Chess.com Website/App Question I just had to play with a sore loser who just stalled for 7 minutes, is there no way to punish these folks?

I reported him and going to keep an eye if anything was done. This is a disgrace to chess community. Worst part he is a paying member.

Chess Question A lot of bots at 800 elo?

I am occasionally seeing bots at the 800 elo level since starting. i stats'd one of them and they have played 3.5 years of rapid chess games in just under 5 years and has been stuck at the same elo the entire time. it is possible to get them banned or can this never happen it just seems so strange i've ran into a few accounts like that. i refuse to believe someone is playing 17 hours a day for 5 years straight

Chess Improvement Things we do for fun

I cry after losing games, and then I wake up to this THIS IS HAPPENING EVERY SINGLE DAY 😭.

Losing is part of the journey, and we're all here to learn and improve. I just wish everyone would play fair and focus on getting better rather than gaining a rating unfairly. Chess is more than just numbers; it's about learning, patience, and respect for the game. ❤️

Also, if anyone stronger than me is willing to help me improve my thinking process and opening preparation, please DM me! I have an over-the-board tournament coming up and would love to learn from stronger players. 🙏

Chess Discussion Anyone else noticing suspicious players around 1600/1700 ELO?

Lately, since reaching around 1600 ELO, I've been encountering a lot of fresh accounts that seem suspicious, even when their accuracy is not 99%.

It's not necessarily about perfect moves every game, but certain decisions and patterns that just feel off, usually they also don't have a profile pic or any sort of customization.

Has anyone noticed something similar or am I just being paranoid?

I'm not complaining about the losses tho, just wondering!

Chess Discussion Why do women have less Elo?

This isn’t meant to be misogynistic or anything, i am a women myself, but i can’t understand why female GMs have less ELO then male GMs, and why are there different categories for man and woman? I wouldn’t have thought that your gender has an impact on the way you play chess?

Chess.com Website/App Question How can I get my account permanently banned from this website?

I'm awful at this game, I do not enjoy it, and I only play for the dopamine spike of the occasional victory. It's not worth it. I'm ashamed to say I have a permanent chat ban for being toxic, and frankly I hate the person I become when I play this game.

If a site admin is able to help out I'm happy to DM my account name so they can help me out.

I realise this is strange but I've attempted to delete my account multiple times and even after leaving it a lot g while it seems to always allow me to log back in.

Miscellaneous Phobia of being banned in daily for playing well

I have an irrational fear of being banned because of daily games.

I spend so much time analyzing the games before I move, I’ve won 3 of my last 4 games with no mistakes or blunders at 1500 elo. But the opening explorer gives you a third of the moves, and I use the analysis tool a ton to go over all their possible moves and my response to them. In critical positions, I’ll literally spend hours going over the possible lines.

I guess I’m worried because I use lichess opening explorer so I swap between the apps to make sure I’m in the right position. They have no way to know
If I’m using an engine.

I’m like 1400 rapid, but I’m getting nervous that they’ll think I’m cheating because I’m on a big winning streak in daily lol. I’m sure they have ways to tell in daily, so it’s an irrational fear, but tbh the opening explorer feels like cheating. Maybe that adds to my anxiety.

Oh well, trust the system I guess

Chess Discussion I always lose against players from Mexico

I don't know what it is but I have a terrible record against players from Mexico. I seriously lose 9 out of 10 games to them I don't know how that statistic is possible.

LOL Opponent tried to play on my clock but it backfired

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just won a super satisfying game - and to get over 2000 again nonetheless !

Opponent took advantage of my poor time management and was able to defend an endgame down an exchange. Up until the final seconds, that is, because they failed to notice my sneaky king move move (Kc3) was setting up exactly Ra8 checkmate.

Ne6 was not even a capture by the way. It was a innocent-looking move played very quickly so my time would run out .

I censored their username because the idea is obviously not to shame my opponent, but for anyone interested, here's the link to the game: https://www.chess.com/game/live/185399584864

Chess Discussion So confused.

I moved white pawn to g4 to put King in check… and by looking at this a checkmate. However, chess.com didn’t declare it a check mate and I’m racking my brain looking at it. What am I missing? He resigned after the move instead of it become mate.

Check out this #chess game: Haegr99 vs Koltfitz - https://www.chess.com/game/live/185375557506

I think this might be my first ever game without 200 mistakes according to the grading system. Feels good to catch a dub without errors even if I am a low Elo

Chess Question Weak

I knew I was going to lose, don’t get me wrong but IMO I find it weak to not just checkmate. They chased me for a while. Why bother? I guess because I refuse to resign?

Chess Question The engine assumes the opponent does something odd

I’m trying to analyse games but I get this type of thing a lot. The engine assumes the person (the human) I’m against would play some unnatural move.

Why on earth would they not just take my queen if I done what they said.

Does any engine exist that goes ‘this might be the best move if you can see 20 moves down the line and play against another computer… buuuut this might pay off and sort of works against a human’

[I assume I’m just thick]

Chess Improvement (700ish elo) Sketchy Bishop Sacrifice

Hi to all the community.

I had a game today in chesscom (700ish elo)that for me ended with a sketchy sacrifice followed by a checkmate in 5 moves and 2 of those move were great. I know 700 elo is still a beginner but during the game I know I committed several error and even down on material, but I was feeling pretty confident that I was making a comeback. I will like the community to chime in and give me your opinion based on your experience.

Also any recommendations on my performance is also welcome.

Have fun reviewing this match.

PD. I was playing white.

Chess Improvement How to go from a complete beginner to an 1800 ELO player in 2 months

Post image
0 Upvotes

Are you a beginner? Do you want to improve at chess? Here is what I did to go from a complete beginner to an 1800 elo player in 2 months.

Step 1. Your life is now chess. No distractions.

Step 2. Buy chess premium. SERIOUSLY.

Step 3. Master an opening as white. For me after experimenting a few I chose the queens gambit. I also just finished watching the show on Netflix and it felt right.

Step 4. Watch videos. I found YouTube videos very boring so I just watched TikTok’s with a few YouTube videos to learn my opening better. You won’t improve much by just playing and not learning. That brings me to my next step.

Step 5. ANALYZE!!! The most important step here and why you should buy premium. Analyzing every game move by move as a beginner is 🔑

Analyze your opening every game until it’s mastered. Analyze your mistakes. I used Lichess for the first month before I bought chess premium. It’s free there, but you should seriously buy chess premium if you want to get better.

Step 6. Puzzles 🧩 I think puzzles are extremely overrated. I maybe played 100 puzzles total but they are very helpful for most people. Idk if it counts as a puzzle but make sure you practice how to checkmate with king/rook, king/queen ETC. There will be a lot of stalemate on your journey and it will make you mad.

Step 7. No bullet, No blitz. SORRY😂

Your goal is to actually improve and learn and have critical thinking not to just spam random pieces before the clock runs out.

Step 7. You have to play ALOT. ALOT. ALOT. Seriously tho. ALOT

Play everyday. Analyze everyday. Watch some videos everyday. Do a few puzzles everyday. Watch the show queens gambit. It might not make you better but you need to get in that chess mindset.

I can’t remember anything else I did. It is very unlikely and according to almost everyone and I’m sure most of these comments going from a beginner to 1800 or even being able to go to 1500 in 2 months is impossible. It’s not. Goodluck to you all

DISCLAIMER AND PROOF: MY username is @NYCINDICA

My accuracy isn’t that good. I’m not that consistent. I still make beginner mistakes. I struggle the most with endgames. Most people at this elo have years of experience. I don’t.

I didn’t go from 100 elo to 1800 in 2 months. That’s not possible. What I did do was start on chess.com at 500. I played until I got to around 600. Then I opened a Lichess account so I have free access to analyzing games. Now I have chess premium obviously but whatever. On Lichess you start at 1500. I dropped to 1300 initially. I got to 1700ish on Lichess before I opened a new chess.com account with supports permission of course. Bought a year of premium, and here I am. 1830 elo taking down chess club kids and 80 year old grandpas who have been playing chess for decades.

Feel free to add me or analyze my account or games. My record is like 75-78 rapid. I’m not sure if they deduct the losses when you lose to cheaters and they get banned but i lost to atleast 10 cheaters and like 5 got banned.

I’ll attach my Lichess stats in the comments as well as a screenshot with my friend when I first started, was improving quick and let him know I’m coming for him (he’s the reason I started lol). Don’t know how else to prove I’m not lying tbh
