outta town this weekend so I'd like to buy it locally if I can.

I do like the ones with the dash cam but I can't see how I would mount that in a way where that would work.

Thanks for your help!

Brought car to Chevy dealership, needed recall to be done, plus a few other things

So....SA advised that the car has water inside, carpets are wet, and the car really shouldn't be driven.

Okay, that's fine. Bummer, but many here have experienced this.

I ask for a loaner car, but they don't have any.

I ask for a rental via enterprise / Hertz, but they don't do that.

I ask for reimbursement, I'll rent a car myself. SA advised that the amount GM will reimburse is only $30/day, and the rental must be a GM vehicle.

That might be the funniest thing I've heard.

Does anyone else have a similar tale of woe?

FYI, this is Richard Lucas Chevrolet in Woodbridge NJ.

What’s the sweet spot for a used Camaro SS?

I’ve been researching used Camaro SS models and wanted to get some opinions from people who have owned or driven different generations.

I know the “which Camaro is best?” question has been asked plenty of times, but I’m trying to approach it a little differently. I’m less interested in which generation is objectively the best and more interested in where the best value is when factoring in purchase price, performance, reliability, and what you’re actually getting for your money.

I’m fairly flexible on budget. Ideally, I’d love to be around $15K–$20K, but I’m comfortable stretching into the $25K range or potentially even $30K if there’s a compelling reason. I’m not looking for something nearly new, and I don’t want to spend extra just for the sake of having a newer model.

A few things I’ve picked up from researching:

2010–2013 5th Gen SS: 6.2L V8 with the L99 making 400 hp in automatic models, paired with the 6L80 6-speed automatic. These seem like potentially excellent performance bargains, although I’m curious how much the older platform and additional weight affect the driving experience.

2014–2015 5th Gen SS: Same basic powertrain, but with the facelift and other updates. I’m curious whether there’s any compelling reason to target these over the earlier 5th Gen models beyond styling and condition.

2016–2018 6th Gen SS: Introduction of the LT1 6.2L V8 making 455 hp, along with the lighter Alpha platform and 8L90 8-speed automatic. From what I’ve read, this was a substantial improvement in performance, handling, and overall driving dynamics. However, I’ve also come across discussions about torque converter shudder with the 8-speed.

2019–2023 6th Gen SS: The 10L80 10-speed automatic replaced the 8-speed in the SS for 2019. These seem particularly appealing, although I’m curious whether the newer transmission and other improvements justify the higher purchase price.

One important detail: I’m exclusively interested in an automatic SS. I’m not considering a manual, so the differences between the 6L80, 8L90, and 10L80 are a major part of this decision. (Wife doesn’t feel comfortable learning and didn’t win that one).

Aesthetically, I genuinely like both generations, so styling isn’t really a deciding factor.
What I’m trying to understand is what am I actually buying by spending more, and what am I sacrificing by spending less?

For example:
If I buy a clean 2012–2015 SS with the L99 and 6L80 instead of spending more on a 2016–2018, am I getting most of the Camaro V8 experience for considerably less money? Or is the 6th Gen’s LT1 engine, lighter chassis, and improved handling such a substantial upgrade that I’d regret saving the money?
Likewise, if I stretch from a 2016–2018 to a 2019–2023, how significant is the real-world difference between the 8L90 and 10L80? Is the 10-speed worth specifically targeting, especially considering the reported 8-speed shudder issues? Or can a properly maintained 8-speed still be a smart purchase?

I’m also interested in any particular years, trim levels, or options that represent especially good values. For example, is there a compelling reason to pay more for a 2SS over a 1SS, or does the 1SS offer most of what makes the car great?

Reliability and long-term ownership are important to me as well. I’ve read about the 5th Gen L99’s AFM lifter concerns and the 6th Gen’s 8-speed transmission issues, but I’d appreciate hearing how significant these problems actually are from owners.

I’m not looking to build a race car or chase maximum horsepower. I want a fun, reasonably dependable V8 that I can enjoy for years.
Ultimately, where do you think the point of diminishing returns is?

Is a $15K–$20K 5th Gen SS already most of the experience? Does spending $25K get you a substantially better car? Or is there a particular model/year worth stretching to $30K for?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from anyone who’s owned both generations or has firsthand experience with the different automatic transmissions.
Thanks in advance!

I need help finding a 4x4 Chevy chevette my dad built.

When my dad built it it was beige and the guy that bought it from him painted it black. it's got a custom front bumper and the rear bumper was narrowed from a truck. It's sitting on a Nissan four-wheel drive frame. The last thing I can find about it is it was listed on Craigslist in Topeka ks in 2015

Southern California chevy dealer for LT TB

Can anyone recommend a good dealer? I'm planning to switch to an LT Trail Boss. I see the prices listed online are mostly in the $60k–$63k range—have LT TB prices really gotten that high? I'm not looking to get the diesel version. Also, what are your OTD prices? Would you mind sharing them?

Engine Code

I have a 2014 Equinox LTZ, recently purchased. It came with the engine light on. I got it checked and it gave a code of PO449. Auto Zone says it's my canister purge valve, but after a quick search it's a sensor or solenoid attached to my charcoal filter box(?). Need some clarification before I accidentally buy the wrong part.

GM VIS Report Request / Help

Hi Everyone - new person to this room and GM products. If possible (and if allowed) would someone be able to help me obtain a GM VIS report on a used LM2 Tahoe in CarMax inventory? I am definitely going to be test driving once it is shipped to my local store, but I'd love to get history on it as AutoCheck and CarFax do not show much.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone else have a 2013 equinox LS?

My coolant is leaking but not dripping onto the ground

Water is leaking onto my passenger side floor after water gets on it like being washed or rain.

Makes a weird noise when you turn the wheel when driving

Stereo turns on and off on its own

After heater is used it makes a ticking sound..

Anyone else have these issues?

2024 Sierra 1500 Trail Boss - Why do you keep forgetting my hotspot WiFi Password?

Dear Chevy,

Look, I get it. You want me to buy OnStar products. However, it's just not in the budget right now. I'm generally in the truck less than an hour a day. How do I justify a $20/mo data plan when I already pay for a cell phone with a hotspot?

As a workaround, I created a shortcut on my iPhone to start its WiFi hotspot every time CarPlay starts. I give the Infotainment system my hotspot WiFi password and it connects. Finally, no more constant nagging about not having a wireless service plan every time I switch to Google Maps!

Wrong. For reasons that I can only assume involve your incessant desire for me to go to an OnStar data plan, the truck "forgets" my WiFi password after about 2 days, frequently sooner. Why on God's green Earth does it forget? I have devices in my camper that remember after an entire season in storage. Not a single other WiFi device that I own ever forgets that password. It's like the truck has automotive Alzheimer's.

Please tell me that it's not the case. Please tell me there's a setting somewhere deep in the system that I can set to remember this password. Please tell me this is more about keeping a happy customer.

Sincerely,

Someone trying to be a loyal customer

P.S. It's actually a 2024 Chevy Silverado, not a Sierra. I noticed my faux pas just after I clicked 'Post'. Sorry for the confusion.

My friend bought a first-gen Chevrolet Trax LT that was imported from south korea, it has a regional locked MyLink system, cannot change language.

There isn't an official chevy/GM dealership here in Syria.

Did anyone manage to retrieve firmware files that were available by GM ? (to flash a new firmware)

Es una Captiva PHEV 2026, versión Premier.

WTF?

I have a 2022 Traverse, yesterday I had a check engine light come on and the vehicle started to jerk.

It barely made it out of 3rd gear, thankfully I was near home so managed to get it there

2 codes came up P0700 and P2724 both relating to the transmission and pointing to a stuck "E" solenoid.

This sucks!

My traverse barely has 35k miles. I did notice a new feature pop up now my vehicle detects people and alerts me with the alarm and icon on the screen

Must've been a new update I wasn't aware of...I swear every time a new update comes up something fails! Anyone else having a similar issue?
