I'm heartbroken to share that three people have lost their lives, and ten others have been injured following a collision involving two Calgary Transit buses near Saddletowne LRT Station in northeast Calgary.
On behalf of the City of Calgary, I want to extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died. Our hearts are with you.
To those who have been injured, we're thinking of you and hoping for your recovery.Ā
Our firefighters, police, and emergency responders have been on scene. The fire has been contained, and I want to thank everyone working to care for those affected.
There will be a full investigation into what happened, what caused this collision, and what needs to change to prevent another tragedy.
But right now, our focus is on the families who are grieving and the injured who are recovering.
For all of us, especially, the transit operators, passengers, and first responders who have been affected by what happened today, this is a heartbreaking day for our city.
And as Calgarians, we will stand together to support everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.
