According to the lawsuit, Bell was misled into undergoing core muscle repair surgery based on misrepresented MRI findings. The procedure allegedly caused a severe injury to his femoral artery, requiring emergency, life-saving treatment.

Bell’s attorneys allege the defendants participated in a financial scheme that prioritized money over his health.

August 2022:. Watson received an 11-game suspension and a $5 million fine after the NFL and the NFL Players Association reached a settlement over his conduct. The league and the Cleveland Browns each contributed another $1 million, bringing the announced total to $7 million.

At the time, Commissioner Roger Goodell said the fund would support organizations “across the country.” The NFL described its intended use in a statement.

...the NFL Foundation distributed just $2.3 million over three years to charities...

[Jackson] Todd Monken’s Ravens reunion takes a backseat to Browns’ latest test

The shared and complicated history between the Baltimore Ravens, formerly the Cleveland Browns, and the reborn Browns of 1999 has led to notable crossover, territorial awkwardness and some wildly memorable games.

Before January, though, no one had ever sat in an office inside the Ravens’ training facility while preparing to interview for the Browns’ head-coaching job. But Todd Monken did, and he got the opportunity he’d long hoped for. Upon leaving, he even recommended the man who’d eventually replace him as the Ravens’ offensive coordinator.

Monken, who helped elevate Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson as a passer and called the plays during Jackson’s second MVP season, has now officially been tasked with trying to resuscitate the Browns and mold an intriguing young roster into the kind of consistent winner the Ravens have been.

Sunday in Cleveland, Monken’s 3-2 Browns face a 4-1 Ravens team that may or may not have Jackson in the lineup but will certainly be trying to tighten its grip on first place in the AFC North.

Though Monken has said since being hired in Cleveland that he’s grateful for his time and experiences in Baltimore, sentimentality and emotion are taking a backseat to urgency over the next several days. The Browns weren’t very good last week in a driving rainstorm against the New York Jets and saw their three-game win streak wash away.

To get the good vibes of a surprising start back, the Browns need to win Sunday and claim a share of first place before playing their next three on the road.

“It’s a divisional game, and it’s the next one,” Monken said Wednesday. “Really, that’s what that is. Did I enjoy my time there? Of course. A lot of really good memories. I have a lot of good friends and people there, but other than that, no, it’s a divisional game. It’s the next one.”

The Ravens, behind backup quarterback (and former Brown) Tyler Huntley, rallied for an overtime win in Atlanta Sunday night to extend their win streak to three. Jackson again wasn’t on the field Wednesday as the Ravens began their standard practice week, leaving some questions as to whether he’ll be available against Cleveland.

There’s no questioning the results Monken and Jackson produced together in 2023 and 2024, Monken’s first two seasons as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator.

Jackson’s 2023 completion percentage was a career-best 67.2, up nearly five points from the previous season, as part of an MVP year that saw Jackson throw for 3,678 yards, run for 821 and account for 29 total touchdowns. In 2024, Jackson threw for 4,172 yards, rushed for 915 and accounted for 45 touchdowns. He was limited by injury in 2025, and after the Ravens recovered from a 1-5 start but faltered in their season finale, they missed the playoffs and fired head coach John Harbaugh after 18 seasons.

OFFICIAL GAME PREVIEW THREAD [Game Preview Thread] Week 6 - Ravens @ Browns (10/18/2026)

Cleveland Browns vs. Baltimore Ravens

Welcome back, Dawg Pound.

The three-game win streak is over. The road trip to MetLife ended in a soggy 17-12 loss after the offense managed a season-low 198 yards, Deshaun Watson took eight sacks, and a botched punt snap flipped the field for Braelon Allen’s go-ahead 22-yard touchdown run. Cleveland sits at 3-2, tied with the Steelers and Bengals in a crowded AFC North while the Ravens sit alone at the top at 4-1.

Now it’s a home date with the team that just took care of business in Atlanta. Lamar Jackson and company are rolling. Todd Monken is staring down his old Baltimore system on the other sideline. The offense that found ways to win the last three weeks looked completely out of rhythm in the rain against the Jets. Protection has to clean up, the run game needs to reassert itself, and the defense that has kept this team competitive has another tough test ahead.

This is the first real measuring-stick game of the Monken era. Division game. Home crowd. Opportunity to stay right in the thick of the North.

Home vs. Road Trends:

The Browns are a perfect 2-0 at home this season (21-18 over Carolina, 27-24 over Pittsburgh on Thursday night) and 1-2 on the road (loss at Jacksonville, win at Tampa Bay, loss at the Jets). Cleveland returns to Huntington Bank Field looking to stay undefeated in front of the Dawg Pound against a Ravens team that is 1-1 at home but a perfect 3-0 on the road (wins at Indianapolis, Dallas, and Atlanta). Baltimore has shown it can travel and win, while the Browns have made Huntington Bank Field a tough place to play so far under Todd Monken.

Key Matchup:

Browns defensive front vs. the Ravens’ rushing attack (Derrick Henry + complementary pieces). Baltimore is averaging 164.4 rushing yards per game (3rd in the NFL) and 5.1 yards per carry. They just gouged Atlanta for 208 yards on the ground in Week 5. Cleveland’s defense has been solid overall (16 sacks through five games) but will be tested by a physical, complementary run game that can wear down fronts and set up play-action. Stopping the run early and forcing the Ravens into obvious passing situations is critical for the Browns, especially after the offensive line got pushed around for eight sacks in the rain at MetLife. If the Browns can’t slow Henry and the ground game, it will be a long afternoon for the offense to keep pace.
